The far right combines the reactionary, conspiratorial, ‘confusionist’, masculinist, etc. Historically, racist and xenophobic dynamics have always worked hand in hand with misogynistic and more broadly, patriarchal dynamics. Moreover, many speak of “genderist or racialist drifts” to qualify/denigrate progressive currents.
Among the most conspiratorial fads is that of a feminism that seeks to remove women from their maternal role in order to bring down demographics and allow immigration; an aspect of what some call ‘the great replacement theory’.

In the same vein, we find the opponents of “gender theory”. These activists fantasize about manipulation of the state and the teaching profession by feminists, the “gay lobby” and the left, the aim of which would be through school programs, to appease or ‘de-gender’ children. In fact, they refuse to talk about gender, preferring to use the term sex, thus ignoring the research and reflections that have been going on for more than half a century.
Their thought, homophobic and transphobic, was heard during the Manif pour tous, soberly renamed Marchons Enfants. There is once again the fear of demographic decline, this time linked to LGBTI people. The incels (“involuntary celibates”) are among the most famous masculinist groups, alongside the MGTOWs (Men Going Their Own Way or men who have chosen to remain celibate).
Incels see themselves as nice guys, wronged by women, who deny them sexual and romantic relationships, although they say women exist to satisfy men,. They feel that they do not have their rightful place in what they call the “sex market”.
