Beavers hunted to extinction in England finally back with legal protection + UK Rewilding Lists- photos

‘Nature’s engineers’ who create wetlands with their dams are recognised as native UK wildlife.. back from 400 year extinction!

Beavers are to be given legal protection in England, meaning it will be illegal to kill or harm them as they are formally recognised as native wildlife.

There are now approaching 1,000 beavers living wild in the rivers and streams of Britain.

This is a step forward for the charismatic rodents, which were hunted to extinction in the country 400 years ago but have reappeared owing to illegal releases around the country.

The government has also been licensing beaver releases inside enclosures, and some environmentalists hope that later this year in the upcoming beaver strategy there will be permissions for the rodents to be released to roam wild.

It is thought there are hundreds of beavers already living wild along England’s waterways, with some experts believing there could be as many as 800.

Legislation will make it an offence to capture, kill, disturb, or injure beavers, or damage their breeding sites or resting places. Photograph: Jeppe Gustafsson/REX/Shutterstock

New legislation, due to come into force on 1 October, will make it an offence to deliberately capture, kill, disturb, or injure beavers, or damage their breeding sites or resting places – without holding the appropriate licence.

The animals are known as “nature’s engineers” as they create wetlands – an important habitat for many plants and animals – when they build dams. In doing so, they also prevent flooding and drought-related problems such as wildfires by keeping water in the land.

Derek Gow, a farmer turned rewilder who is known as one of the country’s leading beaver experts, said: “The news today that beavers will be afforded legal protection in England is both appropriate and welcome.

“We have been very slow to recognise the critical role that this species delivers in the creation of complex wetland landscapes, which can afford resilience against the twin extremes of flood and drought. All they need from us to guarantee this goal is understanding, tolerance and space.”

Hedgehogs and water voles face extinction in new Red List for British mammals /// Endangered water voles to be reintroduced to London

There was confusion this week as the plans were due to be announced earlier, but appeared to have been pulled at the last minute.

Craig Bennett, chief executive of the Wildlife Trusts, said at the time: “Clarity around legal protections for beavers are crucial if populations are to recover and thrive long term – it is extremely disappointing that this legislation has been brought to a juddering halt, with no explanation why.

New study shows ivermectin can reduce chance of death by 92% – But WHO, NIH, and FDA all say DON’T USE IT

The WHO, NIH, and FDA all recommend that you avoid using Ivermectin, causing millions of ‘extra deaths’ due to institutionalized corruption

A new large prospective observational study of 88,000 people shows ivermectin works; the greater the dose, the better it works.

Here’s a snip from one of the tables on hospitalization rates in a matched group of 283 patients:

There were 0 COVID hospitalizations in the group of regular ivermectin users compared to 10 in the irregular user group.

July 23 is World Ivermectin Day ..

Let’s get this treatment available to ALL..

How does the WHO react?

They ignore it of course!

The WHO has not updated their treatment guideline for Ivermectin in over 1 year. New studies are ignored since they are relatively small.

But this one was relatively large since it was everyone in a small city (223,128 residents of Itajaí).

This study doesn’t justify modification of their treatment guidelines. Ivermectin is to be avoided, except in a clinical trial:

Ivermectin study data

Here is the data on ivermectin studies from c19early.com. Do you see a pattern to the studies? Lower mortality in 46 studies. Can you cite a drug with 46 studies showing a mortality benefit that was later found to be harmful to patients? Of course not! The level of evidence is extraordinarily consistent.

Here is the data that the WHO relied on to make their assessment not to use ivermectin:

If you were offered a drug like this, most every person would take it. But the WHO basically says you should run in the other direction.

Here’s what the WHO recommends you take instead (Molnupiravir, Sotrovimab):

In the summer of 2012 the Kurdish people of northern Syria set out to create a multiethnic society in the Middle East. Persecuted for much of the 20th century, they dared to try to overcome social fragmentation by affirming social solidarity among all the region’s ethnic and religious peoples.

As Syria plunged into civil war, the Kurds and their Arab and Assyrian allies established a self-governing polity that was not only multiethnic but democratic.

Welcome, to This Is America, July 21st, 2022.

On today’s episode, we speak with Minerva, a full-spectrum mid-wife, herbalist, and abolitionist, about the struggles ahead now that Roe v Wade has been overturned and how we should be thinking about organizing our communities to meet our needs directly.

We then switch to our discussion, where we touch on the mass police repression in Akron, Ohio in the wake of the police murder of Jayland Walker, the growing housing crisis, and much more.

All this and more, but first let’s get to the news!

Living and Fighting

Class War

Hundreds of independent truckers are holding pickets and disrupting commodity flows at the Port of Oakland in protest of a new law that threatens a large section of the workforce from being able to pick up jobs from shipping companies. Meanwhile in cities like Seattle, Detroit, and Boston, Starbucks workers have gone on strike in the face of ongoing attacks by management against newly unionized stores.

In Minneapolis, camp defenders mobilized to push back against yet another tent city eviction. According to Unicorn Riot:

On July 8th, dozens of community members rallied at the encampment in the early morning hours and staved off what many thought was an eviction attempt by the city. [One resident] told Unicorn Riot that she’d heard the police will stay away “as long as there’s defenders present.”

In Lockport, New York, mobile home owner’s rent strike has now entered its third month. Tenants in Laurel, Maryland launched a rent strike recently over housing conditions and have forced landlords to the table as tenants in Louisville, Kentucky have also launched a rent strike to demand repairs.

Gold Mining Mafias murder Indigenous Resistance leader Virgilio Trujillo as Amazonia, Venezuela province trashed

from thefreeonline 21st July 2022

Under the new constitution approved in 1999 when the Chavez led Revolution came to power in Venezuela the hundreds of small surviving indigenous groups and their Commune culture were granted a special place and dignity.

However the landowning oligarchy, in power since the Spanish conquest disagreed and many wished they had completely exterminated the indigenous peoples.

So either support or opposition to indigenous rights and culture became one theme in the media, street and military battle between the mass popular revolution and the ex rulers and upper middle class.

Vigilio Trujillo, who was murdered last week by hitmen for opposing the Goldrush mafias in Amazonas, Venezuela

The opposition, backed as always by the USA, CIA and military, corporations, some ONG’s and the western mass media, succeeded in closing down the key oil industry, blockading trade and branding Chavez and the revolution as execrable totalitarians.

Despite various military coup attempts from the USA the state run revolution survived, due to key army support, strong social programs, and mass popular and nationalist approval, including from the Communes Movement, which dated back to Indigenous times.

With the blockage of the National Parliament, hunger, bankruptcy and intense sanctions and international pressure the State became more repressive, jailing opponents and protestors.

The popular Constituent Assembly was also organised, in parallel to the bourgeois parliament. It works with quotas of seats for various social and ethnic groups, like indigenous, women, the communes, unions, etc.

Special elections were also recently organised in Indigenous areas, in the spirit of reparations, with guaranteed number of seats…

All in all both the Venezuelan state and hundreds of civil society and indigenous groups are making an effort to repair centuries of terror and extermination.

However hatred, racism and killings continue, often by far right mercenaries linked to the much greater state and US sponsored killings across the border in Colombia, where thousands of indigenous, community and ex FARC members have been murdered with impunity.

(Although we now at last have a progressive President in Colombia, Petro still only has minority power against the entrenched oligarchy).

The killings, devastation and severe repression of Indigenous folks in the southern Amazonas State stems mainly from a plague of artesanal gold miners organised in militarised mafias , and extending their operations from Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, etc.
