From CrimethInc:

The inauguration of Donald Trump is right around the corner. Disrupt J20 is publicizing a wide range of demonstrations all around the US on January 20, including a call for an anti-capitalist and anti-fascist contingent in Washington, DC.

But why focus on this particular day, of all days? And why would it be worth driving across the country to a city crowded with reactionaries and police? Here are ten reasons why we think everyone needs to pull out the stops on January 20.

J21 Women’s March: Unite & Fight Against Trump!

What is at stake here is not a single day of protest, but the paradigm of what it will mean to resist Trump. Right now, people around the US are outraged and terrified at the prospect of being governed by a megalomaniacal buffoon. This is an opportunity to expand the networks of people who are prepared to stand up to the government, but it won’t last long.

REFUGEES FORCED TO LIVE IN SNOW IN TENTS

These images were leaked out of Moria refugee camp in the island of Lesbos in Greece, exposing the dreadful and inhumane conditions that migrants are being forced to endure in order to survive in – 5°C / 23° F, sleeping in tents, on the frozen ground, under heavy snowfall. The severe weather conditions had been foreseen and expected for many days before, and yet hundreds of people that sacrificed everything to escape to “civilized” Europe have been left to their own demise.

The footage itself was captured on January 7, 2017 by an anonymous refugee, as a desperate message to the world about the appalling conditions they face. These images contradict the January 5, 2017 statement of Greek Migration Minister, Yiannis Mouzalas, when he stated “there are no refugees or migrants living in the cold anymore. Boycott Israel Campaign mushrooms despite Repression: BDS 2016 Report

BDS impact:  round up for 2016

Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) is a Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice and equality. BDS upholds the simple principle that Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity.boycott_of_israel_bds_1

Israel’s war of repression has failed to stop the continued growth of the BDS movement for Palestinian rights. The year 2016 will be remembered by Palestinians and supporters of Palestinian freedom, justice and equality, among other things, as Israel’s year of waging an all-out war on the Palestinian-led, global BDS movement for Palestinian rights, in a desperate attempt to crush it.

In this respect, 2016 will also be remembered as the year of Israel’s spectacular failure, as BDS grew further into the mainstream, and its impact on Israel’s regime of occupation, settler-colonialism and apartheid intensified. Noam Chomsky Drops Truth Bomb on Trump’s Election

“If Clinton had won… the left could have been organized to keeping her feet to the fire.”

“They’re making a bad mistake,” Chomsky said in an interview with Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hasan.

aboliosh-prison-slaveryNYC ANARCHIST ACTION: PRISON STRIKE SOLIDARITY ACTION

Submitted to It’s Going Down

The September 9th national prison strike has forged a new potentially decisive link between the black liberation struggle in the streets and the war against the American plantation system inside the penitentiaries.

Prisoners have now launched themselves to the forefront of the struggle, setting a new bar for those of us outside.

The growing rejection of the American plantation system and the call for abolition is gaining strength.

As the prison strike is about to enter its second month, the censorship of the prison rebellion and suppression of its participants has reached a critical juncture. At least three deaths have occurred and organizers are facing extreme repression. Kinetik Justice, a key organizer in Holman Prison, has gone on a hunger strike after being shipped to a new, even more barbaric unit.

At this moment, outside support becomes vital for bridging the muting division of the prison wall.prison-strike

Prison organizer Keith Malik Washington incisively noted the following about the punishments doled out for participation in the prison strike: “There are elements and individuals within the Texas criminal justice system that don’t want to acknowledge the humanity of prisoners.

Incarcerated Alabama prison strike leader goes on hunger strike as advocate decries ‘human torture’

Alabama prisoner Robert Earl Council – known by many as Kinetic Justice – has launched a hunger strike less than two months after he gained a level of fame as a public face of the national movement…

Many of us in NYC Anarchist Action see this period as a vital situation in a chain of activities necessary for revolutionary momentum in the United States.

The slave plantation mentality is deeply embedded in the hearts and minds of the oppressor and the oppressed.” Continue reading “Many more Prison Strike Solidarity Actions”

Statements were signed under torture and presented as “evidence” of Turkish “separatism.” But there has never been any conclusive evidence of political activity, Çomak was sentenced to life imprisonment six years later.

”Ilhan’s case is one amongst thousands of cases of blatant racist persecution of the 20 million Kurdish minority and all aspects of their culture and language”.

Ilhan Çomak has published four books of poems from prison  namely Gitmeler Çiçek Kurusu (Separations are Dried Flowers), Açık Deniz (the open sea), Günaydın Yeryüzü (Good Morning Earth) and Kedilerin Yazdığı İlahi (The Divine Written by The Cats).

The poet took his case to the European Court of Human Rights. This, in 2007, forced Turkey to make a fair trial alleging that the first was not ‘clean’. It was not until 2013 that the Turkish government agreed to review the case (six years after the judgment of the ECHR). Still, the review of the trial was postponed again in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
