Planting Freedom; CNT Backs Rojava Revolution

Let’s fight against isolation. Let’s put an end to fascism. Let’s liberate Kurdistan.

International Reviews Rojava LAURA GIMENO -CNT TERUEL

During the week of 11 to 16 February a hundred internationalists have been marching from Luxembourg to Strasbourg for the “Long March internationalist”, a march that has been organized for three years and has as its main objective to demand the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. The long marches are one of the fighting tools that have been applied for many years in the points where there is a large Kurdish population in the diaspora.

For three years, this tool has been internationalized and has become a meeting point for people from different parts of the world who support the Kurdish cause, a meeting point to share experiences and training, a meeting point and confluence between different tendencies and ideologies of the left, united under the slogan “Let’s fight against isolation. Eat the Rich? How Offshore Capital Now Rules the World

Today’s super-rich are the most privileged and powerful group of people in history.  If you’re a billionaire, you can even decide an election by funneling a little bit of your money into the race. You can choose to pay 0% tax.
You can sway public opinion by buying up media outlets, and by using think tanks to influence schools and news sources. You can mobilize law enforcement agencies towards targeting your enemies, that is anyone who annoys you.

The eight richest people in the world hoard more wealth than the bottom 50% of humanity combined, they are playing with fire.

Extreme inequality and declining living standards have happened everywhere that neoliberalism has been imposed, including in the Scandinavian countries that have tried to “reform” capitalism. While the world’s eight richest men now have the same amount of wealth as the bottom half of humanity, the world’s poorest 3.6 billion people are currently getting poorer.

Some call it Moneyland, others see a return to feudal times. The offshore world could also be compared to the two-tiered architecture of imperial Panem in Suzanne Collin’s dystopian Hunger Games trilogy, which is said to reflect the workings of the Roman empire.

100’s arrested for ‘Hate Crimes against Police’ as more Catalan Defenders Criminalised

Criminalising political opposition in Catalonia

”832 people have been charged by Spanish authorities with rebellion, sedition or ‘offences against the Crown’. Most are elected representatives; 712 of those charged are town mayors”.

Ignasi Bernat and David Whyte explain why the political trials this week only reveal the tip of the iceberg.

via Z Communications     Last week, the trial of the Catalonian political prisoners began in Spain.  As the drama unfolds in front of the world, behind the scenes the Guardia Civil and the Spanish National Police will continue to round up less well-known activists for their political ”crimes”.

The criminalization of political opposition is not merely confined to the prisoners currently on trial, but is in danger of becoming a routine response, part of the modus operandi of the Spanish state.  We noted how such practices were targeting the anti-capitalist left in an article in Red Pepper last June.

This relatively hidden, ongoing targetting  has continued. Three weeks ago, the left-wing mayors of the Catalan towns of Verges and Celrà were arrested in a dawn raid along with a journalist from the magazine La Directa and 13 other activists. Urgent support call-out as Grow Heathrow eviction looms

Freedom News,

The squatted site, which was founded to oppose the nearby airport’s destructive expansion project, is facing a bailiff assault either tomorrow or on Wednesday.

Erdogan arrests 735 more Kurds as Peace Hunger Strikers near Death

Turkish security forces detain 735 more in repression against Kurds

The Turkish Interior Ministry on Sunday announced that 735 people have been arrested for ‘supporting Kurdish PKK resistance fighters’.Torture is routine in the Turkish state and prisoners spend years awaiting trial.

The PKK fighters, led by Ocalan,  had maintained a 2 year unilateral ceasefire and led the Kurds into communal democratic participation until Erdogan ordered the attack and destruction of Kurdish cities in 2016.

This is why Leyla Guven and hundreds more are hunger striking to the death: to demand Ocalan be freed from total isolation and the peace process rersumed. Continue reading “Erdogan arrests 735 more Kurds as Peace Hunger Strikers near Death”

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg to Brussels demonstration

Younger generations are now faced with a daunting twin task: preventing environmental breakdown and responding to its growing impact. The scale and pace of environmental change confirms that the only credible way forward is systemic transformation of societies and economies. To change the path that lies ahead, we must first admit that we are entering an age of unprecedented breakdown. Time is running out.

This 24 February 2019 video says about itself:

Some 35,000 Belgian school children skipped classes on Thursday to protest global warming and pollution in one of Brussels’ biggest ever student protests, vowing to miss school once a week until the Belgian government takes action.

Students banging drums and carrying signs decrying global warming gathered around the European Parliament, in what Brussels police said was an unprecedented turnout for a student protest in the Belgian capital, also home to European Union institutions.

Translated from Belgian daily De Morgen today:

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg (16) will come along to Brussels demonstration next week [Thursday 21 February]

The Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg (16), who became famous worldwide for striking week after week against climate change, will come to the Brussels climate march next week to join the protest. Anuna De Wever of Youth for Climate recently announced…

UPDATE .Leyla Hospitalised Refusing Treatment/ International Action plea for Hunger Strikers

UPDATE  UPDATE  UPDATE …..Leyla Guven is transferred to hospital, refuses treatment  ANHA
The health situation of parliamentarian Leyla Guven deteriorated and she was transferred to the hospital as she is continuing hunger strike on the 98th day. Leyla Guven refused any medical intervention to treat her.
13 Feb 2019, Wed – 15:45

Right now over 300 people, mostly Kurdish prisoners in Turkey , are on indefinite hunger strike, and many of them are reaching the stage of permanent health damage and death.
They are striking not to protest their obvious innocence or the shocking conditions, but for the right of their leader, Ocalan, to have contact with the outside world.
Ocalan in the past has declared long ceasefires with the Turkish State rejecting terrorism and separatism  in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the 15 million Kurdish population.
That seems a strange thing to die for, but Ocalan in the past has declared ceasefires with the Turkish State which have lasted years

So when the hunger strikers demand Ocalan be allowed to speak they are demanding the first step in a new peace process, and the end of the ongoing anti Kurdish pogrom in Turkey and the north of Syria.
But because the PKK is branded as terrorist by the US they get little international support.
Turkey is the real terrorist, with documented massacres or mass killings of Kurds in 1930, 1978, 1987, 2009, 2011, and 2016
The Turkish state has impunity though it is the real terrorist, with documented mass killings of Kurds in 1930, 1978, 1987, 2009, 2011, and 2016……
Letters from Leyla Güven to the women of the world
Dear women,

Even though our geographies are divided by thousands of kilometers, I’m glad you heard my voice. Even though we are from very different corners of the world, as women, we always feel. As Hypatia says, “none of us resemble each other, but the things that unite us are greater than those that separate us.” We are all sisters. What unites us the most is our struggle for freedom, our resistance against all kinds of fascism, against the dictatorship and the patriarchal mentality.
