Free West Media – November 9, 2022 BERLIN – The head of the SPD parliamentary group, Rolf Mützenich said the Ukrainian government put him on a „terrorist list” because he had called for a cease-fire in Ukraine.

He added that he had also “received threats”.

The criteria according to which Kiev differentiates its friends from its enemies has irked the president of the group SPD in the Bundestag, Mützenich.

German politicians are particularly indignant that their names are now on the list of people who “promote narrative people in accordance with Russian propaganda”.

This document is published on the website of the Center for Combating Disinformation to the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine.

“I was irritated that the Ukrainian government had put me on a terrorist list on the grounds that I was working for a cease-fire or for the possibility of taking new diplomatic measures,” he told the German news agency dpa.

According to him, he has since also received “secondary threats, so to speak, which are not easy to manage either”.

Mützenich stressed that if the commitment to a cease-fire is a criterion for inclusion on this list, then the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, must also be included. He complained of “discrimination” against those who, like him, campaign for diplomacy as a means of ending the conflict.

He also accused the partners of the SPD coalition, namely the Greens and the FDP, of resorting to the same discrimination. “I oppose this rigorism. The fact remains that most wars did not end on the battlefield.”

The deputy has been on the list since July. As proof, the Ukrainians cited an article published on the website of the German information agency RND.

The article indicated that the deputy found it “normal” that the German Chancellor, with the American and French Presidents, discussed ways to end the war in Ukraine.

According to the article, Mützenich referred to the sanctions packages, but also to the attempt to achieve humanitarian ceasefires.

When the news hit earlier this week that Yvon Chouinard and his family had given up ownership of Patagonia, it was met with waves of mixed emotions from fans and the broader business community: inspiring, incredible, optimistic, cynical—and sometimes all at once.

In moving all ownership of the company to the Patagonia Purpose Trust and Holdfast Collective, the Chouinards have once again forced other companies and their leaders to confront just how they will reconcile their own company structures with their stated goals of addressing the climate catastrophe.

And guess what? No matter what they do, their customers are going to confront them on it. Just as Patagonia has helped move the goalposts on sustainability in the supply chain, and speaking out on social and environmental issues, it has now established a new standard for how a company can truly walk the walk on its values far beyond an ESG or CSR strategy.

There has been, and will continue to be, plenty of admiration and praise from afar, including from within major global corporations. But just as with its sustainability influence, many will simply look at Patagonia’s move as a luxury of being a privately owned company, without the handcuffs of, and obligation to, public shareholders.

Others, conveniently ignoring the precedent and arc of founder Yvon Chouinard’s 50-year career, will see it, dubiously, as creative legal maneuvering to avoid a massive tax bill.

One can’t really expect Exxon or Amazon to look at the Patagonia news and be immediately inspired to follow suit. Even Patagonia’s peer group in outdoor apparel is often nested within larger conglomerates in which this specific structure will be difficult to emulate. But Chouinard is thinking about the future—not only for Patagonia, but also for the next generation of entrepreneurs and the companies they’ll build.

The Venezuelan president affirmed that “if we continue at this self-destructive pace, in 30 or 40 years this planet will be uninhabitable”.

Cairo, November 8 (RHC)– The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, urged this Tuesday during his speech at the COP27 summit on climate change being held in Egypt, to change the consumerist model in a way that stops the destruction of the Amazon and preserves life on the planet.

Speaking at the High Level Segment of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), the Venezuelan head of state began his speech at the conclave by warning that “the climate crisis is an unavoidable reality that can only be confronted with concrete, urgent and immediate actions.”

“…Though Venezuela produces a great deal of oil, 70 percent of the country’s energy is hydroelectric. Venezuela invests $500 million per year into alternative energy. Already, the Bolivarian government has replaced 155 million inefficient light bulbs with newly developed eco-friendly ones. A program to replace other household appliances with more eco-friendly ones is in the works.A total of 58 million hectares of forest in Venezuela are protected, and a mass program of reforestation is being carried out.…”

In this sense, the president pointed out that “the dimension of this crisis does not take us by surprise.  Since the beginning of the environmental diplomacy, we had sufficient data to declare an early emergency and act accordingly”.

In turn, Maduro emphasized that “every hour, every month, every year of inaction, of hesitation, of indolence, translates today into destroyed ecosystems, extinct species and the deterioration of the planet’s living conditions.”

We had the opportunity to participate in the recent summit of the BRICS group in China, in which Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was invited to participate, as this summit came out with openness to the inclusion of countries Another member of the group, we submitted our application and both Russia and China welcomed Algeria’s accession.

Zerrougui indicated that the rest of the BRICS countries are currently studying the Algeria file before deciding on it.
