Right now over 300 people, mostly Kurdish prisoners in Turkey , are on indefinite hunger strike, and many of them are reaching the stage of permanent health damage and death.
They are striking not to protest their obvious innocence or the shocking conditions, but for the right of their leader, Ocalan, to have contact with the outside world.
Ocalan in the past has declared long ceasefires with the Turkish State rejecting terrorism and separatism  in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the 15 million Kurdish population.
That seems a strange thing to die for, but Ocalan in the past has declared ceasefires with the Turkish State which have lasted years

So when the hunger strikers demand Ocalan be allowed to speak they are demanding the first step in a new peace process, and the end of the ongoing anti Kurdish pogrom in Turkey and the north of Syria.
But because the PKK is branded as terrorist by the US they get little international support.
Turkey is the real terrorist, with documented massacres or mass killings of Kurds in 1930, 1978, 1987, 2009, 2011, and 2016
The Turkish state has impunity though it is the real terrorist, with documented mass killings of Kurds in 1930, 1978, 1987, 2009, 2011, and 2016……
Letters from Leyla Güven to the women of the world
Dear women,

Even though our geographies are divided by thousands of kilometers, I’m glad you heard my voice. Even though we are from very different corners of the world, as women, we always feel. As Hypatia says, “none of us resemble each other, but the things that unite us are greater than those that separate us.” We are all sisters. What unites us the most is our struggle for freedom, our resistance against all kinds of fascism, against the dictatorship and the patriarchal mentality. 300 on Hunger Strike – How Ocalan Transformed the PKK into Anti-Terrorists

That seems a strange thing to die for, but Ocalan in the past has declared ceasefires with the Turkish State which have lasted years and sparked a promising peace process.
Ocalan above all is responsible for rejecting terrorism, stalinism and the fight for a new state in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the 15 million Kurdish population.
So when the hunger strikers demand Ocalan be allowed to speak they are demanding the first step in a new peace process, and the end of the ongoing anti Kurdish pogrom in Turkey and the north of Syria.
But because the PKK is branded as terrorist by the US they get little international support.Turkey is the real terrorist, it certainly has a poor human rights record, with documented massacres or mass killings of Kurds in 1930, 1978, 1987, 2009, 2011, and 2016.
It has repressed and discriminated for decades against its Kurdish population, including by trying to destroy its separate culture. Continue reading “300 on Hunger Strike – How Ocalan Transformed the PKK into Anti-Terrorists”

Spain: Prisoners Resisting Cruelty Start Hunger Strike on May 1st

COMUNIQUES> NEWS> Female and Male Prisoners> SPAIN:

RESISTING PRISONERS  WILL START HUNGER STRIKE THIS MAY 1st

The distancing of prisons from cities and inhabited areas, the mental walls, the lack of conscience, the belief in a line between “the good guys” and the “bad guys” … we do not know what the reasons are, nor which of them has more strength so that we have reached this point, in which the people who are locked in the Penitentiary System, matter so little and generate this terrible lack of empathy outside.

We want to take out, for a moment, the voice of these people who are fighting. They themselves have written a proposal of collective struggle where they show “the situation in which we are systematically subjected to abuse of power, aggression, continued physical and mental torture, and inhuman and degrading conditions of existence in many aspects: medical-sanitary abandonment, labour exploitation, legal defenselessness, cultural discrimination, non-existent freedom of expression, etc. “

Faced with this situation; from within, from the incarcerated people, a proposal of Collective Hunger Strike has emerged to throw a ray of light on the normalized violence in prison, to reach “out”. Continue reading “Spain: Prisoners Resisting Cruelty Start Hunger Strike on May 1st”

Victory! Nikos and Pola end Hunger Strike. Victory!

Just when comrades were preparing for their imminent deaths the Greek authorities have finally backed down on their evil campaign of victimisation and isolation.

A welcome anti-Christmas present  for Pola,  Nikos and their family and supporters, though they still face a while in jail… Nikos got Life + 129 years!

by

RS

This Monday, December 18, after he was discharged from the hospital at Korydallos Prison, Nikos Maziotis was transferred to Unit 5 and is no longer under special detention / isolation regime. Therefore since our demands regarding our imprisonment have been met, Pola Roupa has terminated the hunger strike and will stay for a few days in the Korydallos Prison hospital to recuperate.

Our struggle does not end here. Article 11 and the fascist provisions of the new prison code in general are still ahead of us. We will not remain idle. The fight continues. The solidarity of comrades outside the walls was and is decisive. Strength to everyone. Continue reading “Victory! Nikos and Pola end Hunger Strike. Victory!”

by  mikail firtinaci         An anarchist comrade along with several others were arrested violently by the police during a solidarity demonstration with Nuriye Gulmen and Semih Ozakca*.

Yesterday an anarchist-comrade along with several others were arrested violently by the police during a solidarity demonstration with Nuriye Gulmen and Semih Ozakca*. Comrades in question are held arbitrarily by the police in custody and in protest of their treatment, yesterday they went on an indefinite hunger strike until they are released.

As the anniversary of the Gezi Revolt approaches (the end of May) fascist Erdogan government fears another revolt against its violent dictatorial regime. It is keeping every protester it can arrest as hostage. I will update this as more information arrives. As always, but as it becomes more and more clear everyday, our only weapon against the state and sectarian violence directed everywhere against the working class is international solidarity! The anarchist prisoner Umut Firat (imprisoned for 23 years) has passed Day 50 of his hunger strike. Recently, Unut was transferred to prison number 4 Yenisakran, type T (according to the security levels of the Turkish prison system) in Izmir itself. (see address below).

Body searches at the hands of regime guards, and prison conditions are some of his grounds for protest. The demands of the prisoners, the repression and torture suffered daily, are ignored.Image result for devrimci anarsist, Umut Firat

Conditions of detention in Turkey, especially since the failed coup, have worsened significantly. Prisoners sleep in groups of 19 in cells that fit 14, are forced to sleep on blood-stained beds, only two visits of 45 minutes are allowed every month….

You can try to Send Umut a card  HERE

SEAN SWAIN IS ON HUNGER STRIKE

January 12, 2017    From Free Sean Swain

We received word recently from a friend of Sean’s that Sean is currently on hunger strike and has been placed in a suicide cell.

Although details are still murky, we know that Sean has been without food since December 26th. He was charged with extortion of a deputy warden and had begun a disciplinary process when he began his hunger strike and was placed in a suicide cell.

We know that the prison is recognizing his hunger strike and following the associated procedures, which include taking him to the medical unit every day and weighing him and taking his vital signs. It is unclear whether they are attempting to negotiate with him in any way. Continue reading “SEAN SWAIN IS ON HUNGER STRIKE”

Marco Camenisch’s communiqué on his prison Hunger Strike

Switzerland -Marco Camenisch–

marco andiFrom RadioAzione         Translated by act for freedom now/B.pd

Marco is a Swiss anarchist and environmental activist who has been in prison since 1991. He is serving a 18 year sentence: 10 years for using explosives to destroy electricity pylons leading from nuclear power stations and 8 years for the murder of a Swiss Border Guard whilst on the run. In 2002 Marco completed a 12-year sentence in Italy for destroying electricity pylons in Italy as part of a sabotage campaign against the nuclear industry.

Solidarity is our weapon: let’s use this weapon by sending cards and greetings to Marco. [9/10/10]

Sadly, Marco has been denied parole yfor the second time this year:
“This time the denial came from the TAR (administrative review court). To tell the truth, I’m sick and tired of dealing with the usual long-winded repressive crap, in which also the TAR simply ‘approves’ everything that has already been expressed by their worthy cronies, only adding even more meanness and maliciousness. I was surely expecting a confirmation of the denial but, to tell the truth, at least a hint of seriousness in the treatment of the ‘defense arguments’. In practice an a posteriori internment, by the end of the prison sentence, is most likely what lies ahead of me. That’s the only pointworth noting…” [11/12/13]

POSTAL ADDRESS  Marco Camenisch, Justizvollzugsanstalt Lenzburg, Postfach 75, 5600 Lenzburg, Switzerland. [Correct as of:09/02/13] Continue reading “Marco Camenisch’s communiqué on his prison Hunger Strike”
