Being that the bull is an animal that does not know how to swim, later they have to help it out and this is sometimes not possible, which is why some have drowned as happened last July in the town of Denia, echoing the news in multitude of media.
The bull is not the only victim at these festivities, let’s remember that numerous people have died this summer, not counting the hundreds of people injured, including minors, and that all this violence can also be seen by children from the stands.
In Jávea (Xàbia as it is known in the province of Alicante) a neighbor started a collection of signatures on the Change.org platform to ask the City Council and the festival commission to suppress the Bous a la mar, regarding her next celebration in from August 31 to September 5.
"Bous a la mar and Bous al carrer: torture disguised as culture and tradition" reads the petition and ensures that in these festivities "the interests of animals are not looked at."
In his petition, which already has more than 65,000 signatures against these festivities, he affirms that the Consistory “spends thousands of euros” of taxes “on mistreating animals, when the vast majority of the population does not attend because they reject them and they want another type of festivities without cruelty towards animals”.

Bous a la Mar es un festejo taurino que trae polémica desde hace años en las localidades donde se practica, y es que el objetivo de los asistentes es que el toro caiga al mar.
Siendo que el toro es un animal que no sabe nadar, posteriormente tienen que ayudarle a salir y esto a veces no es posible, por lo que algunos han muerto ahogados como ha ocurrido el pasado julio en la localidad de Denia, haciéndose eco la noticia en multitud de medios de comunicación.
El toro no es la única víctima en estas fiestas, recordemos que este verano han fallecido numerosas personas, sin contar los cientos de personas heridas, incluyendo a menores de edad y que toda esta violencia la pueden ver también los niños desde las gradas.
En Jávea (Xàbia como es conocida en la provincia de Alicante) una vecina inició una recogida de firmas en la plataforma Change.org para pedir al Ayuntamiento y a la comisión de fiestas que supriman los Bous a la mar, a propósito de su próxima celebración a partir del día 31 de Agosto hasta el 5 de Septiembre.
“Bous a la mar y Bous al carrer: tortura disfrazada de cultura y tradición” reza la petición y asegura que en estos festejos “no se miran los intereses de los animales”.
En su petición, que ya cuenta con más de 65.000 firmas en contra de estos festejos , afirma que el Consistorio se “gasta miles de euros” de los impuestos “en maltratar animales , cuando la gran mayoría de la población no asiste porque las rechazan y desean otro tipo de festejos sin crueldad hacia los animales”.
Se propone invertir el dinero en eventos culturales y de entretenimiento entre los que recoge conciertos de música, talleres de bellas artes, exposiciones, cine club, torneos de softcombat, carreras de autos locos caseros, gymkanas… y sugiere para una transición “encierros de bolas gigantes o de gente disfrazada de toros hinchables”, tal y como se ha hecho en otras localidades.
“Dispuestos a reunirse con Cultura y Festejos para proponer alternativas”
La creadora de la petición, junto a Denia Animal Save, se reunieron hace unos meses para entregar las firmas al Alcalde de Xàbia , Jose Chulvi, además de llevarlas al registro del ayuntamiento con la intención de en breve presentarlas a las Cortes Valencianas.
Además, están dispuestos a reunirse con las concejalías de Cultura y Fiestas del Ayuntamiento de Jávea para “proponer y desarrollar festejos alternativos que incluyan a todos los ciudadanos de Jávea y turistas , para por fin cambiar a unas fiestas que realmente nos gusten a la gran mayoría y sean aptas para todos.
Eventos interesantes que incluso puedan esponsorizar y subvencionar marcas, atrayendo un turismo sano a la localidad”.
Esta petición se ha hecho eco en asociaciones como Animal Save Movement, Anima Naturalis, PACMA, Dignidad Animal, etc. desde las cuales se ha convocado una manifestación el próximo día 27 de Agosto a las 18:00h en el Puerto de Jávea para concienciar a los viandantes sobre las prácticas crueles que se realizan en el interior del recinto que llevan a la muerte a los animales y para que además se puedan unir ciudadanos a la causa y expresar sus deseos de hacer un cambio a unas fiestas más sanas y libres de maltrato animal.

Yesterday at 6 am in Montreuil, the anarcha-feminist TransPédéGouine squat La Baudrière was evicted. Since November 2021, La Baudrière has been a place to live, organise politically and provide care, where many people have come and gone, and many struggles have occurred.
La Baudrière defended itself with confetti and barricades to hold out for as long as possible to keep the feminist TransPédéGouine autonomy alive. The people on site held out for 5 hours against the police, particularly on the roof.
The resources deployed were mind-boggling: over 100 police officers on site, including the Brav-M, the BAC, the BRI, a team of rope access technicians, a private security group, a fire truck with a cherry picker, ENEDIS technicians, and three drones. The neighbourhood was completely sealed off for half a day.
The barricades held after more than 5 hours of siege and unsuccessful attempts to force their way into the street. The police finally evicted the residents, who were dancing and singing on the roof with a cherry picker.
Earlier in the morning, around fifteen people who had come to support the protest were chased and then arrested. Fourteen of them were taken into custody. In all, at least 44 people are in custody.
All so that the Baudrière, and all it contains, could become yet another luxury building, with shops, offices and large flats. Here, the owner was the Louis-Étienne association, whose president is Cardinal Philippe Barbarin, who has covered up cases of paedo-criminality.
La Baudrière may have lost some of its residents, but it hasn’t lost its soul! The links and networks created over the years continue to exist. Desde noviembre de 2021, La Baudrière es un lugar para vivir, organizarse políticamente y brindar cuidados, donde muchas personas han ido y venido y se han producido muchas luchas.
La Baudrière se defendió con confeti y barricadas para resistir el mayor tiempo posible y mantener viva la autonomía feminista de TransPédéGouine. Los habitantes del lugar resistieron durante cinco horas a la policía, especialmente en el tejado.
