The Irish Times said the vice president’s views on Brexit, immigration and gay rights “are anathema to a majority of people in modern Ireland” and “impossible to ignore”.
It summed up the state visit with the headline: “That didn’t go very well.”

In the last weeks the rate of refugees arriving in Greece has been shooting up, as Erdogan cynically allowed more people to escape, before cashing in on EU euros and political ignoring, if not actually aiding, his nazi invasion plans.
So the craven EU politicians cave in and give him (indirectly) billions more public money for fear of losing their jobs and power to the racist right wing being fanned…
As well as receiving 6 billion euros to its economy (the cash goes directly to the refugees) there have been a long series of scandals alleging the slave labour exploitation in Turkey of defenseless Syrian refugee families who despite working could starve without the EU aid. This gives the Turkish business class a third big boost in cheaper production , increasing profits for the rich while forcing down wages for many other workers with the threat of cheaper refugee labour. Labour is cheap, refugee labour is dirt cheap in Turkey
So Turkey is getting paid three times over for its mere 5% of refugees, while squeezing more money, support and impunity for its empire building from its EU neighbours with blatant human blackmail . Hace siete años comenzó en Rojava, en el norte de Siria, una revolución que iba a cambiar radicalmente la vida de millones de personas. Después de liberarse de la dictadura del régimen de Assad, la población kurda comenzó a organizarse en consejos, comunas y cooperativas autogestionadas, mientras que la organización autónoma de mujeres se convirtió en la fuerza motriz de la revolución social.
Se desarrolló un proyecto multiétnico y multirreligioso, que hoy conocido como la Administración Autónoma del Norte y Este de Siria garantiza la coexistencia pacífica de millones de kurdos, árabes, asirios y otros pueblos.
Desde sus inicios este proyecto, único no sólo en el Oriente Medio sino a nivel mundial, ha sido una amenaza para el status quo de las potencias regionales y globales, como también una espina en el ojo de los yihadistas.
Durante todos estos años las combatientes voluntarias de las YPJ/YPG/FDS mediante el sacrificio de miles de mártires y apoyadas por la valiente resistencia de la población, consiguieron derrotar a los yihadistas de al-Nusra, al-Qaida y luego de Daesh y liberar el territorio.

Given the daily police violence that has intensified since the beginning of the occupation of the rebel and solidarity neighbourhood of Athens:
“We will soon have deaths in Exarchia”
This sentence is repeated by many this morning, in a corner of the neighborhood where we have lunch with a few inhabitants, taking stock of the situation. An old anarchist companion is convinced that we are going to relive 1985 or 2008. In those years, a young activist was murdered by a policeman, and with each act of violence provoking very important riots. In December 2008, power shook. More than 300 banks and luxury stores burned. Parliament was besieged.
Today, the atmosphere is not the same in society, but weariness is at its height. Something is smoldering. Like a pain in the belly.

#ULMWP .. The last 2 weeks has seen the largest mass demonstrations across West Papua in nearly 20 years and as they risk their lives to raise their national flag and call for a referendum.
The West Papuan people are sending a very clear message to the Indonesian government; enough is enough.
The inspiring West Papua Uprising began on August 18th, calling for justice after West Papuan students in Surabaya were racially abused, called “monkeys” and tortured by Indonesian forces.
Since then, it has become a huge movement with protests everywhere across the country, demanding that West Papua’s fundamental right to self-determination be respected through a referendum as the only solution for peace in West Papua.

Hundreds of activists concentrated at the doors of the Ungovernable to avoid the eviction of the Social Center by the “little trifachito”(Council) headed by Almeida.
Due to the massive presence of people who concentrated so early in support of the Ungovernable, the judicial delegation informed us that the eviction could not be carried out.
A first win for the social movements of Madrid.

The eviction of the CSO was planned, in principle, for September 2nd, but later it was known that August 28th would be the date chosen by the City Council to try to close the Social Center. Therefore, the Assembly of the Ungovernable summoned all the social movements of the city to accompany them since last night.
At 00 hours on Wednesday, hundreds of people were already occupying the esplanade in front of the building, in anticipation of a vigil to maintain alertness. At 8:00 am more people began arriving for the #NoNosVamosDesayunamos ( We Wont GoWe Breakfast) call and the day was taking color with the song of “Whoever’s in Government the Ingo defends itself”. In a statement published on August 17th, Subcomandante Moises, on behalf of the General Command of the Indigenous Revolutionary Clandestine Committee (CG-CCRI in its Spanish acronym) of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN in its Spanish acronym), announced that, in accordance with what was stated by the National Indigenous Congress (CNI in its Spanish acronym), of “going on the offensive and extending the word and action of resistance and rebellion”, the EZLN decided to “break the fence” forming new Caracoles (autonomous regions that will now be 12) and more autonomous Zapatista rebel municipalities in new areas of southeastern Mexico. He also reported on the creation of Centers of Autonomous Resistance and Zapatista Rebellion (CRAREZ in its Spanish acronym), which in most cases “will also be the headquarters of Caracoles, Good Government Councils and Zapatista Rebel Autonomous Municipalities (MAREZ in its Spanish acronym)”.
