España ha extendido el despliegue de su sistema de defensa aérea Patriot como parte de una misión de la OTAN en Türkiye hasta junio de 2023, anunció el Ministerio de Defensa turco en una declaración escrita el 13 de noviembre.

Según el comunicado, la decisión de la prórroga del despliegue Patriot y la permanencia del contingente militar español fue tomada por España. También informó que el ministro de Defensa, Hulusi Akar, llamó a su homóloga española, Margarita Robles, y le agradeció la extensión del despliegue Patriot. Akar también aplaudió a España por actuar en consonancia con el espíritu aliado.

España desplegó su sistema de defensa aérea Patriot en 2015 en la provincia sureña de Adana para proteger el espacio aéreo turco frente a la amenaza siria. Antes, España, Alemania, Estados Unidos y Holanda también desplegaron sistemas Patriot en Türkiye… España reemplazó al contingente Patriot holandés en 2015.

Spain extends Patriot deployment in Türkiye until June 2023

Spain has extended the deployment of its Patriot air defense system as part of a NATO mission in Türkiye until June 2023, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced in a written statement on Nov. 13.

España desplegará en Turquía una batería antiaérea de misiles Patriot

According to the statement, the decision for the extension of the Patriot deployment and the stay of the Spanish military contingent was taken by Spain. It also informed that Defense Minister Hulusi Akar called his Spanish counterpart, Margarita Robles, and thanked her for the extension of the Patriot deployment. Akar also applauded Spain for acting in line with the allied spirit.
