It has been almost 12 months since the Israeli government began their most recent assault on Gaza and the West Bank. The retaliation for the October 7 Hamas attack in Israel, has escalated to what the international community has called genocide, therefore, GRIID will be providing weekly links to information and analysis that we think [âŠ]
Hello and welcome to THE CHILD AND ITS ENEMIES, a podcast for and about children, especially queer and neuro-divergent kids and teens, living out anarchy and youth liberation.
From The Child and Its Enemies An anarchist educator talks GEDs, queer youth organizing in schools, how to navigate academia as an anarchist, free schools, homeschooling, unschooling, and other queer insurrection .
The Child and Its Enemies
Here at THE CHILD AND ITS ENEMIES we believe that youth autonomy is not only crucial to queer and trans liberation, but to anarchy itself. Governance is inherently based on projecting linear narratives of time and Development and gender onto our necessarily asynchronous and atemporal queer lives, and kids, teens, and everyone else affected by anti-child ageism are at the center of this form of oppression.
Our goal with the podcast is to create a space by and for kids and teens that challenges all forms of control and inspires us to create neuroqueer, feral, ageless networks of care.
I’m your host, mk zariel. My pronouns are they/them, I’m fifteen years old, and I’m the youth correspondent at the Anarchist Review of Books, author of the blog Debate Me Bruh, and organizer of some all-ages queer spaces in my city and online.
20:23|Tuesday, May 7, 2024|Ep. 4 “We were organizing and enacting mutual aid without having the words to call it that. Again, I credit my parents. They were hella organizers. Their tentacles reached way beyond our backwoods area. Without the internet.
So I actually did know at an early age that resistance was not only possible but necessary.
When the school told us asinine things like girls can’t wear pants or salute the flag or there are different rules for poor and less poor; for different colors, when we figured out that our local volunteer fire dept. was the KKK, I knew what to do. Organize and fight back.
Burn the flag, walk out of school, stand up on a desk and yell, sing, take to the woodswith your comrades. The possibilities are more numerous today, with digital media to amplify us, and youth so savvy and informed and using it to organize.”
Join us and Tom from Its Going Down, one of the more successful anarchist news organizations in recent years, to talk about what got them into this work, how its going now, and thoughts about what people should be doing in this moment. Music is “Wrecking Ball” by Mother Mother. Enjoy
An episode on Madeline Lane-McKinley and their work. We get into how it intersects with youth autonomy and liberation efforts. Heck we even talk about what childhood even means and where it comes from. Is children’s literature even possible? This and more on a long one, double interlude, let’s go!
The flimsy pretext for his imprisonment is for allegedly making exchanges between the euro and cryptocurrencies with a person who allegedly gained money from an e-commerce fraud.
Enric Duran, is famous for borrowing half a million euros in bank loans in order to donate the money to alternatives to capitalism after the Great Crash of 2008. He considers his jailing an attack by the capitalist system to “criminalize the use of cryptocurrencies”
At his trial in Barcelona the State banned his witnesses who aimed to expose the multi billion frauds of the banks themselves, So Robin (Enric) âdid a runnerâ…
Enric has been imprisoned in France for more than three months and on Friday 28th Sept Friday finally testified in the courts of Nanterre, as his mother Fina Giralt explained . We hope the State will have to release him.
According to Fina, her son was arrested by the French police on June 10 in Paris, in the accommodation he had rented to sleep, and he spent two days in the police station and then was sent to prison.
Enric admitted defrauding 39 banks of 492,000 euros, but when the trial date arrived he did not appear and has lived in exile for 12 years since then.
“They must have followed him to his flat. He stopped communicating with us and the next day we learned that he had been arrested”, details Giralt, who believes that the French police “have taken advantage of the fact that he has been wanted by the Spanish justice to take him now under the false pretext of the exchange of cryptocurrencies”.
In 2008, Enric Duran became a public figure announcing that he had stolen the 492,000 euros from different banking entities, through loans that he had no intention of returning, with the aim of denouncing the capitalist and speculative financial model, and use the money “to build alternatives from social movements”.
“From 2006 to 2008, Duran took out 68 commercial and personal loans from a total of 39 banks with no guarantees or property as collateral. He had no intention of repaying the debts, and used the money to finance various anti-capitalist movements.[3]“
He was accused of defrauding 39 banks and forgery, and spent a few months in pre-trial detention, but when the trial date arrived he did not appear and went into in hiding. Anarchist Robin Hood on Trial in Barcelona
The case against Enric was finally filed in 2023 due to the statute of limitations so the French State has jailed him on suspicion of a non crime .
Enric Duran Giralt (born 23 April 1976, in Vilanova i la GeltrĂș) also known as Robin Banks or the Robin Hood of the Banks is a Catalananticapitalist activist[1] and a founding member of the Catalan Integral Cooperative (CIC â Cooperativa Integral Catalana (CIC)1â2 â3 ) and Faircoop.[2][3][4][5][6] and helped to fund themand many other anti.system initiativesfrom the funds obtained through his “solidarity scam “,5 WIKI
The activist believes that the French judiciary is “criminalizing cryptocurrency transactions, a legal but unregulated activity”.
In 2008, Enric Duran generated an intense public debate when he announced that he had “stolen” the 492,000 euros from different banking entities, with a loan that he had no intention of returning with the aim of promoting a debate around the capitalist and speculative financial model and use the money for social purposes.
Apart from his notoriety as a Robin Hood Bank Robber Enric was an activist in the 15M anti capitalist Movement which began in Barcelona, swept Spain and was a precursor of the worldwide Occupy Movement, the Arab Spring and countless autonomous projects.
Enric was also a founding member of the revolutionary Catalan Integral Coop (2011- 2017) as well as the ‘anti-money’ crypto currency Freecoin linked to the FairCoop, all now closed down by rampant capitalism but with wide latent support.
“They have taken advantage of the fact that he has been wanted by the Spanish justice system to take him now under the pretext of exchanging cryptocurrencies”, denounces Fina Giralt, mother of the activist.
There is a growing number of 3rd and 4th world anarchists in the UK deprived of spaces that center our voices. A lack of infrastructure has made it harder to engage, celebrate and agitate together.
The inspiration behind us getting together to at least try to make this happen comes from the militancy of racialized communities in this country standing up for themselves.
As such the first volume of the mag will be centered around these manifestations of autonomous community self defence both in recent memory and in our history and traditions.
Articles not on that topic are welcome too, you do not need to be an intellectual and there is no minimum for submissions but due to size constraints around 4 pages of A4 would be the maximum we can take.
(Though, we can help create zines of larger articles and distribute them too if you fancy) Poetry is also, of course, welcome and deeply appreciated too.
The magazine is anti-copyright and will be available in print for donations, online for free and also in audiobook form also for free if all goes well. No one turned away for lack of funds.
P.S. Preferred format for submissions is plain text via email so we can reformat these things quickly.
Deadline for volume 1. 30/09/24
If you want to submit content or stock the magazine once its out, you can contact us by Email: fawnarchy@grrlz.net or on the various social medias we use via inktr.ee/muntjac Source: Muntjac
As fascists descended on Bristol, hundreds of community members gathered to protect a local hotel housing asylum seekers.
The faces of families, mostly mothers and children, peered down at us from the windows of the Mecure hotel on Redcliffe Hill, Bristol.
The residents of the hotel, which is located in the centre of the city, were no doubt bewildered and anxious.

Below them 200 of us had rushed up to the entrance of the building and linked arms across the doorway. I was one of those in the crowd and knew that the mob couldnât be far behind.
Tense chatter of coordination broke out as we decided who would form the front lines of defence.

Moments later, 60 inebriated thugs appeared at the bottom of the hill and began shouting, marching towards us with none of the discipline but all the intention of a Nazi battalion.
We knew what would come next and stood tight together, readying ourselves for the fight…… continues. HEREhttps://www.huckmag.com
The symbolic and universal Peace sign was flown high and proud through the sniper-chaperoned streets of Manchester as hundreds of thousands of concerned UK citizens descended upon Oxford Road to oppose the Tory Partyâs austerity measures. The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) bloc arrived with hundreds of supporters to send a clear message of defiance [âŠ]
Beautiful Trouble is a constantly evolving web toolbox, and an international network of artist-activist trainers whose mission is to help grassroots movements be more creative and more effective. Â
However it has been criticized by anarchists as being ‘a handbook for western middle class pacifist ONG’s looking for grants’.
The project has been ongoing since 2012, successfully sharing the accumulated wisdom of decades of creative protest with todayâs generation of change-makersâ experiences on the frontlines.
Beautiful Trouble lays out the core tactics, principles and theoretical concepts that drive creative activism, offering an array of tools to help activists learn from recent successes and failures, and from the broad, rich history of our struggle(s).
There are currently five modules; Tactics, Principles, Theories, Case Studies and Practitioners, all excellently researched, brilliantly written and painstakingly cross referenced, full of insights for cynical old artist-activists and fresh faced noobs alike.
The materials are being updated and added to constantly, if youâve got something you want to share or add, you can get involved, here.
âWe encourage readers to explore our website, beautifultrouble.org, which is more than simply an appendage to the book, but in fact stands as perhaps the fullest expression of the project. In an easily navigable form, the website includes all the bookâs content as well as material that, due to constraints of both space and time, we were unable to include in this print edition.
