*We wondered where our wages went*

*We wasted most by paying rent*

*Since, we’ve learnt to change our lot*

*Now we’re living in a squat*

Two weeks ago we occupied the Aylesbury estate. The first block we took was violently evicted and we opened a new block, one the council had smashed up to prevent us from occupying. We are doing it up and plan to stay.

1st four Sentenced for defending Can Vies A Center

 update, 12/02: The first sentence ,3yrs9months, has now been reduced to 18 months and with no previous the victim will not have to enter prison, suffering only parole and criminal record. We hope the pressure is working and others will go free!mg_1092_as_smart_object-1

CanVies (pronounced ‘vias’) is an Occupied assembly-run Social center, set by the railway tracks in what was once a CNT Union Center 80 years ago. The occupation has lasted 17 years, surviving multiple eviction attempts due to strong local support.WE ARE CAN VIESLast year Barcelona City Council decided on frontal attack, enraged that there was growing autonomous community they didn’t control. The Expropriated Bank: Communiqué as Eviction Delayed Again.

fight for what we loveThe ‘Expropriated Bank’ is one of 7 occupied social centers in  ex banks in and around Barcelona.  Though long overdue for eviction the State has hesitated, perhaps a bit nervous after failing to evict Can Vies last year due to huge solidarity.

Maybe they don’t want to coincide with widespread public anger at the jailing of 7 activists for being anarchists.  (Mass Demos vs. Gag law and Arrest of Anarchists)

Perhaps they wish to avoid more opposition to their corrupt banks which have presided over the eviction of up to half a million people to balance their crooked books.

280 homeless occupy together in Bologna
