After 200 days of incomparable historical resistance, the hunger strikes in Kurdistan, Turkey and Europe have been declared over today

We send our warmest revolutionary greetings to all comrades who took part in the hunger strike and the many resistance actions and congratulate the free peoples on this victory.

Ocalan in the past has declared long ceasefires with the Turkish State rejecting terrorism and separatism  in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the over 15 million Kurdish population.

On November 8, 2018 the Kurdish politician Leyla Güven had started her hunger strike to lift the total isolation against Abdullah Öcalan, the representative of the Kurdish people and philosophical thought leader of the revolution in Northeast Syria. Elderly mother of Suruc bombing victim jailed for seven years on terror charges

Besra Erol, the mother of Evrim Deniz Erol who died in a suicide bombing carried out by the Islamic State (ISIS) that killed 33 people and injured 104 more in Sanliurfa’s Suruc district in 2015 has been sent to jail on terror charges, Gazete Duvar news portal reported on Tuesday.

Besra Erol, 60, was on Monday sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.

She was convicted on charges that include being a member of a terrorist organization and sent to Mus E Type Closed Prison.

The mother was accused of being a member of a terrorist organization due to her remarks in a speech that she gave over the grave of her son Evrim Deniz Erol and some other press statements regarding his death.       continues below

suruc-explosion-3_3381376bJuly 20, 2015, Suruç: 34 Kurdish humanitarian volunteers were killed and about 100 injured in a suicide bombing in the predominantly-Kurdish town of Suruç near the border with Syria. Turkish officials blamed ISIS. But instead of cracking down on ISIS which at the time was covertly sponsored in Turkey,  they immediately began a blitzkrieg persecution of the Kurds themselves who were the victims, resulting in the end of the ceasefire (and the whole Peace Process initiated and maintained by the imprisoned Kurdish leader Ocalan) and unleashing the wave of Turkish nationalism that boosted Erdogan’s march to supreme dictator. ISIS never claimed the attack.

Erol’s lawyer Abdulbakir Erdogmus told Gazete Duvar that accusations against the mother are legally unacceptable. Continue reading “Mother gets 7 years for Speech at Son’s funeral ..Stop Turkish Fascism!”

Support Hunger strikers: Yonca Akici, is the 6th to Die.. Stop Erdogan!

note.. this ‘TheFreeOnline’ blog is now banned in Turkey with Dozens more pro Rojava and anti Fascist sites

Yonca Akici was in Şakran’s women’s prison for four years for her ideology and political militancy, feminist and anti-fascist. On March 29, she tried to put an end to his life to protest against the isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. She died on April  1st.

Ocalan in the past has declared long ceasefires with the Turkish State rejecting terrorism and separatism  in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the over 15 million Kurdish population.

Yonca’s body was buried in her hometown, Burunbulak village in Tutak district of Ağrı. Meanwhile, the cemetery was surrounded by security forces, only the closest relatives were allowed to attend the funeral.

Akici had been on hunger strike since March 1, and finally, yesterday, she died at the Çiğli State Hospital, where she lay severely injured.

After the autopsy, her body was sent to the Kurdish city Ağrı to be  buried.

The bodies of three other hunger strikers who have committed suicide,  Zülküf Gezen, Ayten Beçet and Zehra Sağlam were retained by the Turkish regime and buried in silence without the participation of relatives and people, while only a few members of the family were able to attend. News is suppressed in the Government controlled media with dozens of outlets closed, journalists jailed and hundreds of thousands purged..

number 7 … Siraç Yüksek,

Yet another dead political prisoner.  Siraç Yüksek who joined the  hunger strike on March 1 in protest at the “isolation” of imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Abdullah Öcalan committed suicide in a prison in the southern Turkish province of Osmaniye, being the 7th victim of such political suicides in a month, the Mezopotamya news agency reported.

Siraç Yüksek, was among the hundreds of hunger strikers in prisons across Turkey to protest Öcalan’s prison conditionsYüksek’s body was sent to the Adana Council of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.

He was arrested in May 2016 during a curfew imposed on Nusaybin at the time, according to Mesopotamia.Prisoner. Siraç died  in the T-type prison in Osmaniye.

The funeral of Siraç took place in the district of Nusaybin in Mardin. Again, only the closest family members were let by the security forces to enter the cemetery. There were brief discussions between those who were not allowed to attend the funeral and the police.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Leyla Güven in November went on a hunger strike when she was jailed on charges of ”disseminating terrorist propaganda”, that is protesting the illegal and genocidal invasion of Afrin on social media. .

Three other HDP deputies are also currently on a hunger strike seeking an improvement in Öcalan’s prison conditions.

The deputies are protesting Öcalan’s inability to speak with his lawyers, referring to it as his “isolation.”

HDP deputies criticize the silence of society in the face of hunger strikes that have been increasing among Kurdish politicians across the country.

Statement by the PKK

The PKK Executive Committee made a statement about the sacrifice actions in prisons saying: “The Great Resistance by Hunger Strike, which has been taken up by our people has  spread throughout the world. Resistance has been carried out with the slogan “Let’s break the isolation, lets destroy fascism”. With the local elections on March 31, it seems that the AKP-MHP collapse becomes clearer. Our resistance aims to overthrow the fascist mentality and genocide policy and end the system of torture and isolation …. and gain freedom. Therefore, it is important and necessary to correctly understand the line of action and not carry out individual actions. There are some actions that should not be repeated. These are the actions of the comrades Zülküf, Uğur and Ayten. We believe that all the prison comrades will act with this awareness, not individually, but in an organized manner. “

Since the launch of actions against the hunger strike that demand the end of isolation against Abdullah Öcalan, six people have now lost their lives, five of them in prison (one man and three prisoners) and one exiled to Germany.

Leyla Guven, the parliamentarian jailed for supporting Afrin who began the hunger strikes now comprising 0ver 400 people, has also called on the hunger strikers not to commit suicide. She has now gone almost 150 days without  food.

The other people who ended their lives are:

– Uğur Şakar (February 21, Germany),

– Zülküf Gezen (March 17, prison type F Tekirdağ no. 2),Image result for Zülküf Gezen,

– Ayten Beçet (March 22, closed prison of women Gebze Type-M),

– Zehra Sağlam (March 24, Oltu Type-T Prison).

– Medina Çınar (March 25, Prison of Mardin type E)

Sakar martyred in isolation protest

Sakar’s doctors announced that he lost his life in a hospital in Duisburg this morning.

Before his protest, Ugur Sakar left a note pointing out the isolation imposed upon Ocalan, the hunger strike protests and the German state’s pressure.

Sakar had saluted the hunger strikes in his letter and written, “The PKK has taught us the philosophy that ‘resistance is life’. It is our duty to resist injustice, wherever we are.”

Sakar had criticized the silence of European countries and protested the Committee for the Prevention of Torture’s (CPT) silence in the face of the hunger strikes.

Sakar had concluded his letter with: “I condemn the German state’s police brutality and political pressure agains Kurds. I invite each and every Kurd to fight for a free life, rather than living as a slave.

We will prevail. Let us, as a people, gather around the friends who gathered for the Leader in their hunger strikes.”

Next to sacrifice everything was  Zehra Saglam,
Inmate in eastern Turkey kills herself in protest of treatment of PKK leader

Twenty-three year old Zehra Sağlam, who had been behind bars for three years, began a hunger strike on Dec. 16, joining more than 160 Kurdish prisoners and several pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) lawmakers protesting the isolation of Öcalan, the site said.

Sağlam is the 3rd Turkish convict to have died behind bars while protesting the treatment of Öcalan since the hunger strike began last year.

Captured by Turkey in 1999, Öcalan is serving a life sentence on Imralı Island, where he has been barred from meeting his lawyers and been permitted limited family visits since the collapse of a peace process between the state and the PKK, in mid-2015.

The death of Sağlam follows those of inmates Zülküf Gezen ve Ayten Beçet earlier this month.

The 5th victim was Medya Cinar, 24 and a native of Cimenli in Margik, was found dead in a prison cell in Mardin on March 25, 2019.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Medya Cinar, a Kurd protesting the Turkish state, was found dead in her cell in Mardin E Type Prison on Monday.

“Today we learned that a woman, jailed in Mardin Prison and known as Cinar, has committed suicide,” read a statement from the HDP on Twitter.

At least five people have died by suicide in the past two weeks protesting the actions of the Turkish state. They include Ugur Sakar, Zulkuf Guzer, Ayten Becet, Zehra Saglam, and Cinar.

Some of the suicides have led to public demonstrations.

“The number of those [people] who have committed suicide for protesting the aggravation of isolation against Mr. Ocalan is increasing,” the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) statement added.

Cinar, 24, was arrested in May 2016 and charged with links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which is banned in the country. Justice has been slow for hundreds in Turkey who claim they are being held as political prisoners for around three years.

Right now over over 300 people, mostly Kurdish political prisoners in Turkey , are on indefinite hunger strike, and many of them are reaching the stage of permanent health damage and death.
They are striking not to protest their obvious innocence or the shocking conditions, but for the right of their leader, Ocalan, to have contact with the outside world.
Ocalan in the past has declared long ceasefires with the Turkish State rejecting terrorism and separatism  in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the 15 million Kurdish population.
That seems a strange thing to die for, but Ocalan in the past has declared ceasefires with the Turkish State which have lasted years
Former HDP deputy Leyla Guven has been on hunger strike since November in protest over Ocalan’s jail conditions.

Prominent Kurdish politicians such as Sebahat Tuncel, the co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party, and former HDP deputy Selma Irmak, have been on hunger strike for more than 60 days.

The HDP’s current deputies, Dersim Dag and Tayyip Temel, also joined the hunger strike 10 days ago.

Gulan Cagin Kaleli, a spokesperson for the Platform to Track Hunger Strikes, claimed on Friday that there were over 300 prisoners now on hunger strike over the issue.

The PKK is designated as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, and still by default by the European Union  and the United States.

Leyla Guven, an HDP MP currently on hunger strike in protest at Ocalan’s ongoing solitary confinement, recently told pro-PKK Denge Welat radio: “Now our friends carry out sacrifice actions … I bow to their actions.”

“But I say that let everyone know that whenever one friend commits such actions, I lose one part of my life.”

She urged others not to commit suicide.

Turkey will hold municipal and provincial elections on March 31. Erdogan has complete dictatorial power and can rule by decree, but his AKP party could lose ground despite their racist campaign , due to the present economic recession.

An HDP alliance including most Kurdish parties has campaigned on the election being a referendum against the Justice and Development Party (AKP) dominated government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The HDP deny links to the PKK. The former performed well in last year’s presidential and parliamentary election — passing the 10-percent threshold to enter parliament with 67 seats, eight more than in the previous election.

Additionally in many Kurdish cities and municipalities the AKP appointed trustees to govern and jailed many elected deputies.. The HDP wants to retake those posts through the election.

Dear women,

Even though our geographies are divided by thousands of kilometers, I’m glad you heard my voice. Even though we are from very different corners of the world, as women, we always feel. As Hypatia says, “none of us resemble each other, but the things that unite us are greater than those that separate us.” We are all sisters. What unites us the most is our struggle for freedom, our resistance against all kinds of fascism, against the dictatorship and the patriarchal mentality. That seems a strange thing to die for, but Ocalan in the past has declared ceasefires with the Turkish State which have lasted years and sparked a promising peace process.
Ocalan above all is responsible for rejecting terrorism, stalinism and the fight for a new state in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the 15 million Kurdish population.

Erdogan betrays his Mercenaries, letting Al Qaeda/HTS take over Idlib + SAVE LEYLA GUVEN

With the spectacular betrayal and defeat of the two main militias in the Turkish paid NFL coalition the Al Qaeda (HTS) administration has taken control of the province of Idlib,  which right now is an Al Qaeda sharia regime state, sponsored by Turkey.

see below  SAVE LEYLA GÜVEN and 169 more Hunger Strikers ..

While the western media were entertained with the Erdogan/Trump daily pantomime no one seemed to notice that the Tutkish paid mercenaries sent to the Manbij border to ”bury, plunder, rape and occupy”the Rojava Revolution were mainly recently recruited NFL jihadis from Idlib, and not Erdogan’s FSA terrorists still busy destroying Afrin.

When their bases were treacherously attacked from behind by Al Qaeda/HTS the large Al Zenki  faction fled Manbij. But they arrived too late and their resistance was wiped out by HTS.

The good news is that in future Erdogan’s other mercenaries, the FSA, will be wary about him sending them to invade and plunder Rojava…

Their weapons were seized and no other faction or their Turkish sponsors helping or supporting them. According to the Lebanese al-Mayadeen TV, more than 200 militants and 20 civilians were killed  during the battle between HTS and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement. Nour al-Din al-Zenki suffered total defeat at the hands of HTS and lost all of its areas in western Aleppo.

Next in line were the biggest faction of the Turkish NFL jihadis,  Ahrar al-Sham  , who were defeated by Al Qaeda in just 3 days.

On January 9, Ahrar al-Sham groups in northwestern Hama surrendered and dissolved themselves under pressure from al-Qaeda/Hayat Tahrir al-Sham , according to local sources.  Ahrar al-Sham was the core of the new Turkish funded coalition of militant groups known as the National Front for Liberation (NFL).

However again neither other NFL factions nor Turkey intervened to support Ahrar al-Sham during the battle in northwestern Hama.

HTS launched an attack on the remaining positions of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement in the northwestern Hama countryside. The Turkish-backed faction surrendered within hours and agreed to withdraw. According to pro-opposition media the defeated Ahrar al-Sham members will get an opportunity to withdraw to the region of Afrin after they hand over their heavy weapons to HTS

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is a4il0hbs.jpg

Leader of Syrian branch of al-Qa’ida (rebranded HTS), known as abu-Muhammad al-Jolani, supports Turkey in attacking Syrian Kurds. The Islamofascist axis AKP//HTS/ISIS has been planning to subjugate or exterminate Kurds and others who stand in their way.

Then  Erdogan forced the demoralised NFL facrions to sign the agreement giving administrative control to Al Qaeda/HTS, as many fled into the already terrorist infested Turkish occupied Afrin

So to cut a long story short Al Qaeda has triumphed and is expanding out of Idlib into Hama,  Aleppo and Lattakia, leaving Assad and the Russians a bit confused.

Opposition websites agree that Turkey has cynically and murderously betrayed and destroyed its own paid allies, Al Zenki and  Ahrar al-Sham, opening the door to a general attack by Syria/SAA and Russia on Al Qaeda/HTS (because all sides have labelled HTS as terrorists while the Turkish backed groups had some defense).

Was Erdogan wrong footed by Trump’s sudden withdrawal declarations into sending his mercenaries into a trap? ??

Maybe yes this was what happened,  it was important perhaps for Turkey to make the preparations to attack Rojava real and concrete . One report suggested they hoped to get the vital  ‘airspace bombing permission’ for a new invasion from the US and Russians by appearing that the invasion was going ahead anyway.

But things are never as they seem ..  Some very suspicious circumstances..
  • Turkey has a thriving business with Idlib in the laughably named ‘demilitarized Zone’ (DMZ) via the Hatay/Turkey border. Al Qaeda/HTS is now a far-right religious administration with its own social services.
  • Turkey has expanded its ten bases in the Idlib ‘DMZ’ but made no effort to enforce the terms of the agreement.
  • Erdogan is supplying arms to his mercenaries (now seized by Al Qaeda HTS) but also all kinds of supplies, international aid, and trade, all taxed by the Al Qaeda/HTS regime which controls road access here and elsewhere.
  •  NFL mercenaries have been complaining recently in online comments that their pay has been cut (partly caused by the collapse of the Turkish Lira in which they are paid). One comment claimed ”Turkey is paying double to Al Qaeda/HTS militants” causing mass defection of desperately poor rebels.
  • So what will happen next?

Perhaps Turkey will now defend Idlib as a client state, hoping it will be one more jewel in the racist, misogynist, jihadist ‘New Ottoman Empire’.

Reports suggest the Al Qaeda takeover has caused  fear in Idlib of an all out attack by the massive SAA Syrian army which is entrenched around the east and south of the area.

The chorus of demands, no doubt orchestrated by Turkey, is resuming, asking that the Turkish army intervene to stop the ‘evil Assadis’ committing  ‘a shocking massacre of civilians’ with their ‘poison gas attacks’.

An agreed invasion or ‘increase on troops to enforce the DMZ agreement’ could make Idlib forever a Turkish Empire protectorate, and set the stage for the ”cleansing” of Rojava where Turkey promises to ”bury the Kurds in their ditches”.

Erdogan already has 10 bases in Idlib. He, or his script writing team,  are experts in threats and blackmail, (put the words ‘Erdogan Threatens’ in google and you find many pages of threats!) with ”leverage” over Russia due to key pipelines, nuclear and arms sales, etc. Leverage over Syria as he already occupies and is ‘turkifying’ Afrin, Jarablus, Azaz and Al Bab. Turkey also has blackmail ammunition  over the EU with the oft repeated threat to let loose a new flood of refugees. And over the US with the threat of leaving NATO, cancelling arms agreements, etc.

Hopefully despite all the threats and Machiavellian maneuvering, Erdogan’s plans will come unstuck again. But the increasing evidence that Turkey sacrificed its own supposedly ‘moderate’ mercenary allies to be wiped out by Al Qaeda show again what  level of War Criminals are at work.

SAVE LEYLA AND 169 MORE HUNGER STRIKERS

Jailed Kurdish opposition politician Leyla Güven has reached a critical condition and has been unable to see her lawyer for four days due to health problems caused by her long-running hunger strike, Turkish news site Diken reported.

Güven, who is both the co-chair of the Democratic Society Congress, an umbrella organisation for Kurdish groups, and a deputy for the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), is imprisoned pending trial in Diyarbakır, south-east Turkey after being arrested in January 2018 for criticising Turkey’s military operation against Kurdish militias in northwest Syria.

The Kurdish deputy is one of nine from the HDP who are currently held behind bars in Turkey, including the party’s former co-chair, Selahattin Demirtaş. The party is particularly vulnerable to prosecution due to perceived links tying it to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an outlawed group that has fought Turkish security forces for Kurdish self-rule since the 1980s.

Day 68 of Leyla Güven’s Hunger Strike in Turkish prison. Her health has rapidly deteriorated & is now at life threatening stage. Silence is no longer viable, in fact, it is complicity at this stage.

Together we will make 27 and 28 January two days of global resistance against Turkish fascism. Together we will intervene in the numbing routine of war and oppression, expressing our solidarity with various forms of action. Together we will show that this revolution is not alone!
Let us stand shoulder to shoulder against fascism!
Long live the international solidarity!
The revolution in Rojava will be victorious! Fascism will be crushed!
