Don’t expect to see a bullfight when you trip to Barcelona, the last stadium is closed and the ”sport” banned. In fact for years it was mainly kept going by the tourist industry.
The popular bumper sticker in Madrid is the bull, representing, for the Catalans, cruel bullying disguised as ‘heroic’ sexist posturing.
Barcelona cars on the other hand feature the Catalan donkey, symbolizing just a nice but stubborn animal, and maybe the ability to laugh at themselves.
In San Sebastian of the Kings, (real name Donostia in Basque) the battle against bullfighting is in full swing. Alicante prisoners have been refusing provisonal freedom, saying it’s impossible to survive out of jail in the absence of work
Inmates do not want to get out of jail. This is what is happening in Alicante, where several prison inmates of the overcrowded and disgusting Fontcalent prison have refused entitlement to leave during the day due to the lack of work and resources to survive, according to the local newspaper Information. Given there are already established dates for Political Prisoners Rights Day or Prison Justice Day, we found it important to emphasise the stories of our comrades as well. Many imprisoned anarchists will never be acknowledged as ‘political prisoners’ by formal human-rights organisations, because their sense of social justice is strictly limited to the capitalist laws which are designed to defend the State and prevent any real social change….

The political activist and Anonymous hacker has big plans after his release from prison, scheduled for 2020

MANCHESTER, Ky. – Dozens of websites – many belonging to law enforcement organizations – escaped planned destruction and defacement when the FBI arrested high-profile hacker Jeremy Hammond in 2012.
“I was at the peak of my work,” Hammond told America Tonight from a medium-security, federal prison facility in Kentucky. “It’s a shame I got caught when I did.”
The political activist and computer whiz said he had already breached dozens of vulnerable websites and was “halfway finished” with preparations for a full-fledged cyberattack when federal authorities disrupted his plans. He said he was going to launch new online attacks every week. Most of his targets never even knew they were his would-be victims.
