In a surprise move on 3oth November a large force of Kurdish SDF from Rojava crossed SAA territory and entered Aleppo in support of Syrian State forces and to defend the Kurdish neigbourhoods in Aleppo and the Shehba/Tel Rifaat enclave.
The Jihadi HTS and other Turkish funded forces seized most of Aleppo city of 2 million by default as the unprepared State forces fled..

‘The 100,000 strong Syrian_Democratic_Forces, SDF revolutionary coalition, (which ironically is still backed by the United States after being adopted to defeat ISIS ) rushed thousands of heavily armed fighters from its areas of control in Rojava, through the government-held territory of Deir Haif, to briefly occupy Aleppo International Airport, then to the Kurdish-held district of Sheikh Maqsoud in the city and even to the desperately threatened enclave of Tel Rifaat/Shehba by the Turkish border .

Tel Rifaat is a town and small enclave in the Shehba district which was left as a dumping ground for destitute refugees after Turkey’s invasion, ethnic cleansing and resettlement with its Islamic proxies of the nearby Afrin area.
Tel Rifaat is isolated and right beside the Turkish Invasion HQ in Azaz. /see map. It is defended precariously under shelling by the local YPG/J-SDF and has various IDF refugee camps like Shebha still holding up to 180 thousand Kurds from NATO/ Turkey’s invasion and ethnic cleansing of nearby Afrin, totally abandoned by the responsible international West.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region 2/12/24- The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Monday said it is working with “relevant parties” in Syria to safely evacuate the people of the strategic town of Tal Rifaat in northern Aleppo province to northeast Syria (Rojava) amid intense attacks by Turkish-backed militants.“Our forces have bravely defended our people in Aleppo, Tal Rifaat, and the Shahba region. We are coordinating with all relevant parties in Syria to ensure the safety of our people and facilitate their evacuation from Tal Rifaat and Shahba to our secure regions in northeastern Syria,” said a statement from Mazloum Abdi, commander-in-chief of the SDF.While the Kurdish-led force is still in control of the Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods in Aleppo city, its attempts to establish a corridor connecting Rojava with Aleppo and Tal Rifaat were “disrupted” by Turkish-backed militants, according to Abdi.- RUDAW

Having looted and destroyed Afrin the Islamic militia’s have agitated for years for permission to attack the Kurdish refugees in Shehba/Tel Rifaat.
Thousands of women refugees joined a demonstration in Tel Rifaat town of the Shehba Canton on Sunday 10th Nov 2019 in protest at the Turkish state’s invasion and genocidal practices in northern Syria. 40% of the population of Efrin (Afrin) now survive in this semi no-man’s land, defended by the multi-ethnic SDF of AANES, after expulsion by the Turkish invasion, plantation and Turkification of their homes and properties
Finally on 28th Nov 2024 the Syrian State forces on the border fled. Next day Kurdish SDF forces arrived to attempt a defense of the refugees and begin evacuation. But the order had already been given.

While the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its Russian support withdrew from the entire front, Kurdish forces maintain it where they have a presence.
Not only that, but the SDF has created a corridor that has allowed them to contact the two Kurdish neighbourhoods of Aleppo.
The Kurds also occupied the Aleppo International Airport, which State forced had also fled from, possibly along with Russian troops.

Assad has given the Islamists the Kuweiris military airport: what the Syrian regime left behind for the Turkish-led SNA in Kuweiris is huge MIG21, L39, helicopters, drones, radar systems and anti-aircraft systems.
.The Kurdish neighborhood of Sheikh Maqsoud is preparing to defend itself. The neighborhood is now considered surrounded and Arabs and Christians from Syria’s main city have taken refuge there

The Turkish-funded SNA managed to cut off the roads south of Al Bab at several points.
The SNA managed to completely secure the Kuweriris air base and now has a Pantsir anti-aircraft system, helicopters and L39 aircraft.

Turkish intelligence directing extremist offensive in northwest Syria: Report
AFP writes that “Opposition sources in touch with Turkish intelligence said Turkey had given a green light to the offensive.”
An AFP correspondent in HTS-held Idlib further reported that “The jihadists and their Turkey-backed allies took orders from a joint operations command.”
During the US-backed covert war on Syria that began in 2011, the CIA and allied intelligence agencies established joint operations rooms in southern Turkiye and Amman, Jordan, to direct the activities of their extremist proxies fighting the Syrian government.
Izvestia reported that the current HTS attack on Aleppo was coordinated between Turkish, Ukrainian, and French intelligence, with Israeli support and US approval.
The Russian newspaper said the assault was originally planned for March but was launched early in response to events in Lebanon.

Turkish Islamists enter Assad-abandoned Aleppo and Kurdish militias are the only ones deployed to defend it
The Kurds who control northeastern Syria do not welcome the Turkish-backed Syrian Islamists who began this week and accuse the rebels of being Turkish Islamist representatives who are spreading and fighting for Turkish interests. Among the attackers are terrorists with the emblems of the Islamic State (IS), HTS (Al Qaeda in Syria) or Uyghur Islamists.
Kurdish troops from the Yekîneyê Parastin Gel (People’s Defense Units, YPG) and Yekîneyê Parastin yên Jinê (Women’s Defense Units, YPJ) with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrived yesterday evening in northern Aleppo to provide security to Kurdish residents, specifically in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.
However, the main Sunni rebel group in the offensive, Tahrir al-Sham or HST, has demanded that Kurdish forces leave the city.
Part of the population of Aleppo, the main city in Syria, has taken refuge in the two Kurdish neighborhoods in the face of the high treason committed by the government of the Assad family (in power in a dictatorial manner since 1971) to its own population.
The Kurds’ concerns are further heightened by the presence of radical Islamist elements, such as IS, within the rebel ranks.
Emerging images and evidence show that Islamic jihadists are fighting alongside the Free Syrian Army and the HS.
Earlier this week, Turkish rebels in northeastern Syria launched a major offensive against the Syrian army and successfully captured Aleppo in a couple of days.
.HTS is led by Al-Jolani, who “Syrianized” HTS, the local branch of Qaeda, and reached a “coexistence” agreement with the Turks, who were unable to absorb HTS.
The offensive is coordinated with Turkey, which seeks to reinvigorate the Astana agreements in the face of an Assad who has been bombing Idlib and causing new waves of refugees.
But above all, Turkey wants a final ethnocidal solution to the “Kurdish problem”, especially in Tell Rifaat, as well as building its 30-kilometer-deep cushion inside Syria.
In fact, the militias controlled by Turkey have launched their own offensives, simultaneous with those of HTS in the north, from Al Bab and from Serekaniyê.
Therefore, Turkey has decided to “let go of the leash” to HTS in Aleppo, hoping that its assault will serve as a distraction and warning to Assad, facilitating the limited Turkish 4th invasion in the north.
It has completely gotten out of hand, HTS has thrown everything, and the Assadist lines were much weaker than expected, so the problem has worsened, because on top of that the Kurds are occupying the areas abandoned by Assad, thus gaining even more territory, albeit temporary.
On November 27, 2024 Al Qaeda/HTS attacked from two converging axes of advance towards Aleppo and after breaking the first defensive line, they managed to penetrate deeply.
The Assadist fortifications in the area were bad, disorganized, full of cowards living on a salary as mercenaries and with an appreciable lack of discipline, organization and diligence.

And in front of them were trained and highly motivated jihadists with brand new weapons, cars and Ukrainian drones, after a decade of little activity. And with the surprise factor on their side. So Aleppo and the entire northern front fell like a house of cards.
The Kurds, much more effective and organized, have entered Kweires and Aleppo Airport, perhaps alongside Russian troops, to secure what are probably the most important positions in the entire province.
The symbolic citadel of Aleppo – which the rebels never conquered in the Civil War – has fallen, as has the vital position of the Abu Duhur Air Base.

Al Qaeda/HTS will try to collect taxes and seize all the infrastructure that produces them income: checkpoints, mines, factories, commercial establishments, restaurants.
We can add to this the “fame” and the feeling of victory over the government forces.
But for this they must first secure Aleppo for a few weeks that will allow them to exploit its resources and transform them into equipped troops, so a quick counterattack by the government could still prevent HTS from entrenching.
In the short term, everything will depend on how many forces and how long Assad’s Syrian Arab Army can deploy, securing Janasir and its secondary road, vital to supporting Aleppo Airport and positions inside the city.

If they succeed, all is lost in the north. The jihadists could get a huge boost to their coffers and recruitment, allowing them to exponentially increase the size of their force and successfully defend the northern front from government forces.
The worst-case scenario for Assad would be for the Civil War to restart, for Iranian troops to be withdrawn from Deir ez-Zor to defend Aleppo, for the Islamic State to also re-emerge in eastern Syria, and for him to ultimately lose control of the north and Aleppo while his enemies return to Hama.
The scenario may be spiraling out of control, forcing Turkey, which certainly wants to force Trump to withdraw its troops and abandon the Kurds and would not be interested in an out-of-control Al Qaeda.
