The gratiferia (free fair) concept originally comes from Argentina and then expanded to neighboring countries and all of Latin America. The idea was quickly taken up in the U.S. and Canada, and this year, it has arrived in the Old World. Sales and swaps are completely forbidden at gratiferias. Everything must be in good condition, and of course, a bit of civic sense is required. Do not show up with a van and load up everything in sight. This free fair aims at “liberation from materialism,” with the goal of leaving behind “the oppression of the economic system.”
Ariel Rodriguez Bosio, the brains behind the gratiferia, has posted a YouTube video entitled “gratiferia, una economia de la nueva era” (“gratiferia, an economy for the new age”). In the video, where he appears as a sort of philosophical/spiritual guru of the no-growth movement, the Argentinian explains that he started the first market of its kind in his apartment at the beginning of 2010.

The collective behind the global protest that will occur on November 5th in over 150 countries launched a YouTube video today to raise awareness of the march. It’s inspiring but seems to me aimed at a US following (all those US flags! ugh)
An organizer of the Washington, D.C. event explained that, as with many things within Anonymous, the event has taken on a life of its own.

The spokesman of Judges for Democracy published in his Facebook profile a Decalogue to end the ‘ shame ‘ that killed more than 100,000 people who remain in mass graves.
Joaquim Bosch , spokesman for the progressive Association of Judges for Democracy , wanted to explain in a simple way and through a Decalogue their stance on the situation of the families of the victims of Francoism and the “shameful ” Spanish Government action to not favor or even allow the recovery of their remains . leaders remain wedded to economic metrics that say little about the well-being of humans and the environment.
Last month the Associated Press reported that the income gap in the United States broke a new record in 2012, with the 1 percent grabbing a greater share of total household wealth than ever before in history.
This news follows on the heels of the fact that the 1 percent not only captured all of the income gains during the first two years of the economic recovery, but also stole a portion of the already-existing incomes of the bottom 99 percent, causing median household income to decline despite overall economic growth.
