Germany: Thousands Surround US Air Base to Protest the Use of Drones

Over 5,000 Germans formed a 5.5-mile human chain to surround the base

Thousands took to the streets in Germany to protest at U.S. Base in Ramstein

Demonstrators have formed a human chain near a US air base in western Germany to protest against lethal drone strikes.

The demonstration was organized by the alliance “Stop Ramstein – No Drone War“, which says the Ramstein base relays information between operators in the US and unmanned drone aircraft on missions over Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria and other places.

Organizers said that 5 to 7 thousand people took part in the chain near the Ramstein Air Base, the principal US Air Force facility in Europe, on a rainy Saturday.

Activists, calling for the base to be closed, described their protest as the biggest ever action against the US base…

The Radical Story Behind The First All-Women Feminist Comic Book Series

How “Wimmen’s Comix” turned the boy’s club of underground comix inside out.

by Priscilla Frank, from The Huffington Post, with thanks

WIMMENS COMIX

In 1954 the Comics Magazine Association of America formed the Comics Code Authority to regulate and often sanitize self-published mainstream comics. Depictions of violence, sex and drugs, as well as socially progressive content, were strictly prohibited.

Around 1968, an underground comix movement began bubbling beneath the surface of the squeaky clean comic realm, dominated by superheroes and their hapless side chicks. The movement, led by artists like Robert Crumb, Jack Jackson and Gary Panter, dodged the watchful eye of the Comics Code by selling their work in head shops as opposed to regulated comic stores. In doing so, they were free.

What did this new, unprecedented freedom mean for the unruly bunch of talented, defiant, and yes, resoundingly male artists? Well, among other things, it resulted in a bunch of fictional naked ladies undergoing degradation, humiliation, rape, torture and murder. And the most horribly frustrating part? It was all a big joke, and any woman who’d dare protest just wasn’t smart or cool enough to get it. Continue reading “All-Women Feminist Comic Book Classics: Extracts and History”

Inside anarchist-feminist Rojava Project (beneficiary of ‘million’ bitcoin hack by “Robin Hood”)

anarchy in Rojava..b

Undercover1's avatarUndercoverInfo

It has been intimated that as much as one million stolen bitcoins are to be donated to the Kurds via the Rojava Plan, a project that has arisen from what some argue is an anarchist-feminist ideology. A much smaller donation of $11,000 has already been made. The doner, who has been described as a modern-day ‘Robin Hood’, claims to have been behind the infamous hack of the Hacking Team last year and prior to that the Gamma Group. The Rojava Plan is one aspect of the social revolution underway in Rojava, the Kurdistan province in northern Syria, which we have extensively reported on (see up to date links at end of article).

Change in government’s energy policy blamed for job losses just as solar power eclipses coal in electricity generation

Terry Macalister Energy editor:  The solar power industry says it has seen the loss of more than half its 35,000 jobs due to recent changes in government energy policy, just at a time when solar power has eclipsed coal as a major generator of Britain’s electricity.

Experts believe ministers had cut subsidies too far and too fast, praising the “seismic”, record-breaking growth of solar in recent years.

This month the Solar Cloth Company became the latest to be put into administration, following the liquidation and 170 job losses at Solarlec two weeks ago.

Greece: Statement from CCF comrade Christos Tsakalos for June 11th

Insurrection News's avatarInsurrection News

CCFJune 11th is an international solidarity day. A day against oblivion. A day for all those who are missing from the streets.

For everyone of us that learned to count our steps within the prison yard and divide our day between locking after locking and our night in tallies.

At the same time, June 11th is a day of war. It’s a day of rebellion because law and order may rule but they do not reign.

The existence of anarchist prisoners reminds us of the existence of the anarchist war. A war that sometimes burns slowly and sometimes blinds the sky with its fires.

Every war has its losses. There are comrades that were lost to cop’s bullets or from a bomb that “was in a hurry” to explode…

Comrades that will not be beside us in the next conspiratorial rendzevous.

And then there are those who got caught in…
