Today April 23 is the 7th anniversary that went far from home, resisting a “national” order of detention for the action of denunciation and expropriation of the unjust and stingy banking system, which I made public in 2008, and for which still calls for 8 years in prison, although the banks reported to the state coffers 120000 times more than what I had to do to them and no prosecutor’s office has asked for criminal charges for that. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have earned a deserved reputation as a murky world of bubbles, wasteful energy consumption, pump and dump schemes, and volatile price rises and drops.

Yet the possibility that a cryptocurrency could offer opportunities to create radical alternative finance outside of capitalism and central banks has gained real credence. FairCoin was created in 2014 as an eco-friendly, post-capitalist cryptocurrency, its ideals and principles emerged largely from the Catalan Integral Cooperative (CIC) in Spain, which is a radically autonomous network of cooperatives and social movements based in Catalonia that uses the social currency, Ecos. Enric Duran, 5 years as an underground Activist! .. From Robbing Hood to Faircoin

Enric Duran Giralt (born 23 April 1976, in Vilanova i la Geltrú) also known as Robin Banks or the Robin Hood of the Banks is a Catalan anticapitalist activist[1] and a founding member of the Catalan Integral Cooperative (CIC – Cooperativa Integral Catalana) and Faircoop.[2][3][4][5][6]On September 17, 2008, he publicly announced that he had ‘robbed’ dozens of Spanish banks of nearly half a million euros as part of a political action to denounce what he termed the predatory capitalist system.

From 2006 to 2008, Duran took out 68 commercial and personal loans from a total of 39 banks with no guarantees or property as collateral. He had no intention of repaying the debts, and used the money to finance various anti-capitalist movements.[7]In 2008, Duran released both an online article entitled “I have “robbed” 492,000 euros from those who rob us the most, in order to denounce them and build alternatives for society” (translated), and an online video, each explaining what he had done and that he had left the country to view the reaction and consider his next move.

This was also published in the free magazine Crisis, in Catalan, of which 200,000 copies were printed and distributed by volunteers throughout Catalonia. A second newspaper, We can! Live Without Capitalism was distributed on March 17, 2009, and a third, We want! on September 17, 2009.[8][9]

Today, five years ago, Enric made it clear that he did not accept the authority of the “justice” of the System and when it was required by him, his response was not to appear at the Provincial Court of Barcelona. On February 12, 2013, many companies were attentive to the reaction of the corrupt states of the state, the bank, and the judiciary and police. FairCoin is rising! linking integral Coops and Local Currencies

After almost 2 years, where all users of FairCoin, have been accustomed to an exchange rate of 0,05€ (20 Faircoin = 1 €), FairCoop’ assembly has decided to raise that to 0,0667 € (so now 15 Faircoin = 1 €).

This has been a consensus reached through an open, participatory process of discussion. Not the invisible hands of the market, neither the authoritarian control of a central bank. FairCoin has achieved for the first time the milestone of an open assembly process deciding its exchange rate. We are very happy about this achievement, which shows that there is a different way to self-organize the value of a currency.

So, everybody needs to take the new exchange rate into account when making transactions, using FairCoin, from now on. As you may easily understand, this shift will benefit the entire FairCoop ecosystem and reward all of us who support and cooperate towards a fair economic system.

 If we accept that our predator capitalism is  rushing into financial and environmental disaster we need an equally vigorous and attractive alternative that people can turn to as things get worse.destroy the banksOne possibility is local ‘stamp-scrip’ (freemoney), which gradually loses its value if not spent, so people spend it immediately and the local economy booms. There’s no use hoarding capital in this scheme.
