Nikos Romanos has triumphed. After 31 days of hunger strike and thirst strike beginning today the Greek government has yielded to his demands and has agreed to allow leave to study, as Nikos claimed and to which he was legally entitled.With this agreement consisting of about 6 months distance learning from prison first, then exit permits on electronic tracking device to study later, Nikos Romanos abandoned today the hunger strike and thirst having not only jeopardized the Greek state, but having overcome with a historic hunger strike.
Few is any similar examples can be found of the solidarity movement that has risen with this hunger strike. |
On Nov 6th Amélie Trudeau Pelletier, Fallon Poisson Rouiller and Carlos López Marín were sentenced to 2 years, 7 months and 15 days in prison, and ordered to pay damages of 108,000 pesos, on charges of attacks to public peace and aggravated damages.

Alicante prisoners have been refusing provisonal freedom, saying it’s impossible to survive out of jail in the absence of work
Inmates do not want to get out of jail. This is what is happening in Alicante, where several prison inmates of the overcrowded and disgusting Fontcalent prison have refused entitlement to leave during the day due to the lack of work and resources to survive, according to the local newspaper Information. In summer 2013 members of several ABC groups discussed the necessity of introducing an International Day for Anarchist Prisoners. Given there are already established dates for Political Prisoners Rights Day or Prison Justice Day, we found it important to emphasise the stories of our comrades as well. Many imprisoned anarchists will never be acknowledged as ‘political prisoners’ by formal human-rights organisations, because their sense of social justice is strictly limited to the capitalist laws which are designed to defend the State and prevent any real social change….
