Italian Interior Minister Salvini orders removal of migrants from Riace

19 October 2018

Italy’s right-wing coalition government and its fascist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini have ordered the removal of all refugees from Riace, known as the “village of hospitality”, in southern Calabria. On October 2, the mayor of Riace was placed under house arrest.

Last Saturday, the Interior Ministry issued a circular declaring that all migrants living in Riace should leave the village and move into various state refugee camps. Initially, the measure was to be executed this week but on Monday the deadline was extended for a period of sixty days. This leaves the refugees to an uncertain fate.

A week ago, several thousand people demonstrated against the detention of Mayor…

US forces Expensive Climate-lethal Fracked Gas on UK dependents

UPDATE UPDATE  ANOTHER  US FRACKED GAS CARGO  DUE OCT 31st

Seems like there may be a political agreement in the UK to buy much  more expensive US fracked gas and make the consumer pay.

The giant Shell-chartered 174,000-cbm LNG carrier Pan Europe is expected to arrive at the Dragon LNG facility in the Port of Milford Haven on October 31, according to the port’s shipping data. The tri-fuel diesel electric LNG carrier Pan Europe previously loaded a cargo at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction and export facility in Louisiana, the data shows.

The UK’s Dragon LNG terminal has received a <a href=”https://www.lngworldnews.com/sabine-pass-cargo-heading-for-dragon-lng/”>LNG </aFracked Gas cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass export facility in Louisiana, USA.

Sabine Pass Cargo heading for Dragon LNG

The gigantic new Sabine Pass plant exports nearly 100% Fracked Gas sourced by a fast growing web of dangerous pipelines to the hundreds of thousands of Fracking wells blighting the USA.

Destinations of US Fracked Gas as LNGChina was the biggest buyer of US Fracked gas after S Korea, (see chart) , with imports set to triple in the next few years in coal substitution. But in response to the 3rd round of US trade war tariffs on $200bn of goods China has slapped a 10% tax on US Fracked Gas imports, with a provision that it could rise in line with US import taxes.

Check out upcoming arrivals of US Fracked Gas from Sabine Pass and Cove Point at the Vessel Finder Site HERE …

Ironically in May 2018 China had offered to close the US trade gap with a huge increase in LNG imports. Now various reports suggest that Chinese imports of both oil and gas from the US neared zero in Sept 2018. Asia was the best market with higher prices. If the dispute continues Europe may receive even heavier pressure to import US Fracked gas.

As wide public solidarity has delayed and harassed the Fracking industry in the UK the Tory regime has bowed to US ‘Brexit blackmail’ and forced companies to accept more expensive US Fracked Gas. – “US forces EU into buying LNG – YouTube  “

Exposing Patriarchy: The Herd of the Male Murderer

La Manada del Asesino ..
Exposing Violent Patriarchy in Spain

Here we translate one of many posts confronting ingrained patriarchy/  in Spanish society,  published since the first ever hugely successful Women’s Work and Home General Strike in the Spanish State on 8th March 2018, and also relating to the outrage at the release of a group of gang rapists.. the ‘Manada’, and the various waves of feminist social revolution now sweeping the world.

The Herd of the Male Murderer

‘In the law courts men are not usually framed in the profile of the abuser .. while women are often presumed to be liars. Women report abuse and lawsuits are filed, but without being investigated. The presumption of innocence is distorted and the legal guarantee is transformed into defenselessness.

Women have recently been conquering levels of equality and freedom (in Spain), but many men are watching us, skulking,  full of resentment, and eager to put us back in the place they think is ours’.

So affirms Amelia Valcárcel: ‘ this contained anger usually exerts itself  through subtle forms of violence, such as verbal, in the media, in relationships with us or when they are away from women in their professional, leisure or social environment’.

‘No More Patriarchal Violence’ .. ‘Abusing one of us they abuse us all’ .. ‘We cry out against our forced destiny’..

Although repressed, the patriarchal law is a hidden code that permeates every pore of our society. The threat of unleashed anger and exemplary punishment is always present.

When one of the members of the ‘herd’ commits a heinous crime the other members of the fraternity come out like vermin in their defense by invoking patriarchal norms.

In Castellón, Spain, a man killed  his two daughters of 4 and 6 years old with a knife to take revenge on his ex-wife. The woman had asked for protection from the Law, but justice did not trust her.

She had requested protective measures in court, but the judge considered that the risk was low and dismissed the measures, noting that both parents were involved in a custody suit and that there were contradictions between the testimony of the man and the woman. .

Today her daughters are dead, the cries of horror of the mother were heard throughout the neighborhood. Continue reading “Exposing Patriarchy: The Herd of the Male Murderer”

Barcelona: Riot as Police Evict Occupied Center for Luxury Flats

from La Directa  At 7 am, the eviction of the  Ca la Trava occupied center in the Gràcia neighborhood of Barcelona began. Early on, a helicopter was flying over the area and the Mossos Police deployed ten vans of the anti-riot unit.

One of the vehicles was equipped with stairs to access the building and a panoramic camera. The squatter launched warning rockets to convene a solidarity concentration on the crossing of Gràcia with Torrent de l’Olla street, and resisted in the building.

According to Ca la Trava, two people have been detained, information that has been confirmed by the police. From the Catalan police statement, they claimed that when they had access to the building there were nine people inside, two have only been identified and have left voluntarily. Four of the remainder were seized, two were charged for Resistance against The Authority and the other two were administratively sanctioned by the so-called gag law, the citizen security law 4/2015.

Brazil In Danger: Three ‘Time Bombs’

Brazil faces Militarized Fascism: 3 ‘time bombs’ promote Far Right Coup

By Boaventura de Sousa Santos

October 15, 2018 “Information Clearing House“ –  Brazilian democracy is on the brink of the abyss. The institutional coup that was set in motion with President Dilma Rousseff’s impeachment and led to the unjust imprisonment of former President Lula da Silva is all but complete.

The consummation of the coup has acquired a meaning that is quite different from what was initially intended by many of the political and social forces that promoted it or just would not disagree with it. Some of these forces either acted or reacted in the honest belief that the coup was aimed at regenerating Brazilian democracy by fighting corruption, while others saw it was a way of neutralizing the elevation of the popular classes to a standard of living that sooner or later was to be a threat not only to the elites but also to the middle classes (among whom there were many who were the product of the redistributive policies against which they were now turning). An activist walks into a bank… Climate Actions Across Europe

Together with groups and partners, including #GasdownFrackdown, we called for action targeting banks for their role in financing fossil fuels. Here are some of the highlights:

  • In France, over 40 actions targeted Société Générale. People demanded that the bank “stops boiling the planet”. Société Générale finances the Rio Grande LNG pipeline, which would bring fracked gas from the US to Europe.
  • Geneva in Switzerland hosted a 7,000 people strong climate march. It’s most likely the biggest climate march ever in Switzerland. We were there and you can read our impressions here.
  • Protesters delivered the IPCC report to the Swiss National Bank and Credit Suisse. The report acts as a reminder that we need bold climate action to keep global warming below 1.5°C. Both banks fund projects like the Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipeline.

  • Barclays was the target in Oxford, UK, where Oxford residents protested the bank’s involvement in fracking.

  • The European Investment Bank got a surprise visit by climate justice activists in Lisbon, Portugal. They carried a symbolic pipeline through the city, in protest of a 160 km long gas pipeline, financially supported by the European Commission. In Belgium, action was held at the European Parliament in Brussels.

  • An Italian customer of Intesa Sanpaolo had enough and closed his account. He protests over the bank’s investment into the Dakota Access and Trans Adriatic pipelines.
