A primera hora de la mañana, un nutrido grupo de activistas ha ocupado el abandonado hotel del lujo Marqués de la Ensenada de Valladolid con el objetivo de que el edificio nunca vuelva a ser un espacio dedicado a la especulación.
Alrededor de una veintena de activistas lleva una semana ocupando en secreto el edificio, aunque no ha sido hasta hoy cuando han dado publicidad a su acción.
“Un grupo de vallisoletanas hemos decidido dar un paso adelante y recuperar para la vida pública de la ciudad este espacio que se encuentra tras nosotras, y que hemos bautizado con el nombre de La Molinera.
Llevamos varios meses trabajando en materializar este proyecto que hoy, finalmente, podemos presentar públicamente. Consideramos, con todas las evidencias de nuestra parte, que tanto instituciones como propietarios han hecho dejación de funciones en la preservación de este espacio patrimonial, catalogado como Bien de Interés Cultural por la Junta de Castilla y León en 1991.
Con más de 160 años de historia, nos encontramos ante la antigua fábrica harinera de La Perla, vinculada a la actividad agraria e industrial en torno al Canal de Castilla. Vivió episodios tan relevantes como los Motines del Pan y resurgió de sus cenizas tras un devastador fuego en 1912.
Cientos de personas trabajaron entre sus muros, hasta que finalmente cesaron las actividades en 2006”, explican.
“Después el edificio, como es bien sabido, ha sido objeto de operaciones especulativas de gran calado, transformándose en un hotel de lujo cuyo responsable se fugó de la noche a la mañana dejando a la plantilla sin cobrar su salario; por cierto, las trabajadoras han ganado recientemente el juicio al respecto pero aún no han cobrado sus nóminas atrasadas, su finiquito ni sus indemnizaciones. Conviene recordar que para poder convertir la fábrica en el primer y único hotel de 5 estrellas en la ciudad hubo que modificar el Plan General de Ordenación Urbana, y que tal operación se saldó con la imputación de una docena de personas, entre ellas Javier León de la Riva y su concejal de urbanismo.
En esta rehabilitación se hizo además un uso fraudulento de los Fondos Europeos de Desarrollo Regional. Remarcamos lo sustancial de esta involución: de ser una pieza industrial importante y emblema de la soberanía alimentaria castellana a convertirse en un reducto para el turismo de unas pocas personas con elevadas posibilidades adquisitivas, y eso gracias el dinero de todas”, relatan.
En los meses que siguieron al cierre del Marqués de la Ensenada en enero de 2017, el inmueble fue desvalijado, se convirtió en un espacio de trapicheo y consumo de drogas, se destruyó o saqueó gran parte del mobiliario y de las instalaciones de luz y agua. El sótano, donde aún permanece maquinaria de gran valor patrimonial, se encontraba parcialmente inundado.
“La tarde del 28 de abril de 2018 cayó la gota que colmó el vaso de toda paciencia. Un incendio provocado produjo numerosos daños en el interior del inmueble, siendo rápidamente sofocado por varias dotaciones de bomberos.
Fue entonces cuando el Ayuntamiento procedió a blindar este espacio, cerrando las entradas unas semanas después. Si a nivel privado e institucional se ha producido una evidente irresponsabilidad, nosotras creemos con firmeza que los motivos expuestos son suficientes para no eludir la nuestra como vallisoletanas”, comentan antes de defender que “en la sociedad del individualismo, del consumismo y del paradigma del emprendimiento, hemos venido para desarrollar un proyecto útil para la ciudad, para las vecinas de los barrios a nuestro alrededor y para los movimientos sociales”.
“Hemos venido a emprender, sí, pero no para alimentar beneficios particulares y lucrativos, sino para devolver a la comunidad un espacio inutilizado en parte gracias a fondos públicos y que, de muros para dentro, se había convertido en un vertedero.
Esos son los objetivos de esta iniciativa: recuperar y revalorizar socialmente el inmueble más allá de las lógicas del mercado, poniéndolo al servicio de la gente. Que este edificio deje de ser símbolo de entramados mafiosos, de chanchullos especulativos, de la vanidad y el lujo, para convertirse en un proyecto abierto a la cultura, a la solidaridad, al debate, al estudio y aprendizaje, al activismo, a la transformación social.
En definitiva, que deje de ser un esqueleto vacío en el paisaje de Valladolid para convertirse en un organismo vivo gestionado por quienes no buscamos extraer de él un enriquecimiento monetario”, explican.
“Ante un modelo abusivo e inhumano que dificulta el derecho a una vivienda digna, consideramos legítimo que las personas busquen salidas individuales a su situación particular mediante la ocupación, pero no es esa la finalidad de este proyecto colectivo ni de este centro social”, dicen antes de aclarar que “La Molinera no tiene entre sus objetivos convertirse en una solución habitacional permanente para nadie, y que las personas que pernocten y hagan vida en el edificio lo harán en función de las necesidades del centro social”.
“Durante estos días hemos estado haciendo inventario de todos los bienes muebles que permanecen dentro, hemos estado limpiando y acondicionando el lugar, pues queremos comenzar a la mayor brevedad posible con las actividades.
Tenemos muchas ideas, que se irán materializando en función de las capacidades y recursos que podamos ir dedicándole al proyecto. Invitamos a todas las vecinas a que aporten sus propuestas y se animen a ponerlas en práctica aquí, porque La Molinera es, desde este momento, suya”, anuncian.
A la improvisada presentación de la iniciativa ha acudido un nutrido grupo de vecinos que han mostrado su respaldo a la ocupación. Algunos de ellos, con camisetas del recién creado Centro Social, como es el caso del ex concejal de IU Jesús Anta, el portavoz de Izquierda Castellana Luis Ocampo o el programador Cultural, Miguel Ángel Pérez, han posado con los que se han encargado de contar a los presentes los objetivos y el funcionamiento del nuevo espacio ocupado.
También ha estado presente la presidenta de la Federación de Asociaciones de vecinos Antonio Machado, Margarita García, que no ha dudado en respaldar la iniciativa “si como han anunciado se trata de evitar la degradación de un espacio como este”. “Puede que la ocupación sea ilegal o a legal. Pero si no se les facilita espacios alternativos ¿qué pueden hacer?”, se ha preguntado la responsable vecinal.
Nada más concluir la presentación, agentes de la Policía Municipal han identificado a los jóvenes que se han encargado de leer el comunicado redactado por la asamblea que se encargará de gestionar el nuevo Centro Social de “cinco estrellas” que hoy ha comenzado a funcionar en Valladolid.
