Enric Duran, 5 years as an underground Activist! .. From Robbing Hood to Faircoin

Enric Duran Giralt (born 23 April 1976, in Vilanova i la Geltrú) also known as Robin Banks or the Robin Hood of the Banks is a Catalan anticapitalist activist[1] and a founding member of the Catalan Integral Cooperative (CIC – Cooperativa Integral Catalana) and Faircoop.[2][3][4][5][6]On September 17, 2008, he publicly announced that he had ‘robbed’ dozens of Spanish banks of nearly half a million euros as part of a political action to denounce what he termed the predatory capitalist system.

From 2006 to 2008, Duran took out 68 commercial and personal loans from a total of 39 banks with no guarantees or property as collateral. He had no intention of repaying the debts, and used the money to finance various anti-capitalist movements.[7]In 2008, Duran released both an online article entitled “I have “robbed” 492,000 euros from those who rob us the most, in order to denounce them and build alternatives for society” (translated), and an online video, each explaining what he had done and that he had left the country to view the reaction and consider his next move.

This was also published in the free magazine Crisis, in Catalan, of which 200,000 copies were printed and distributed by volunteers throughout Catalonia. A second newspaper, We can! Live Without Capitalism was distributed on March 17, 2009, and a third, We want! on September 17, 2009.[8][9]

Today, five years ago, Enric made it clear that he did not accept the authority of the “justice” of the System and when it was required by him, his response was not to appear at the Provincial Court of Barcelona. On February 12, 2013, many companies were attentive to the reaction of the corrupt states of the state, the bank, and the judiciary and police. ‘Robin Hood’ fugitive to Kick-start Post Capitalism?

Last week saw two major  internet stories from ‘Robin Hood’ (aka, Enric Duran) and his plans to short circuit Capitalism.
fair coop‘Robin’ is a Catalan activist who took out bank loans of 500,000 euros and gave the cash to occupiers, anarchists and Coops. Then he helped found the fast growing CIC (Integral Coop), a group of leaderless assembly-run, coops with their own ‘anti-money’, the ECU, which aims to evade the inbuilt exploitative control of the world money system.

The Fair Coop. The Earth cooperative for a fair economy

Activists from various fields of alternative economy like Enric Duran (Robin of the Banks), Cooperativa Integral Catalana, Michael Bauwens, P2P Foundation, or Amir Taaki, , bitcoin developer, launched this September 17, after months of networking, a draft global economic system based on cooperation, ethics, solidarity, redistribution north-south, and justice in economic relations.

The Fair Coop is a global cooperative attempt to become independent of the “old economic system” based on central banks and fiat currencies by a new currency reference, faircoin, to promote the global commons and decentralized economies. .

Fair Coop
The date, 17S coincides symbolically with six years of the campaign “We can live without capitalism,” and five years since the campaign with more than a hundred data points in the Spanish state to create alternative economy networks by inviting people to abandon their bank accounts. It is also a step in the “Comprehensive Revolution”,which in the words of Duran, “aims to give visibility to a self-organized movement that is working to build  other possible worlds
from below.” Continue reading “#faircoop.. Occupying free economy with Anti-money.. #faircoin”

Integral Revolution Coop takes off in Barcelona

translation  by The Free. From free paper ’20 Minutes’  and reprinted in ‘Rojo y Negro’ of the CGT union.

At least 1,200 Catalans manage themselves with their own ”money”, education and health , they do not use the euro but  ecos, a “free money” that can be exchanged for hours of work or products..cooperativa integral

They have organized a network of health care, education and access to housing, based on trust among  members.
They are expanding to the rest of the peninsula. in France and Italy similar experiences have been initiated.
They have a currency of its own, a self-managed health care system, an educational network and housing office. They are self-managed cooperatives and self-organization, groups of people living outside the system,  and make decisions in open assemblies based on trust organization. In Catalonia, there are already 1,200 citizens who have chosen this way of life and the implementation of these communities is spreading. The crisis and the 15M indignados movement has given it wings. Continue reading “Integral Revolution Coop takes off in Barcelona”

Integral CoOps,15M and Occupy.. an embryo for Post Capitalism?

en español aquí: La Cooperativa Integral y el Caído del Capitalismo

In southern Europe it looks like Capitalism is collapsing. . Everywhere businesses are closing down and stolen money moved to tax havens. We have an opportunity right now to start new systems, truly sustainable and without hierarchy, without interest, without rich or poor ..  on the way to a money-free world! Below we report on the  Integral CoOps, which use new technology to link consumption, production, Community Currencies and Time Banks.

NO to  Reaction  YES to revolution ..

All the old activists covered their eyes in despair, when tens of thousands of youths from the 15M movement raised their hands in the air and yelled for nonviolence, while being brutally beaten up by the police mercenaries last year. What a shocking lack of solidarity and militancy!

Yet it is also true that direct confrontation with State forces makes us into a mirror image of them. All the dialectical struggle of macho Marxists only led its leaders to the corruption of power, in the totalitarianism  of  State Communism, or nowadays in leftist parties and sold out unions .

The 15M Movement and Occupy on the other hand are based on the assembly, self organized horizontally, without leaders or parties, without hierarchy, and without accepted sexism,  like an internet chat, or in the tradition of the Iberian Anarchists.
