Freedom continues its coverage of Abahlali baseMjondolo, a South African movement of shack dwellers who organise land occupations and communes:
The attempt by the local ANC – working with the police, private security, the anti-land invasion unit and forces within the prosecuting authority – to destroy the eKhenana Commune has been relentless.
The attacks on the Commune have included assassinations, assaults, illegal and violent evictions, vandalism, arson, repeated arrests on bogus charges and continual online slander from fake Facebook accounts, including two fake Facebook pages.
Three comrades have been assassinated this year: Ayanda Ngila, Nokuthula Mabaso and Lindokuhle Mnguni. The arrests on bogus charges, followed by the denial of bail and then, after as long as six months in prison, the dropping of charges, continue.
The last one is supposedly racist, but bad smells out there. Fascists also collaborate in a globalized world. The French police acted violently towards protesters who fought back in return.
One city, one community, two triple murders, 10 years of struggle for truth and justice. To hell with fascism. Long live the freedom struggle ANF#Parispic.twitter.com/BN9pFJy2LN
Support economically and politically the 4 persecuted comrades, who are under trial at 6 February 2023. The 4 anarchists are being persecuted, under “anti-terrorist” law, for participating in an allegedelly “terrorist” organization named “comrades”. No one alone against the state! International revolutionary solidarity!
The first solidarity banner for the 4 comrades, Exarcheia 10th March 2020. Banner, “In a world that human relationships are being criminalized, we are all comrades”
Chronicle of the prosecution
On March 8th and 9th 2020, after a state security operation three male and one female comrade are arrested. Τhe authorities’ sole piece of evidence was two cops having ‘visually’ identified the first arrested person on a video of the attack against the Mitsotakis* Foundation. The other three were arrested due to their friendly and comrade relationships. They now find themselves charged with an enormous case file which includes 55 attacks.
After months of feigned confidence and optimism from both the West and Ukraine’s senior military leadership, cracks are beginning to appear. During Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Valery Zaluzhny’s recent interview with the Economist, Ukraine’s desperate need for additional arms and the consequences for not receiving them was made very clear.
The discussion revolved around the desperate need for resources – everything ranging from air defense missiles to tanks, armored vehicles, artillery pieces and artillery shells themselves – all things that both the West and now Ukraine are admitting are in short supply, and perhaps cannot be supplied any time in the near or intermediate future.
From “Extending Russia” to “Demilitarizing” NATO
We are careening directly into an abyss of war, pain and misery, and our leaders are thunderously applauding as it happens. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came to Washington this week because he wanted more money, and our politicians in Washington definitely did not disappoint him. Even though we had already given Ukraine far more money than the rest of the world combined, our politicians agreed to give him another colossal mountain of cash. On some level, we all have to respect Zelenskyy’s skills as a con man. Even though he has banned the main opposition party in Ukraine, and even though he has banned all television stations that were critical of him, and even though he just banned an entire ancient Christian denomination, our politicians continue to worship him like some sort of a pop music star. Zelenskyy has become an extremely oppressive dictator that has set himself up to rule Ukraine for as long as he wants, but members of Congress from both parties continue to hail him as a “champion of democracy” that deserves our unquestioning support.
What makes this so dangerous is that Zelenskyy has been trying very hard to pull the United States into his war with Russia.
If both sides just keep escalating matters, we will eventually reach a point where somebody crosses a line that will never be able to be uncrossed.
We have been pushed to the brink of nuclear war, and the Russians are getting ready to officially deploy their new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles in January…….
The Sarmat is the most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile in the entire world by a wide margin, and we have no way to defend against them.
So maybe we should think twice before getting into a nuclear war with Russia.
This post concerns Richard Drax, one of the richest MPs in the Brit Parliament, whose inherited fortune was apparently built on the slave trade.
Richard Drax: he likes to dress the part of the landed gentry, but it seems his fortune is built on something sordid. Time to face reality?
His family owned plantations in Barbados that were farmed by slaves; he still has one there now, although working practices have changed with the times. As a result, he now owns a large amount of Dorset.
‘Of course the entire wealth of the UK is based on slavery and centuries colonial looting, which continues today via its vast overseas ‘holdings’ and the great fraud machine of the ‘City’ of London’.
Barbados has recently become a republic and its people are asking him to make reparation for the slave-profiteering that built his fortune.
Here’s the report:
Will this MP make amends for his family’s sordid past? Or will he deny responsibility?
RichardDrax still owns the family’s ancestral slave plantation, comprising 621 acres, Drax Hall, situated on the island of Barbados. Workers on the plantation allegedly earn as little as £24 a day, half the average wage in Barbados. (4) The call for reparation and restitution The people of Barbados call for reparation and restitution.
South Dorset Tory MP RichardDrax is descended from John Sawbridge Erle-Drax, who was awarded £4,293 12s 6d – worth £3m today – for 189 slaves. The money was paid in May 1836 for slaves at a…
