Several dozen women demonstrated this Wednesday in Mexico City to denounce that they were recently attacked by the police in Chimalhuacán, a municipality in the State of Mexico, in the center of the country.
“We do not deserve this fear,” claimed one of the women who, like her companions, told the press about the alleged attacks carried out by people dressed in civilian clothes but who, some of them, were carrying long weapons and who attacked them, according to what she says, with partitions and tubes.
The group of women activists were on April 2 in front of the Chimalhuacán Justice Center -a unit belonging to the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM)- accompanying Irene Cervantes, a woman who two years ago denounced that her underage daughter was kidnapped, tortured and raped by police officers of the State of Mexico.
Since she denounced the case, Cervantes, her companions denounced her, she suffers harassment, harassment and even she was allegedly assaulted by police officers.
According to what they reported, on April 1, traffic police arrested the woman alleging that the motorcycle on which she was traveling was stolen. Three hours later she was found battered and missing two teeth.
On April 2, several police officers were detained inside the center, and the activists gathered outside the building to demand that all other people linked to Irene’s case and her daughter’s case be arrested.
According to what they reported, since the afternoon of that day, when around 20 women gathered, they were besieged by several men who said they were not policemen.

At some point, the gender prosecutor Dilcya García went out to talk to the protesters and asked them to leave the place – which they refused – and assured them that no one was going to do anything to them.
However, after midnight and seeing that the demonstrators were not going to leave the place, they assured that García made a sign before which the men she had seen during the afternoon surrounded them and attacked them.

In addition, they reported that a gray truck also arrived from which people with long weapons got out. They said there were around 200 men attacking them.
“We were beaten with sticks, beaten by groups of men who threw (threw) a fence at us, gassed us, broke our cell phones and megaphones and our tents,” they added.
The protesters considered that the intention of the policemen was to “cause a lot of damage”, since one of them ended up with a broken arm that needs to be operated on, another with four broken ribs and all of them with bruises in different parts of the body.
“We hold the federal and state authorities responsible for anything that happens to Irene and her daughter or to us,” they said.
In addition to the pronouncement, they read a statement in which they demanded that a public forum be held with the prosecutor of the State of Mexico, a public apology from the State of Mexico and the municipal government of Chimalhuacán “where it is recognized that there was torture” and the construction of an “anti-monument” -installation placed as a result of a popular protest-.

They also called for the creation of a protest response protocol, justice for Irene’s case, immediate medical care, and a guarantee of non-repetition.

Protestan en Ciudad de México por abuso policial a mujeres en centro del país

Varias decenas de mujeres se manifestaron esta miércoles en la Ciudad de México para denunciar que recientemente fueron agredidas por la policía en Chimalhuacán, un municipio del Estado de México, centro del país.
“No nos merecemos este miedo”, reclamó una de las mujeres que, como sus compañeras, contó a la prensa las presuntas agresiones que ejercieron personas vestidas de civil pero que portaban, algunos de ellos, armas largas y que las agredieron, según relata, con tabiques y tubos.
El grupo de mujeres activistas se encontraban el pasado 2 de abril frente al Centro de Justicia de Chimalhuacán -dependencia perteneciente a la Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México (FGJEM)- acompañando a Irene Cervantes, una mujer que hace dos años denunció que su hija menor de edad fue secuestrada, torturada y violada por agentes de policía del Estado de México.
Desde que denunció el caso, Cervantes, denunciaron sus compañeras, sufre acoso, hostigamiento y hasta fue presuntamente agredida por policías.
Según relataron, el 1 de abril policías de tránsito detuvieron a la mujer alegando que la motocicleta en la que se trasladaba era robada. Tres horas después apareció golpeada y sin dos dientes.
El 2 de abril, varias policías estaban detenidas dentro de dicho centro, y las activistas se juntaron fuera del edificio para pedir que se detuviese a todas las demás personas vinculadas con el caso de Irene y con el de su hija.
Según relataron, desde la tarde de ese día, cuando se juntaron alrededor de 20 mujeres, estuvieron sitiadas por varios hombres que dijeron no ser policías.
En algún momento, la fiscal de género Dilcya García salió a hablar con las manifestantes y les pidió que abandonaran el lugar -a lo que se negaron- y les aseguró que nadie les iba a hacer nada.
Sin embargo, después de la medianoche y al ver que las manifestantes no se iban a retirar del lugar, aseguraron que García hizo una seña ante la que los hombres que habían visto durante la tarde las cercaron y las atacaron.
Además, relataron que llegó también una camioneta gris de la que se bajaron personas con armas largas. Dijeron que había alrededor de 200 hombres atacándolas.
“Fuimos golpeadas con palos, golpeadas por grupos de hombre que nos aventaron (lanzaron) una reja encima, nos gasearon, nos rompieron los celulares y los megáfonos y las casas (tiendas) de campaña”, agregaron.
Las manifestantes consideraron que la intención de los policías era “causar muchos daños”, ya que una de ellas terminó con un brazo roto que necesita ser operado, otra con cuatro costillas rotas y todas ellas con contusiones en distintas partes del cuerpo.
“Responsabilizamos a las autoridades federales y a las estatales de cualquier cosa que le pase a Irene y a su hija o a nosotras”, expresaron.
Además del pronunciamiento, leyeron un pliego en el que exigieron la realización de un foro público con el fiscal del Estado de México, una disculpa pública por parte del Estado de México y del gobierno municipal de Chimalhuacán “donde se reconozca que hubo tortura” y la construcción de una “antimonumenta” -instalación colocada a raíz de una protesta popular-.
También pidieron la creación de un protocolo de respuesta ante protestas, justicia para el caso de Irene, atención médica inmediata y garantía de no repetición.
