Trump’s incoming border czar, Tom Homan, told Fox News that Chicago will be one of many places across the country where federal authorities plan to make arrests.

This is a chance to assert an autonomous pole of organizing, carrying forward the lessons of 2020 and the movement against Cop City while continuing the fight against patriarchal violence, white supremacy, and colonialism.

We need to welcome new participants into these struggles and foster a revolutionary perspective that can orient us through the challenges ahead. No amount of internet activity could substitute for gathering face to face. The most important battles ahead will not be fought online, but in the streets of our communities.

January 18 was observed as the Day of the Forest Defender on the two-year anniversary of the murder of Tortuguita in Weelaunee Forest.

A host of workshops were organised across the US, distributing literature teaching security culture, digital security, protest safety and first aid, direct action, reproductive autonomy, forms of organization including affinity groups, and other skills that may be relevant in the years to come.

The decentralized Festival of Resistance aims to strategize about how to confront the Trump agenda in your region, a chance to expand rapid response networks for community defense and mutual aid.

It’s up to local communities to decide what best fits local context. The important thing is to create a space and get connected ahead of the next round of struggles—a space where people can hone their skills and begin to think of themselves as a collective force.

No matter who Trump’s administration targets—whether immigrants, Palestine solidarity organizers, sex workers, schoolteachers, trans people, environmentalists, or people seeking abortions—we must show that we will love and protect one another.

If we all pull together, showing everyone who wants to resist that there are movements that they can join, we can begin to build the strength that we will need to overcome the challenges ahead.

A scathing speech by Swedish youth activist Greta Thunberg and the passing presence of President Trump upstaged presentations from world leaders, who in some cases did announce pledges to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 but overall failed to offer visionary solutions for the rapid transition away from fossil fuels.

While UN Secretary General António Guterres instructed leaders to bring “concrete plans,” not “beautiful speeches,” the world’s biggest polluters, including the U.S. and China, made no further commitments to cut emissions, which will be necessary for avoiding the worst impacts of climate change.

Turkey was all set to invade, poised to first take over the Manbij area and city, with thousands of jihadi mercenaries and its 500,000 strong army.
Then on Friday 28th Dec. the Kurds, in agreement with the Manbij Council invited Assad’s Syrian army to take control and the SAA immediately agreed and its troops planted the Syrian flag near the city….

comment..      ‘An RT video shows Turkish troop convoys invading Syria at Jarablus. The Kurdish invitation to Assad’s troops to defend Manbij from Turkey and its slavering, drugged,  jihadi mercenaries has been accepted by Syria and some SAA troops are near the city.

However Erdogan seems to be going ahead with his invasion .. because it has nothing to do with a few Kurds being on the local multi ethnic council, and everything to do with destroying the Rojava Revolution, especially the liberation of women, and opening the way for a full scale invasion of eastern Rojava.

Erdogan is fuming mad, hopefully by just a day or two he has been prevented from seizing Manbij… which he would never ever give back.

Trump beats up NATO members in American Protection Racket

   by Finian Cunningham    The capo-in-chief flew into Brussels like many feared he would, beating up on other NATO members with a combination of blackmail and extortion.

President Trump wants the others to cough up more dough for the “protection” provided to them by the United States. The American leader berated European heads of state as if they were naughty children, accusing them of “freeloading” on US military power for their defense over many decades, and of giving nothing back.

Trump singled out Germany in particular for his sharpest dressing down. He accused the top European economic power of being “controlled by Russia” owing to its supposed dependence on Russian oil and gas.

Trump used that claim as a form of blackmail, alleging that Germany has been giving billions of dollars to Moscow for energy supplies, while cheating on financial payments to NATO because it relies on US military defenses. “Drop the Charges!”: Fri. May 11th Join Chelsea Manning and Former Defendants in DC!

On January 20th, 2017, hundreds of people were mass arrested while protesting Trump’s inauguration. The State then proceeded to blanket charge everyone arrested with “conspiracy” and multiple other felonies – seeking to lock them away for upwards of 80 years. The first 6 people faced trial in November, but were acquitted on all charges after the State failed to convince a jury of their guilt. Following this defeat, the US Attorney announced in January that it was dismissing charges against 129 defendants in order to focus resources on 59 people against whom they claim to have a stronger case.
On May 14th, a new group of defendants is scheduled to begin trial. In response, people are mobilizing to demand that the charges be dropped for all remaining defendants. A rally is scheduled in DC for Friday May 11th, a call-in campaign is set for May 10th – 11th, and on May 14th, people will engage in court support.
