Sitting on plastic chairs, around a plastic table, inside a room with thick cement walls and massive, steel doors, was Marie Mason, Peter Werbe, and me. On top of the table was a little bag of peanuts and a bag of very mediocre trail mix. These are the only vegan options available from the vending machines in the room Peter and I were taken to before we were escorted into the visitation room in Marie’s cell block. 30 prisoners hungerstrike over death of Alik in Deportation Prison

Thirty people on hunger strike in the Aliens Internment Prison in Barcelona reported another version in relation to the death of an Armenian citizen

About 30 inmates of the Aliens Internment Prison (CIE ) in Barcelona have begun a hunger strike to denounce the events that occurred the morning of December 3 , which ended with the death of a citizen of Armenian origin. Manukyan Aramis , but his friends and acquaintances called him Alik . He was 32 years old, had a daughter of seven years and had spent 12 days in the internal CIE Zona Franca . Juntes Podem (catalan for Together We Can!) is the name of a working group born while preparing the demonstration of last February 23th, in Barcelona (see NL#40, 1) It brought together many groups, platforms, collectives and assemblies to increase strength by sharing information and strategies. Each entity meets separately and they have three comissions: contents, comunication and actions/strategy. They participate in comissions of general assembly as individuals and as groups. Femicides in Brazil Hit Civil War Proportions

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 28 2013 (IPS) – The number of femicides – gender-related murders – in Brazil has reached civil war-like proportions. In just 10 years 40,000 women were killed in this country merely for being women.

God Goofs Up: Christmas Star crashes into Sun

Looks like the Christian God has missed his big chance.

The comet ISON was billed to shine day and night over Christmas, coming closest to Earth on 26th December. (One day late but the date of Christmas has always been an approximation.)

All round Earth priests and clergy were gearing up to make a killing.

This would be proof that God exists and business would be booming!

They looked up and saw a star shining in the east, beyond them far;
And to the earth it gave great light, and so it continued both day and night

Público reported : ” The 19 antifascists arrested in police operation Thursday demonstration at the Complutense University of Madrid on 20 – N have been released with charges after giving evidence at the headquarters of the Courts of the Plaza Castile .
