Occupy ICE is a movement spreading across the USA to protest and oppose the Trump administration’s ongoing attacks on refugees and immigrants, resulting in mass incarcerations of adults and children, with the children often separated, most likely permanently, from their parents. As with the Occupy movement, there are sometimes heated disagreements over tactics, as this piece from CrimethInc. illustrates.

I spent time at both the blockade in Portland, Oregon and the Northwest Detention Center Occupation in Tacoma, Washington. I think it is so inspiring and exciting that these occupations and blockades are happening all over the country. I wish they were happening in every city, at every ICE facility.

In this interview about his latest book, David Graeber discusses the role of unions, the challenges posed by automation and “the revolt of the caring classes.

If your answer to these questions is “yes,” then take solace. You are not alone. As much as half the work that the working population engages in every day could be considered pointless, says David Graeber, Professor of Anthropology at the London School of Economics and author of Bullshit Jobs: A Theory.

According to Graeber, the same free market policies that have made life and work more difficult for so many working people over the past few decades have simultaneously produced more highly paid managers, telemarketers, insurance company bureaucrats, lawyers and lobbyists who do nothing useful all day. Rebels incarcerated in prisons across the US declare a nationwide strike in response to the riot in Lee Correctional Institution, a maximum security prison in South Carolina. Seven comrades lost their lives when prison officials turned their backs on a riot they provoked. We are demanding humane living conditions, access to rehabilitation, sentencing reform and the end of modern day slavery.

Maravillas Occupied Center in Pamplona Evicted in Night Battle

After a week with the presence of the provincial police, of secrets, of helicopters flying over the Casco Viejo and crossing statements of the different parties of government and opposition, Maravillas Gaztetxea was attacked last night without warning by hundreds of  heavily armed police.Image result for Maravillas Gaztetxea

Neighbours and occupiers were holding a round the clock guard and the alarm was quickly raised

The police deployed a giant crane to lift riot police onto the roof and balconies.

Word quickly spread around the cities and hundreds of neighbours and supporters attempted to block the narrow streets.

Pamplona/Irun has been without an occupied center for years due to the rightwing government and the eviction was highly political and promoted by the rightwing.

Violent police charges began immediately and many comrades were injured.

A support demo had already been called for 25th August and today 17th August demos are continuing.

After a week with the presence of the provincial police, of secrets, of helicopters flying over the Casco Viejo and crossing statements of the different parties of government and opposition, Maravillas Gaztetxea has announced that it returns to the normality of the neighborhood, opening its doors and resuming its activities.

YPG Kills 10 of Turkey’s Terrorist Invaders In Afrin City Center

The People’s Protection Units (YPG) on Wednesday said they killed 10 and injured another 20 in an attack on the Turkish army and the rebel al-Hamza Division group on Sunday.“Within the scope of the resistance in Afrin, our units continue to target the occupying Turkish army elements and their allied terrorist groups,” the YPG said in a statement.“On Aug. 12, our forces targeted Turkish troops and Firqat al-Hamza (Hamza Division) terrorists with two separate bombing operations on the road leading to the Tirandah neighborhood in Afrin city center,” said it added.
