Nuclear weapons free future https://www.echo.net.au/2021/12/nuclear-weapons-free-future/ ByThe Echo Mick & Deborah Stacey, Ballina , December 26, 2021 Whilst the federal government is ‘rattling sabres’, and spending more on so-called defence, the movement to abolish nuclear weapons is gathering momentum. There are now 58 countries who have ratified the UN Treaty. Boston, New York City and Minneapolis have joined the ICAN […]
In March 2020, a profile of the typical Covid victim emerged from Italy. The average decedent was eighty years with approximately three comorbidities such as heart disease, obesity or diabetes. The young had little to worry about; the survival rate for the vast majority of the population was well over 99 percent.
That portrait never significantly changed. The early assessments of Covid out of Italy have remained valid through today. And so it will prove with the Omicron variant.
The data out of South Africa, after five weeks of Omicron spread, suggest that Omicron should be a cause for celebration, not fear. Its symptoms are mild to non-existent in the majority of the infected, especially the vaccinated; hospitalization rates are over nine times lower than for previous Covid strains; deaths are negligible. That assessment will only be confirmed as the US and other western countries gather their own data on Omicron.
Yet the public health establishment and the media are working overtime to gin up Omicron hysteria. The official response to the Omicron variant provides a case study in the deliberate manufacture of fear. The following strategies are key:
Dec 26, 2021, In its prolonged freezing of Venezuelan assets, the UK continues to withhold 31 tons of its gold stored at the Bank of England, with a new Supreme Court ruling supporting the seizure.
Ultimately the UK Supreme Court has legitimized a modern expression of piracy using 19th century legal doctrines.
Any foreign state which cuts off diplomatic relations with the UK would now be wise to also withdraw its foreign reserves.— John McEvoy (@jmcevoy_2) December 20, 2021
The recent decision, CNN reported, “ruled that recognition of heads of state and government was solely the responsibility of the British government, which had recognized [opposition leader Juan] Guaidó as Venezuela’s Constitutional interim President.” _________________
Like most duplicitous corporate media, CNN pushed the narrative that Nicolas Maduro isn’t actually Venezuela’s elected president (he “claimed” the “widely disputed” election).
But, as I wrote in March, he is president, and “Venezuela’s election process has been recognized as transparent and effective, with former US President Jimmy Carter in 2012 calling it ‘the best in the world.’On the other hand, the Venezuelan opposition, as well as Western nations, have interfered with and attempted to sabotage elections.”
After 18 years of subversion, infiltration, coercion, bribery and a constant blitz of fake news the US and UK are still blockading and starving Venezuela in order to take control of its oil. Venezuelan commune movements march in support of the successful new Constituent Assembly (photo by AVN)
In any case, the UK court, drawing on the ‘one voice principle’, decided that because UK leaders like Boris Johnson regard the unbeloved Guaidó as ‘interim president’, he therefore, inexplicably, is – in spite of most of the world not recognizing him as such.
eugyppius | December 26, 2021 Early reports that Omicron is substantially milder than other SARS-2 strains are every day confirmed by new data. A month into the unprecedented South African case spike, driven entirely by Omicron, Corona deaths remain low. It’s earlier days in the United Kingdom, where Omicron is only just over half of cases. By Maria Heemskerk Source I do realize that unfortunately the international community feels like it cannot criticize anything Ukraine does since it is ‘fighting a war against Russia’ (in their eyes) and the enemy of your enemy is supposed to be your friend, but it would certainly boost the West’s credibility to draw a line. I talk about it a lot, but have never had a serious pop at defining what the term means to me, so here we go.
Patriarchy is about systems, not about individual people. It’s about beliefs, attitudes, social structures, habits of behaviour and the like.
Almost everyone living in a patriarchal system is a victim of this system – very few people actually benefit from it. Patriarchy hurts most men just as much as it hurts most women, and all gender-non-conforming people.
Patriarchy is a system based on power. It assumes that hierarchy and authority are always good and necessary.
Where it gets especially problematic is that it assumes certain people are naturally supposed to have dominance over other kinds of people.
