This event is inspired by the call out for a day of action against prisons in the New Year of 2010/2011, which happened again in 2011/2012 and again last year, & remains relevantly unchanged.

Noise demos outside of prisons in some countries are a continuing tradition. A way of expressing solidarity for people imprisoned during the New Year, remembering those held captive by the state. Sitting on plastic chairs, around a plastic table, inside a room with thick cement walls and massive, steel doors, was Marie Mason, Peter Werbe, and me. On top of the table was a little bag of peanuts and a bag of very mediocre trail mix. These are the only vegan options available from the vending machines in the room Peter and I were taken to before we were escorted into the visitation room in Marie’s cell block. The Barcelona  or Facebook Five have been imprisoned without trial in punishment mode since 15 May ’13. Their only ‘crime’ is sharing provocative photos and graphics on Facebook, and promoting anarchist anti-capitalist ideas. (see links below)

Save California hungerstrikers.. help NOW

“Man Down!” That’s the cry prisoners shout to the guards when a man needs immediate medical attention. The guards at Corcoran State Prison did not respond to the cry, and hunger striker Billy ‘Guero’ Sell died on July 22, 2013.

The arrest of Irina was prolonged until 2nd of October. She was arrested 2nd of July 2012, so now Irina has already spent more than one year in prison without a court! It has been over two months since the arrests and the media are NOT talking about these young people.They dont remind us that they are still imprisoned without trial. They dont inform us that they could remain a long time in this situation.

Last week the five anarchists in Barcelona were dispersed to various prisons , all in the Madrid area, before they were in jail in Soto del Real (Madrid) . They remain in custody due to ‘risk of flight’ and in solitary confinement under the ‘FIES3’ regime as decreed by Judge Pedraz, the case manager.
