“For today, Bakhmut is only in our hearts.”
Retired US Air Force Lt. Col. Karen Kwiatkowski toldSputnikthat the Russian forces’ control overthe important transport hub of Bakhmuton May 20 marks a critical turning point in the battle between Kiev and Moscow.
The liberation of Bakhmut demonstrates that Ukraine’s political leadership’s approach has failed, because…
The Group of Seven held a de facto war summit in Hiroshima, a place that is synonymous with the horror and evil of war.
The United States-led “Group of Seven” cabal held one of their increasingly meaningless jamborees this weekend in the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The posturing of solemnity by these warmongering elites in a place that represents the ultimate barbarity of American imperialism is not only sickening in its hypocrisy and profanity. The evident lack of awareness and shame of these charlatans is a sure sign that their privileged historical charade is coming to an end.
American President Joe Biden took time out from his nation’s collapsing economy and scandals over his rampant family corruption to attend the G7 summit in Japan. He was joined by so-called leaders from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Canada as well as the premier of the host nation, Fumio Kishida. Joining the…

More than twenty activists have participated this morning in a nonviolent direct action against the International Defense and Security Fair (FEINDEF) to denounce the arms business.
The protest has been organized by the Desarma Madrid Platform and supported by pacifist and environmental social organizations.
This Friday they have called a citizen concentration in front of the Army Headquarters.
A group of pacifist activists has carried out a protest against the FEINDEF arms fair that is held biennially at IFEMA, to denounce the celebration of the arms hall as one of the gears that sustain militarization and wars.
The activists wanted to decorate the access to the fair with colorful shields that read “STOP WEAPON SALE” to remain anchored to them until the show was suspended.
The police have attacked and thrown them to the ground upon arrival.
There is an injured person who has been transferred to La Paz Hospital.
About twenty people remain detained waiting to be transferred to the police station. During the development of the protest they have displayed a banner with the slogan “The war starts here, let’s stop it here” and slogans such as “Warlords, get out of Madrid” have been chanted.

Other organizations such as the state coordinator Alternativa Antimilitarista-MOC, Greenpeace and CGT Zona Sur have supported the protest. “We do not want arms fairs in our city and even less in a public space managed by the City Council and the Community, such as IFEMA,” argue the organizers.
FEINDEF is an arms fair that has the support of the Ministry of Defense and is aimed at generating business opportunities for the arms industry. For the organizing organizations, this show promotes the sale of arms to countries in conflict, in collusion with the governments of Western countries.
According to the activists, “this business is one of the cogs in the perverse wheel of militarization and war: weapons intensify conflicts and generate violence and wars that force thousands of people to flee to the borders of the countries of the Global North, which armor its borders manu militari, generating an even more rounded indecent business for these companies”.
In addition to the action carried out today, Desarma Madrid has called for a protest rally against FEINDEF tomorrow, Friday, May 19, at 7:00 p.m., at the Army Headquarters (calle Alcalá, 51), under the slogan “The war start here, let’s stop it here.”

A new pre-print paper published at bioRxiv reveals that long after a person gets “vaccinated” for the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) with an mRNA series of injections, the spike proteins generated as a result of the shots persist in their brain tissue.
Researchers out of Germany and Denmark evaluated brain tissue samples both in mouse models and post-mortem humans, looking for the presence and distribution of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.
They specifically looked at the skull-meninges-brain axis.
They found that spike protein from the shots accumulates in the skull marrow, brain meninges, and brain parenchyma, further explaining that the “injection of the spike protein alone caused cell death in the brain, highlighting a direct effect on brain tissue.”
Even long after a “positive” covid test and infection has passed, spike proteins continue to remain lodged in the human brain. Researchers say these lingering spike proteins could contribute to long-term neurological symptoms such as brain “fog” and brain tissue loss.
Analysts say misgovernance, infighting and hate politics caused the downfall of Modi’s BJP in the crucial polls.

Exit polls after the May 10 voting in the southern Indian state of Karnataka had projected that the opposition Congress party stood a better chance of forming the next government than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was in power.
Yet few would have predicted the scale of the Congress victory, coming against the backdrop of the BJP’s dominance over Indian politics in recent years, and the governing party’s ability to form governments even in states where it fails to secure a majority — often using controversial means.
On Saturday, the Congress managed to win 135 of the 224 seats in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly despite those odds, securing 43 percent votes, 5 percent more than in the previous 2018 election, and 7 percent more than the BJP this time. Modi’s party, which had won 104 seats in 2018, had to settle for 66 this time. The Janata Dal (Secular), or JD-S, the third major party in the state, got 19 seats.
Central to that outcome were local political factors, said analysts. And while reverberations from the result will echo in the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, they do not necessarily portend a dramatic shift in the national mood against the incumbent prime minister.
“The Congress leadership in Karnataka stood united and the BJP crumbled under its own misgovernance and infighting,” KS Dakshina Murthy, a veteran political commentator and author from Bengaluru, Karnataka’s capital, told Al Jazeera.
“The anti-incumbency wave against the saffron party was palpable on the ground,” he said, referring to the saffron flag of the BJP.

The big message
David Bodapati, a senior journalist covering Karnataka politics for three decades, pointed out that the Congress had won by the biggest margin of any victor in the state since 1989, when it had won 178 seats securing 43.76 percent votes.
This clear majority allows the Congress to form a government on its own, as it did in 2013.
A fractured mandate in 2018 — when the BJP was the single-largest party but short of the majority mark of 113 — led to four chief ministers under two governments sworn in over five years.
That means the state is likely to have a stable government over the next five years.
