Every Single Member of Congress Is Willing to Let Yemeni Children Die.

If you want to prove that statement wrong, I think you’ll want to start by proving wrong one or more of these five points:

  1. A single member of the House or Senate can compel a speedy vote on ending U.S. participation in the war on Yemen.
  2. Not one single member has done so.
  3. Ending U.S. participation would effectively end the war.
  4. Despite the temporary truce, millions of lives depend on ending the war.
  5. The passionate speeches in 2018 and 2019 by Senators and Representatives demanding an end to the war when they knew they could count on a veto from Trump have vanished during the Biden years chiefly because Party is more important than human lives.
Let’s fill these five points out a little:
  1. A single member of the House or Senate can compel a speedy vote on ending U.S. participation in the war on Yemen.

Here’s an explanation from the Friends Committee on National Legislation:

“Any member of the House or Senate, regardless of committee assignment, can invoke section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution and get a full floor vote on whether to require the president to remove U.S. armed forces from hostilities. Under the procedural rules written into the War Powers Act, these bills receive a special expedited status that requires Congress to make a full floor vote within 15 legislative days of their introduction. This provision is especially useful because it allows members of Congress to force important debates and votes on the president’s use of military force and Congressional war authority.”

Here’s a link to the actual wording of the law (as the resolution was passed in 1973), and another (as part of existing law in 2022). At the first one, see section 7. At the other one, see section 1546. Both say this: when a resolution is thus introduced, the foreign affairs committee of the relevant house gets no more than 15 days, then the full house gets no more than 3 days. In 18 days or less you get a debate and a vote.

Combined US Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) division commander general John Brennan condemned the attack as a “violation of the laws of armed conflict,” without even mentioning Turkey.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has recently renewed threats of a broad operation against the Kurds in northern Syria but is thought to have failed to secure a green light from Iran and Russia, the two other key foreign brokers in the area.

Federal data published Aug. 25 show that nonfinancial corporate profits in the U.S. surged to an all-time record of $2 trillion in the second quarter of 2022 as companies continued jacking up prices, pushing inflation to a 40-year high to the detriment of workers and consumers.

Welcome to the Great Revolt – Welcome to the Revolution!

Something powerful is in the air as we enter the autumn of 2022.

The horrendous truth about the wave of “unexplained” deaths is inevitably getting out.

The powers-that-be are blustering and fuming about unauthorised opinions and dangerous “conspiracy theories” exposing the Great Reset.

New and ever-more blatant assaults on our well-being and freedom are being launched.

And huge numbers of people are finally speaking out to say that they see what is happening and have had enough!

Take a look at just some of the comments on this enormous and moving Twitter thread, beginning from the one that sparked it all off:

“A little over two years ago I was fast asleep. I generally believed the Government, the media and the establishment. Then the lockdowns came, and something didn’t sit right with me. That led me to go down a rabbit hole of research, and the way I saw the world changed overnight”.

A general theme is their sudden shock and disgust when, for the first time in their lives, they see through the illusion of this vile spectacle of lies.

An initial sense of isolation and depression is followed by the growing realisation that they are not alone and that their numbers are growing to a point where the system’s whole long-term narrative risks crumbling.

“I had a nice life. Had earned being able to take my foot off the pedal a bit. Didn’t pay too much attention to Government. Fast forward to now… I trust no one. No institution, the Media, the Government, Scientists or Doctors. No one in a position of ‘authority’.”

“Yes, same here with me, pootling through life, lots of plans, wishing a bright future for our son as he was completing a final Uni yr, then the hit the fan. Now awake and I’ll never again see the world as I once perceived it, one conciliation many folk are slowly waking too”.

“I thought I was drowning when my eyes opened 2.5 years ago. I felt sick to the stomach. Everything changed and I changed”.

“I started seeing the world in a different light when I lost my 32 year old son from the AZ jab. I will never trust @BBC @ITV or the government again”.

“I was long comfortable with the idea that government didn’t really care about me. Discovering that government would really prefer me to die was a hard lesson”.

“Extremely bitter pill this one”.

It is hard to imagine that anyone could have dismantled the Soviet Union from the inside faster or more comprehensively than Mikhail Gorbachev, a man who had no such intention. Its crumbling is both Gorbachev’s singular achievement and his personal tragedy.

It is also the most important moment in history since 1945.

Popular perceptions have transformed the former Soviet leader into a kitschy icon, remembered as much for starring in an advert for no-crust pizza, as for picking up a Nobel Peace Prize.

But in the demise of ‘The Evil Empire’ he was no naïf, nor a catalyst for generic historic inevitabilities. Almost every single event in the countdown to the fall of communism in Russia and beyond is a direct reflection of the ideals, actions and foibles of Mikhail Gorbachev and those he confronted or endorsed.

Total nuclear meltdown .. Scotland’s Secret H Bomb Bunker – RAF Troywood 1953

After yesterday’s religious history, today we time travelled forward to the 1950’s and 60’s with a visit to Scotland’s Secret Bunker and a look back at the Cold War.

A bit of background first …….

In 1945, the American government made the decision to drop two atom bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Their calculations revealed that the loss of life through this covert attack would be significantly less than if the Allied Forces had been deployed in Japan.

At 8.15am on the 6th August, ‘Little Boy’ the name given to the deadly bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. The – Boeing B-29 bomber was named the ‘Enola Gay’ after the pilot’s mother. The heat and light caused by the bomb were far stronger than anything the world had ever seen before and an area of 4 square miles was wiped out by the force of the explosion with a further 12 square miles badly damaged.

Most of the victims died upon the impact of the nuclear bomb but many more died in the weeks, months and years that followed. Members of the next generation suffered genetic problems such as physical deformations and psychological conditions as the result of extreme exposure to radiation.

By the end of 1945, the death toll had reached 140,000 in Hiroshima. alone.

The final number of fatalities is believed to stand in excess of 200,000. The vast majority of the victims were innocent civilians men, women and children who had been unprepared for, and unsuspecting of, the attack.

RAF Troywood was built in 1953 in response to the threat of nuclear war with the USSR. It’s built 100 ft underground with the entrance hidden above in a farmhouse. This was Scotland’s Secret Underground Nuclear Command Centre.

The bunker is 24,000 sq feet. It incorporated the radar technology of the cold war era, dormitories, plotting rooms, mess and a broadcasting studio – to name a few.

A visit here is an absolute must. We spent almost three hours underground, and left feeling that in many ways what we saw is still as relevant today as it was then. An insight to the attitude of Government elite.

I was looking for a quote for the start of this post and found this one. I felt a bit uncomfortable about using it.

More than fifty people have had to be treated for bruises or fractures

A 20-month-old girl has died as a result of injuries caused by the impact of the stone that fell in the storm this Tuesday evening in the Girona regions.

The shocking storm lasted less than half an hour.

The girl was in Bisbal d’Empordà at the time of the hailstorm. She was transferred to the Josep Trueta Hospital, where she died.

A woman was also injured in the storm, who spent the night admitted to the Trueta and was discharged this morning.

In addition, more than fifty people have had to be treated for injuries of varying degrees. In the case of the Hospital de Palamós, 14 people were treated, while at the CAP of the municipality, there were 33, the majority due to bruises or even fractures.
