Honouring Chavez: Let’s make a Real horizontal Revolution!

resize_imageHugo Chavez has shown that resistance to US control is possible and popular.
But his regime was centralised and corrupt, and already the Capitalist vuiltures are
gathering to foment chaos and try to grab back power.
Now is the time for all local organisations to rise up and create leader-less democracy from
the base, to honour Hugo’s memory, despite his faults,  and make the revolution real and strong.

On the death of Chavez | El Libertario

Neither mourning nor celebrating: time for social struggles to become autonomous! When an illness becomes serious, when medical attention becomes a vehicle for myopic, politically motivated decisions and when a patient becomes drunk with power, it can only end this way. The strongman has died, and in so doing, he has initiated a substantial shift in the Venezuelan political landscape.

What used to be the regime’s greatest strength has suddenly turned into its defining weakness: it was all Chávez, and, without him, the only solution is to fabricate an absolute commitment to his memory and his plans for succession. The government’s true fragility can now be seen, a government which tried to demonstrate its “popular, socialist” character via a grotesque personality cult, a practice that has now been reduced to the empty invocation of spirits.

The deceased himself is to blame for this outcome as the secrecy around his illness was propelled by the same motivations as the extreme centralisation of power around him, while the lack of ideological coherence amongst his followers has left them scrapping for crumbs. The high-level “rojo-rojito” [chavista red] bureaucrats and the upper echelons of the military are best placed to benefit, as they negotiate impunity for their various misdemeanours and corruptions.YO SOY CHAVEZ

For the right-wing and social democratic opposition, the new situation finds them unable to overcome their losses of the presidential elections of October 7 and the regionals of December 16, offering a “yuppy populism” which promises voters that they will maintain and fine-tune the clientelist tools of governmental power which were so useful to Chavez.

This accommodation assumes the belief that a fortuitous metastasis has brought them within reach of the power that their greed, mistakes, laziness and incompetence had kept them away from, power they will wield with similar stupidity and greed as the Chavista bolibourgeoisie.10soychaj-998

The backdrop to this load of petty opportunism – from both the Gran Polo Patriótico [the Chavista coalition] and the Mesa de Unidad Democrática [the opposition coalition] – is Venezuela, a country that faces its own problems: out of control inflation, rising unemployment and precarious jobs, the devaluation of the currency, shocking personal insecurity, crises in electricity and water provision, education and health systems in decline, a housing shortage, obsolete – or incomplete – public works, a demagogic approach which pays attention to only the most extreme scarcities experienced by the most desperate people… a whole host of other problems which are equally disastrous.

These issues are not the central concern of the two gangs in competition for Miraflores [the President palace/seat] and the oil booty. Our collective response must be to not relent to their blackmail: support at the ballot box in exchange for ‘solutions’ that either never materialise or are ludicrouslcancery inadequate.

Now is the time to overpower the rotten powers that be and build – from below – a real democracy of equality, social justice and freedom. We must unleash the generalised anger caused by our suffering, and convert it into autonomous social struggles, self-managed and extensive. We must spell out for the politicians in power that we don’t need them, neither as intermediaries nor as gracious givers of what we ourselves can construct – united and from the base – without any need for “clean hands” or “red berets”.

Sack The King: Disabled Kids Fund looted by Royals

King Joan Carlos, sacked as president of WWF for hiunting elephants, may soon be sacked as King for blatant family Corruption
King Juan Carlos, sacked as president of WWF for hunting elephants, may soon be sacked as King for blatant family Corruption

Pressure is mounting as various protest groups and political parties add to the calls for the abdication of the Spanish King, and the creation of a Republic with a new Constitution.

The latest scandal is that Urdangarin, son in law and protegée of the King and now on trial for massive corruption, also plundered a foundation for disabled children.

Urdangarin and Torres totally looted the foundation for disabled children they  had been put in charge of by Royal patronage.
Only 9,800 of more than 620,000 euros in donations earmarked for social purposes were received by public and businesses, the rest was pocketed by the Duke and his partners. Continue reading “Sack The King: Disabled Kids Fund looted by Royals”

Getting to the root of the problem in Madagascar

February 26th, 2013   by Daniel Reeds

When Daniel Reeds visited Madagascar he was struck by the beauty of its ecosystems and people, but also by the appalling poverty. However, he found inspiration from a pioneering charity that works with humans and wildlife, to ensure a sustainable future for both.

Madagascar is one of the world’s top biodiversity hotspots, with approximately 4% of the Earth’s plant and animal species living there – within just 0.4% of the planet’s surface. Many species have yet to be named or even discovered. However, it is also one of the most impoverished and least developed countries in the world, ranking 151st out of 187 in the UNDP 2011 Human Development Index.

Additionally, it’s one of the top three countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change through factors including unsustainable agricultural practices. Continue reading “Making Magical Moringa sprout in Madagascar”

13 ‘Bucaneers’ radical fans arrested: Daily Demos

2ad2fa2666fba23f75a3956b802b08b1_LFreedom Bukaneros

the Buckaneers are the fans of Ray Vallecano F.C. traditionally progressive and active in the Free Alfon Campaign and the escalating resistance to the financial Coup d’Etat in Spain

Eleven Bukaneros mates and two of the Rock rayista ADRV have been arrested by the repressive state apparatus in their homes and even their places of work, between the evening of the 25th and the morning of the 26th in the resisting neighborhood of Vallekas.

It seems that they are accused of belonging to a “criminal gang”, coercion, threats … We know what they are guilty of: being young, being working class, and growing up in a neighborhood with a tradition of exemplary struggle. They are guilty of suffering the impact of this structural crisis of capitalism, which is being used to wipe out all social and labor rights for the powerful to maintain their privileges.

They are only guilty of resisting.

7GCo6Fh55EwNo wonder that these arrests happen right after the mobilization of 23-F against cuts and privatization, during which the state security forces arrested 45 people, most of them very young. As shown by the smear campaign orchestrated by criminalization and media misinformation against Bukaneros collective, the one great enemy of the state and the system is the revolutionary left. The ruling classes can tolerate the reform measures, but bear real tough on left.

Cristina Cifuentes Mintió Por Twitter: El Rayo Vallecano Niega Haber Denunciado A Los ‘Bukaneros’ ( The club management has confirmed the State lied when claiming the arrests were requested by them)

As the case of comrade Alfonso, who fell on state repression in Madrid, rare here but well known elsewhere, as in the Basque Country, the young detainees are scapegoats by which the State (increasingly used to the framings) wants to send an ominous message to all those who resist.bukaneros

To the discredit of his circus of democratic institutions and formerly “untouchables” like the monarchy, and the increasingly rotten ruling class, the state responds with repressive escalation aimed to eliminate any dissenting voices who want to create a better world and aware that this is only possible by destroying the capitalist socioeconomic system.

The working class pays the consequences of the crisis, but it is not to blame for this. The culprits are the powerful, the system that exploiters and oppressers of the State.

Repression is booming, but so is solidarity. Despite this, solidarity always drawn as a line between those who are allowed to be poisoned by propaganda of the capitalist system and those that, differences aside, fighting side by side in the same roadblock.

We demands the immediate release without charge of all the arrested comrades.

Their only crime: RESISTING.

So resist with them.

THE STRUGGLE OF THE WORKING CLASS

Bukaneros Libertad
