FairCoin is rising! linking integral Coops and Local Currencies

After almost 2 years, where all users of FairCoin, have been accustomed to an exchange rate of 0,05€ (20 Faircoin = 1 €), FairCoop’ assembly has decided to raise that to 0,0667 € (so now 15 Faircoin = 1 €).

This has been a consensus reached through an open, participatory process of discussion. Not the invisible hands of the market, neither the authoritarian control of a central bank. FairCoin has achieved for the first time the milestone of an open assembly process deciding its exchange rate. We are very happy about this achievement, which shows that there is a different way to self-organize the value of a currency.

So, everybody needs to take the new exchange rate into account when making transactions, using FairCoin, from now on. As you may easily understand, this shift will benefit the entire FairCoop ecosystem and reward all of us who support and cooperate towards a fair economic system.

However, most importantly, it greatly enhances our common reserve funds to support subversive and radical projects, as well as to expand the structures of the FairCoop ecosystem itself. Despite stark warnings from scientists, fossil fuel subsidies continue to grow: this year alone, it is estimated that dirty coal and energy corporations will receive a staggering $5.3 trillion from governments worldwide.

The worst predicted impacts of climate change are starting to happen — and much faster than climate scientists expected..The Sixth Mass Extinction Is Upon Us: Can Humans Survive?

To put this into perspective, the sum is more than the healthcare budget of all the countries in the world combined. It works out at $600 million per hour, $10 million per minute, and $200,000 per second. Just imagine what we could do with that kind of money.

We could eradicate poverty, invest in clean energy, boost health and education systems, start a food revolution, and create more jobs in these industries as a result. Eco-anarchist Marius Mason is Being Moved out of Secure Admin Unit

We are excited to announce that Marius received confirmation yesterday that he will be moving to general population at Carswell. As many know, this has been a long time coming and a request that Marius, his attorney, his family, and supporters have made repeatedly for him to be moved from the Admin Unit.

In general population Marius will be able to truly go outside for the first time in seven years, without the barriers of razor wire and concrete. He will also be able to participate in more educational programs and groups. Carswell’s general population has a large sunny communal visiting room that Marius’ family and friends will be able to see him in, rather than the small enclosed space with its own security detail.
