US forces Expensive Climate-lethal Fracked Gas on UK dependents

UPDATE UPDATE  ANOTHER  US FRACKED GAS CARGO  DUE OCT 31st

Seems like there may be a political agreement in the UK to buy much  more expensive US fracked gas and make the consumer pay.

The giant Shell-chartered 174,000-cbm LNG carrier Pan Europe is expected to arrive at the Dragon LNG facility in the Port of Milford Haven on October 31, according to the port’s shipping data. The tri-fuel diesel electric LNG carrier Pan Europe previously loaded a cargo at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction and export facility in Louisiana, the data shows.

The UK’s Dragon LNG terminal has received a <a href=”https://www.lngworldnews.com/sabine-pass-cargo-heading-for-dragon-lng/”>LNG </aFracked Gas cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass export facility in Louisiana, USA.

Sabine Pass Cargo heading for Dragon LNG

The gigantic new Sabine Pass plant exports nearly 100% Fracked Gas sourced by a fast growing web of dangerous pipelines to the hundreds of thousands of Fracking wells blighting the USA.

Destinations of US Fracked Gas as LNGChina was the biggest buyer of US Fracked gas after S Korea, (see chart) , with imports set to triple in the next few years in coal substitution. But in response to the 3rd round of US trade war tariffs on $200bn of goods China has slapped a 10% tax on US Fracked Gas imports, with a provision that it could rise in line with US import taxes.

Ironically in May 2018 China had offered to close the US trade gap with a huge increase in LNG imports. Now various reports suggest that Chinese imports of both oil and gas from the US neared zero in Sept 2018. Asia was the best market with higher prices. If the dispute continues Europe may receive even heavier pressure to import US Fracked gas.

As wide public solidarity has delayed and harassed the Fracking industry in the UK the Tory regime has bowed to US ‘Brexit blackmail’ and forced companies to accept more expensive US Fracked Gas. – “US forces EU into buying LNG – YouTube  “

Brazil In Danger: Three ‘Time Bombs’

Brazil faces Militarized Fascism: 3 ‘time bombs’ promote Far Right Coup

By Boaventura de Sousa Santos

October 15, 2018 “Information Clearing House“ –  Brazilian democracy is on the brink of the abyss. The institutional coup that was set in motion with President Dilma Rousseff’s impeachment and led to the unjust imprisonment of former President Lula da Silva is all but complete.

The consummation of the coup has acquired a meaning that is quite different from what was initially intended by many of the political and social forces that promoted it or just would not disagree with it. Some of these forces either acted or reacted in the honest belief that the coup was aimed at regenerating Brazilian democracy by fighting corruption, while others saw it was a way of neutralizing the elevation of the popular classes to a standard of living that sooner or later was to be a threat not only to the elites but also to the middle classes (among whom there were many who were the product of the redistributive policies against which they were now turning). An activist walks into a bank… Climate Actions Across Europe

Together with groups and partners, including #GasdownFrackdown, we called for action targeting banks for their role in financing fossil fuels. Here are some of the highlights:

  • In France, over 40 actions targeted Société Générale. People demanded that the bank “stops boiling the planet”. Société Générale finances the Rio Grande LNG pipeline, which would bring fracked gas from the US to Europe.
  • Geneva in Switzerland hosted a 7,000 people strong climate march. It’s most likely the biggest climate march ever in Switzerland. We were there and you can read our impressions here.
  • Protesters delivered the IPCC report to the Swiss National Bank and Credit Suisse. The report acts as a reminder that we need bold climate action to keep global warming below 1.5°C. Both banks fund projects like the Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipeline.

55 seconds of collective energy. 7000 participants from all over Switzerland. 2 strong messages: the time has come for ambitious action on climate change. The SNB must divest from fossil fuels. #ClimateAction pic.twitter.com/tKC5at6Q8x

  • Barclays was the target in Oxford, UK, where Oxford residents protested the bank’s involvement in fracking.

Activists reading out their demands in the Barclays Oxford branch.

  • The European Investment Bank got a surprise visit by climate justice activists in Lisbon, Portugal. They carried a symbolic pipeline through the city, in protest of a 160 km long gas pipeline, financially supported by the European Commission. In Belgium, action was held at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Activists carrying pipeline pieces that read “Gas is as natural as mass extinction”.

  • An Italian customer of Intesa Sanpaolo had enough and closed his account. He protests over the bank’s investment into the Dakota Access and Trans Adriatic pipelines.

Banner drops, rallies, & conferences, from Germany to Bali to South Africa! & only the beginning of #GasdownFrackdown!
In solidarity with the struggle against gas, an ally in Italy closes his account w. @intesasanpaolo bank!
