I’m a woman. I’m a feminist. And I am angry!

I am angry that I live in a country that doesn’t allow women access to safe, legal abortion.

I’m angry that despite thousands of people taking to the streets to demand that the Eighth Amendment be repealed, the government said a referendum on the issue is not a priority for them.

I’m angry that I live in a country with one of the lowest rates of conviction for rape cases in Europe. Continue reading “I’m a woman. I’m a feminist. And I am angry!”

Feminism doesn’t need more Inspiration—it needs more Anger

angry women

From the stage of the Women in the World (WITW) conference, a summit organized by media powerhouse Tina Brown for the sixth year in a row, SUNITHA KRISHNAN, a feisty Indian anti-trafficking activist, ASKED THE AUDIENCE: “Why are we silent? Women hold Biggest Ever Feminist Strike Day yet

On Wed 22 Oct thousands of women went on social and work strike in the biggest action yet of the Vaga de Totes ( Womens strike of everybody) movement.Vaga de totes (Strike of everyone) is a collective of women “tired of social, economic and legal politics that threaten seriously our rights, our dignity and our freedom” as we can read in their manifesto.

Feminism is the radical idea that we women are people
Feminism is the radical idea that we women are people

They talk about: the conservative laws on abortion and assisted reproduction that want to control the woman’s body;

the femicide ; the cuts in health care, social assistence and education;

the repression; the immigration laws and the health care apartheid and – last but not least – the laboral reform that increases the gender discrimination. In Praise of Rebel Women..by a contrite macho man

by Héctor Abad

translated from mujeres sin fonteras y sin bozal.  with thanks

Incorrigible sexists with macho culture as an ancestral heritage are instinctively bothered when these women defend themselves instead of submitting to their will.

At 1:56 find out the annoying question every feminist gets asked, at 7:00 things get emotional in a good way, and at 7:44 you don’t want to miss it when she basically “drops the mic” and answers that annoying question with an even better one.

A TED Talk That Might Turn Every Man Who Watches It Into A Feminist? It’s Pretty Fantastic.

comment: ”Great how he exposes the rampant male violence against women, children and other males in Nth American society. Then we find out his day job is controlling such violence inside the US military,! That is, to make them more efficient at State and Capitañlist violence against the rest of us. The US now has Special Forces in 92 couintries acting with zero democratic control.”
