Esta fue la gran oportunidad de Craig para conseguir un permiso de perforación , para impulsar sus acciones y hacer otra fortuna. Él ya había ganado $ 20 millones (approx) de la fusión de su compañía anterior, Realm Energy con el  San León, de la que también es director general, después de conseguir 10 permisos para frackear en el norte de España y así multiplicar los precios de las acciones, (era dueño de más del 30% de Realm). By Stephen Lacey  New data from the World Meteorological Organization showed that carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide levels hit record highs in 2011. As of last year, concentrations of CO2 — one of the most abundant heat-trapping gases — hit 390.9 parts per million. (350 ppm is what many scientists say is the upper limit on “safe” levels of CO2).

According to WMO, we’ve seen a 30 percent increase in “radiative forcing” — i.e. the amount of heat trapped on earth — since 1990.

To prevent climate breakdown, coal burning should be in steep decline. Far from it: the International Energy Agency reports that global use of the most carbon-dense fossil fuel is climbing by around 200 million tonnes a year(10). This helps to explain why global emissions are rising so fast.

To stop at +2 degrees most fossil fuels already discovered must stay in the ground. Developing new coal, oil, gas and fracking is plainly climate suicide, and would be banned but for the criminal sabotage by these same Corporations of climate mitigation talks. Prospecting for more fossil fuels is clearly a crime against the planet. In this scenario any citizens action to stop this is morally justified, no matter how ”illegal” it may be. On Thursday, December 27th, in Houston, TX, residents of Manchester gathered with allies to issue new demands on Valero. “We demand to know what you are forcing us to breathe!  ¡Exigimos saber lo que nos están obligando a respirar!”

The community came together in a celebration of unity and strength.  Manchester is populated almost completely by Latin@s, and surrounded on all sides by industry.

A massive Valero refinery looms over the community’s only park and its smokestacks poison the people who live there 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  Manchester is plagued by a long list of diseases and ailments including asthma, respiratory disease and inflammation, infertility, birth defects, and a myriad of deadly cancers.  The National Disease Clusters Alliance reports (pg. 2) that children living within two miles of the Houston Ship Channel have a 56% higher likelihood of developing leukemia than those who live more than ten miles away. It was the year of living dangerously. In 2012 governments turned their backs on the living planet, demonstrating that no chronic problem, however grave, will take priority over an immediate concern, however trivial. I believe there has been no worse year for the natural world in the past half century.

Three weeks before the minimum occurred, the melting of the Arctic’s sea ice broke the previous record(1). Iconic remnants of the global megafauna – such as rhinos and bluefin tuna – were shoved violently towards extinction(2). Novel tree diseases raged across continents(3). Bird and insect numbers continued to plummet, coral reefs retreated, marine life dwindled. System Change, Not Climate Change
The governments of the world are currently meeting at the Global Climate Summit in Doha, but it is clear that the leaders of the wealthier countries of the world, like the United States, are opposing any significant changes that are necessary to reduce carbon emissions and avoid further human suffering and environmental destruction.
Global Climate Summits have been taking place for nearly 20 years now and the global powers have been unwilling to stop the devastating effects of both the burning of fossil fuels and the economic system of Capitalism, which is the root cause of climate change.
Almost every day there is new evidence of glaciers melting, waters rising, intense rains, hurricanes, drought, heat waves and unpredictable weather patterns. 
Look at the damage that Hurricane Sandy did on the east coast.
We all know something is not right. The world leaders will not solve this and the media will not tell us the truth about the seriousness of climate change.

It is clear to us that change will only come about from the grassroots, from a rejection of the system of Capitalism and a movement towards climate justice. 
We hung two banners – There Is No Planet B – to illustrate the urgency of the problem, and – Burn the Rich, Not Fossil Fuels – to name the culprits for our current climate predicament.

At least three cities on Mindanao’s east coast remain cut off after bridges collapsed and roads were swept away by floodwater.

As they become more common, climate related disasters may allow prosecution of the big Oil Companies, which they could be sued for billions for willfully dumping CO2 in the air for profit, with clean alternatives available.

You cannot say that one climate massacre is caused only by climate change, but statistically we know that they are. Just as a child with thyroid cancer living next to Fukushima may have contracted it by chance, but if the cancer rate has increased 1000%, then nine out of ten victims are caused by the Nuclear meltdown.

Super Typhoon BOPHA with 275kph winds to hit Philippines.. update

6th Dec. last Update..  unfortunately we were right. Cateel was devastated with at least 28 dead, hopefully the report/warning below, which came out 1 day before and was read by over 3000 people on the net, helped some people escape to safety.

”Davao Oriental Governor Corazon Malanyaon said initial reports indicated that in one town, Cateel, 95% of the buildings had been damaged. Twenty-three people had drowned or were buried under fallen trees or buildings there, she said…..” the massacre toll has risen to at least 500 with more than 400 others reported missing and about quarter of a million people made homeless.At least three cities on Mindanao’s east coast remain cut off after bridges collapsed and roads were swept away by floodwater.The sheer numbers of refugees have overwhelmed the Philippine disaster agencies prompting  government to call for international aid to help cope with the mega disaster.The death toll is expected to continue rising.
