THE ACORN – 34.. Manchester.. Fascism.. CIA.. Assange.. Mining

Posted on May 25, 2017

1. Manchester: an explosion of hate and fear

The vile bomb attack in Manchester on May 22 has left a noxious smell of racism and fascism in the British political atmosphere in the election run-up.

Prime Minister Theresa May was very quick to ramp up the terror alert status to “critical” and send the army onto the streets in a bid to show just how strong and stable she is.

The gesture has a hint of coup d’état about it. Even pro-establishment Guardian journo Jonathan Freedland had to admit that troops  being deployed in the middle of a general election campaign was “new and unsettling terrain for British democracy”. Rojava-inspired Women’s Councils Spread across Europe

RAHILA GUPTA  shared with thanks           Could this little-known system provide a way forward for real democracy – from the bottom up – in our failing neoliberal political systems?

Every time I speak at public meetings in Britain about the gender equality and direct democracy experiment being carried out in Rojava, Northern Syria, I am invariably asked by an inspired audience what we can learn from there – and how can we implement it here.Yekîneyên Jinên in Azad Star (Star-YJA) has communicated the death of the commanders of their militia Nalin Dipo and Helin Murat, from the Free Womens Unit -Ishtar  killed by Turkish bombing of Kurdistan in Iraq between 26 and 28 April 2017

Given the growing consensus in the west about the importance of equal pay and equal representation of the sexes at all levels of employment, one of the basic tenets of the Rojava revolution, co-presidentship – where every institution is headed up by a man and a woman – should not be too much of a hard sell.

Rojava Revolution Plan: Organising and Funding Projects and Volunteers

Yet even co-presidentship cannot be easily replicated within a system like ours which, driven by profit rather that values, might simply discard the idea as untenable on the grounds of cost and over-staffing. After all, the state is being rolled back everywhere; NGOs are scrabbling for cash; and jobshares are simply not the same thing. The prosecution requested five years in prison for a campaign of boycott El Corte Ingles

https://directa.cat/actual….
translated mostly from post below by Jesus Rodriquez, with thanks.

The prosecution requested five years prison each for a boycott campaign of  the dept. store chain El Corte Inglés, which are upmarket stores histrorically controlled by far right anti-union commercial interests.

The three militants of the CNT Barcelona are accused of crimes of obstruction of justice and coercion in a boycott campaign started in the fall of 2015, which was in solidarity against the trial of two anarchists for picketing incidents at one of the stores back in the general strike of 29 March 2012.

The boycott was a success and the original 3 picketers were cleared, but then 24 people were accused of the Boycott, now reduced to only three, but demanding long sentences.   Continue reading “The prosecution requested five years in prison for a campaign of boycott El Corte Ingles”

30,000 Massacred by Tory cuts in Health and Social Care

Elected by a minority the UK Tory party revel in robbing, squeezing and in this case killing the population to benefit the established ruling class. The UK is a toxic blend of institutions, parties, schools, law, work, prisons, property, police, family,  etc. which mould our minds and have always blocked all chance of revolution.. ……but OUR TIME WILL COME

http://www.ox.ac.uk/      Researchers (published by the Royal Society of Medicine) exploring why there has been a substantial increase in mortality in England and Wales in 2015 conclude that failures in the health and social care system linked to disinvestment are likely to be the main cause.

There were 30,000 excess deaths in 2015, representing the largest increase in deaths in the post-war period. The excess deaths, which included a large spike in January that year, were largely in the older population who are most dependent on health and social care.
