Pola Roupa gets life plus 25 years jail accused of blowing up Greek Central Bank without victims.

Pola Roupa, a member of Greek urban guerrila group Revolutionary Struggle, has been sentenced to life and 25 years imprisonment over the bomb attack on the Greek National Bank and the offices of the IMF in Athens in April 2014.

The attack destroyed the front of the National Bank. Nobody was hurt, as people who conducted the attack took precautions and informed the authorities before the blast, allowing enough time for evacuation.

According to the prosecution, the attack could have been much more damaging if not for the security guard who managed to lower the metal shutters at the Greek National Bank before the evacuation, hence preventing the total collapse of the building. Should the building have collapsed it would likely have  resulted in the destruction of Greek banking system and massively damaged the Greek economy. This Monday, December 18, after he was discharged from the hospital at Korydallos Prison, Nikos Maziotis was transferred to Unit 5 and is no longer under special detention / isolation regime. Therefore since our demands regarding our imprisonment have been met, Pola Roupa has terminated the hunger strike and will stay for a few days in the Korydallos Prison hospital to recuperate.

Our struggle does not end here. Article 11 and the fascist provisions of the new prison code in general are still ahead of us. We will not remain idle. The fight continues. The solidarity of comrades outside the walls was and is decisive. Strength to everyone. Continue reading “Victory! Nikos and Pola end Hunger Strike. Victory!”

Hunger Strike .. Anarchist Comrades Pola and Nikos Forced into Hospital

Athens, Greece: Involuntary hospitalization of Nikos Maziotis and Pola Roupa

Revolutionary Struggle members Nikos Maziotis and Pola Roupa are on hunger strike since November 11th 2017.

The two imprisoned comrades are fighting against isolation measures; against specific provisions of the new correctional code aimed at repressing them as high-security prisoners; against the proposed detention of high-security prisoners in police stations; against the intended reinstatement of the type C prison regime. They also demand an immediate end of the solitary confinement imposed on Nikos Maziotis (since July, the comrade is kept isolated from other prisoners by a decision of the justice ministry); an extension of visiting hours based on the frequency of visits a prisoner has; appropriate visitation rooms for incarcerated parents to meet with their children.

On December 2nd, Nikos Maziotis and Pola Roupa were transferred to a hospital outside the prisons due to the deterioration of their health condition. However, the next day both comrades asked to be sent back to the prisons because eventually they were not permitted unhindered phone communication with their child. Continue reading “Hunger Strike .. Pola Roupa vows to Fight as her comrade Falls

Greece: Open letter of Revolutionary Struggle member Pola Roupa from clandestinity

from Contra Infos with thanks

polaOn July 16th, 2014 the armed dogs of the establishment unleashed a fierce manhunt, and comrade Nikos Maziotis, member of the Revolutionary Struggle, was hit by a cop’s bullet and fell covered in blood. The comrade gave his battle against the cops that were chasing him. The state apparatus in its totality expressed triumph at the arrest of the “No 1 most-wanted fugitive” in the country……

UPDATE 26/08/14.. Write to Nikos

Sending books to inmates is banned in Diavata prison, where Nikos Maziotis is currently incarcerated. So, the comrade can only receive letters (at best some news reports, too). It is obligatory to indicate a sender address, otherwise letters are not delivered.    To write to the comrade:

…….So did the criminal and real arch-terrorist Samaras, whose government took over the reins from the former pro-memorandum governments in a campaign for the biggest social genocide that has ever occurred in Greece in a time of “peace”. Samaras has used the arrest of Maziotis as a means to the stabilization of his faltering government, in order to support a political and economic regime with rotten foundations, which has long been discredited in social consciences.nikos-maziotis-libertad
