Barclays to evict amazing Carboneria Squat Center

The iconic Carbonería (La Carbó) is about to be evicted. The property is now owned by Barclays Bank, well known in Barcelona as Butchers of mortgage defaulters.P1050327The Carboneria is an’Occupied Self Managed Social Center’, working on the Assembly system and deeply immersed in the local community.

At least 18 people have been hurt in clashes outside the Spanish Parliament in Madrid, as hundreds of protesters gathered on Saturday to demonstrate against newly proposed anti-protest legislation.

ALL POWER TO THE ASSEMBLIESJuntes Podem (catalan for Together We Can!) is the name of a working group born while preparing  the demonstration of last February 23th,  in Barcelona (see NL#40, 1) It brought together many groups, platforms, collectives and assemblies to increase strength by sharing information and strategies. Each entity meets separately and they have three comissions: contents, comunication and actions/strategy. They participate in comissions of general assembly as individuals and as groups.
