They ask for 26,000 euros from seven women for blocking the tracks in the 2018 Feminist General Strike

By Patricia Reguero  El Salto  Original in Castillian below              The railway company of the Generalitat de Catalunya has appeared in the Summons of seven activists for blocking the tracks during the hugely successful feminist General Strike on March 8, 2018.

The campaign #8MilMotius (8000 reasons) puts in context the action in which about 30 women participated and asks for the case to be dropped.

The action, in which some 30 women participated, was one of the many that the strike committee of Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona) had scheduled for the feminist strike day. “Actions were organized, and one of them was the cutting of the railways, to symbolize the break made by a General Strike,” explains Anna Sala, one of seven women who are being investigated. How Radical-Feminist Koreans confront Misogyny

Radical feminism paves the way for a resurgent South Korean women’s movement

Stop the eviction of KASABLANKA -occupied space since 1996

We stop the eviction of KASABLANKA   ..We reveal the hypocrisy of CUP and the City Hall  (original in Catalan below)by Jip  We face an imminent trial for ”precarious Eviction’ of Kasablanka, the occupied space in Molins de Rei, Barcelona since 1996

The property is affected by an urban plan of 1996 for which the city council has expropriated and paid the former owners (despite the fact that they do not have any project for the space).

The City council has found a clause saying the property ”should be handed over  without inhabitants” that is: ourselves, with the intention to evict us without getting their hands dirty. So why don’t the Council just drop this clause? Simply because they don’t want to. Continue reading “Stop the eviction of KASABLANKA -occupied space since 1996”

Update on long term anarchist prison, Sean Swain.

The following letter is from anarchist prison rebel Sean Swain, who has been on hunger strike for 28 days in protest of disciplinary measures taken against him. Along with many other active voices on the inside, like Malik Washington, Kevin Rashid Johnson, Siddique Hasan, and Michael Kimble, Swain was preemptively retaliated against and isolated shortly before the beginning of the national prison strike on August 21st.

People can find writings by Sean Swain and details on how to write and support him here.

From Sean Swain:

“Hope it’s ok that I’m writing both of you–I got both of your birthday wishes, thank you!–but I’m low on stamps. I can only get embossed envelopes, 25 or less at a time, from usps.com or 1-800-STAMP-24.

Quick update — 28 days without food. I’m trying to organize call-in campaigns…Some contact info, if you could share this with a few thousand of your closest friends.

I’m hoping folks will call and email to urge them to drop disciplinary charges against me, as they stem from an online article someone else admits to writing. Also, they can voice concern about my health on hunger strike.”

Fascist Capitalists Triumph! Resist in every Possible Way

The Power That Must Be Resisted

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.” – Ursula Le Guin

When the outright fascist Jair Bolsonaro won the Brazilian presidency in October, it wasn’t just the poor, people of colour, LGBTQ, or indigenous peoples that lost. Indeed, the earth’s weakened biosphere and imperiled climate lost even bigger.

The president elect of the world’s 4th largest democracy has vowed to open up vast swaths of the iconic rainforest to multinational logging, cattle, mining and agricultural industries. With this one political victory the world’s ruling capitalist elite saw more dollar signs than in their wildest dreams, and the earth’s “lungs” were given a terminal prognosis.

Bolsonaro’s rise to power bears a strong resemblance to that of Donald Trump, Narendra Modi, Rodrigo Duterte and Viktor Orban.

All of them have employed the techniques of classic fascism: demonizing political opponents and the media, rhetoric endorsing violence, stoking chauvinistic nationalism, scapegoating marginalized people. Continue reading “Fascist Capitalists Triumph! Resist in every Possible Way”

Solar Foods, from just air and water, COULD save the planet

It sounds like science fiction but the Finnish company Solar Foods has already produced food with just water , electricity, the CO2 from air and trace chemicals. For starters this COULD in theory replace all animal feed with a cheaper, local, substitute, releasing 76% of arable land for forests or whatever, and abolishing world hunger.

The possibilities of Solar Food are endless, it looks like the ‘technical fix’ that could save the planet from runaway ecocide.

monsanto-ecocide

But as with all such promises it’s predator capitalism that rules, if we let it.  Perhaps Exxon, Bayer or Nestlé will buy up and bury the patents. And one of the first initiatives of the Solar Foods company is .. not to attack world hunger but to develop food growing technology on Mars!

Solar Foods produces an entirely new kind of nutrient-rich protein using only air and electricity.

An Electrifying Idea

What if we abandoned photosynthesis as the means of producing food, and released most of the world’s surface from agriculture?

By George Monbiot,   It’s not about “them”, it’s about us. The horrific rate of biological annihilation reported this week – 60% of the Earth’s vertebrate wildlife gone since 1970 – is driven primarily by the food industry. Farming and fishing are the major causes of the collapse of both marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Continue reading “Solar Foods, from just air and water, COULD save the planet”
