Abdullah Öcalan must be freed

Internationalists announced why they are carrying out such a march in a press release. Emphasizing that not only the Kurdish people but also the peoples of the world need Abdullah Öcalan’s ideas, the internationalists recalled that no news had been heard from the Kurdish people’s leader since March 2021.

Internationalists recalled the petition campaigns for Öcalan, which have been carried out for years with the participation of millions of people, and added that “the philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan is necessary not only in Rojava or in the mountains of Kurdistan, but where crises occur. For this reason, we all have a duty to break the isolation in Imrali and to liberate Abdullah Öcalan.”

Kurds in Sydney demand freedom for Abdullah Öcalan

Expressing that the worldwide struggle for democracy and freedom will become stronger with the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, internationalists drew attention to the following points: “The struggle for democracy and freedom in the region must be combined with the struggle against the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan. Because Abdullah Öcalan is the architect of the democratic confederalism model, which was developed as an alternative to the nation-state model that causes wars in the world.”

Turkish strike kills four more in northeast Syria: monitor

By Turkish Minute

A Turkish strike on a Kurdish-run power plant in northeastern Syria killed four people, a monitor said Wednesday, an operation Ankara said coincided with raids on Kurdish targets in Iraq, Agence France-Presse reported.

Turkish drones struck a village near the northeastern Syrian town of Derik on Feb. 1, 2022. (Photo: Rojava Information Centre)”This bombardment has sparked a mass civilian exodus, as numerous people have fled to safer areas,” the report said

The Tuesday night strikes hit a power plant near the town of Al-Malikiyah in Hasakeh province, where a brazen jailbreak attempt by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group last month sparked days of clashes that have left hundreds dead, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

“At least four people were killed in the strike targeting a power station near Al-Malikiyah,” said the war monitor, which relies on a network of sources inside Syria.

It said the raids killed power plant staff and fighters of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces — the Kurdish administration’s de-facto army.

They also caused some damage to the power station resulting in a blackout in surrounding towns and villages, the war monitor added.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ankara said its warplanes targeted several positions held by Kurdish armed groups in Iraq and Syria, including in Al-Malikiyah.

It said it hit suspected bases of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) which Ankara views as terrorists.

The YPG, which forms the backbone of the SDF, condemned the Turkish strikes that came on the heels of ISIL’s largest Syria operation in three years.

“Turkey tries to continue what ISIS started,” it said on Twitter, using a different acronym for ISIL.

“Everyone has to take action against this attack now.”

Washington relied heavily on the SDF to defeat ISIL jihadists who overran large swathes of Syria and neighboring Iraq in 2014.

The SDF said 40 of its fighters as well as more than 70 prison guards and staff were killed in the week-long ISIL attack on the Ghwayran jail in Hasakeh.

Interview with an international comrade from Czech in the YPJ (Rojava Women’s Defense)

Rojava. An interview by Women Defend Rojava with comrade Ruken from the Czech Republic, member of the YPJ. Originally published by Women Defend Rojava.

WHY INTERNATIONALIST WOMEN COME TO ROJAVA ?

In many revolutions, international participation has been an important part of the revolutionary process and the Rojava Revolution is not an exception.

We are living in times of global chaos, there are many different crises in the world. Time shows us, that the real face of capitalism can not be hidden anymore, it is capitalism by itself causing those crisis and becoming itself unsustainable. People all over the world are struggling for changes and searching for alternatives.

The capitalist mindset wants to make us believe, that is it the last and the most developed solution. But the reality shows us, it is the system that is the most against society ever. In the Democratic Confederal System, already with 10 years experience in Rojava, the communal life and economy, women liberation and ecologic approach are the three main pillars of the Revolution.

Nesrin Abdullah, spokeswoman YPJ: ‘the struggle is not only for the defense of our land, but also for transforming people’

They are offering us a realizable alternative and solution to most essential social problems. Of course, this will not happen from one day to the other and without a lot of effort, difficulties, and struggle.
Many women from all over the world are inspired by this Revolution and coming to Rojava to take part in this process and join YPJ. To join this Revolution is to give an important step in this struggle.

WHO IS THE YPJ AND WHAT ARE THEY FIGHTING FOR ?

The Philosophy of Abdullah Ocalan has become the path for liberation to thousands, not only Kurdish people. It is putting a light on a skeptical and dark vision of our future and giving us hope for a more equal and just life.

YPJ soldier with freed girl after the epic battle to free Manbij… Illustrating the inspiring change from medieval Sharia law to anarcha-feminism.

Self-defence is a basic function and inherent to all livings beings. Also YPG – YPJ were built from this basic need to defend and protect their people. But it is important to say YPG – YPJ is essentially different from the state ‘s armies.

In the first place, they are not protecting the interests of any state, neither struggling for hegemony nor wanting to invade the lands of others. They are The People and Women Protection Units.
Partipation is voluntary and always connected to the revolutionary ideology.

The Kurdish people for hundreds of years have been under constant attacks and all kinds of genocides. It is the Turkish state with the help of different Islamist extremist groups as AL- Nusra or Daesh, and the interests of hegemonic powers under-knees, whose want to wipe out the Kurds from mother earth and take the profit from their ancient land.

YPJ forces fought in the desperate defence of Afrin against ERdogan’s invasion with thousands of German made tanks, NATO warplanes and Russian airspace permission.

But despite all the attacks, invasions, embargoes and difficulties the Kurdish people have resisted and have not stopped to struggle for their outonomy and dignity… They also heroically defeated the Daesh and liberate the territory. Which is today known as The Democratic Confederation of North- Eastern Syria.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN AS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN PARTICIPATE IN YPJ ?

Many women from different places come to participate because they feel connected to these ideas. The fact itself, to be the only women unit is a very inspiring and liberating idea.

YPJ soldiers in the liberation of Raqqa, the ISIS capital

For thousands of years, women have been shaped and oppressed by the patriarchal mentality, force to look and feel like weak beings, always to be depending on somebody or being seen as the property of a man, a mentality which is still present not only here in the Middle East. Women have been pushed out from social spheres, used as a slaver or instruments to produce children and serve to man.

Women suffer violence, get kill and abuse everywhere, no matter how much “progressive” the country is where they are from. To be a woman is to be connected by this reality and by the same struggle and purpose.

“The society will be not free till women will not be free” Abdullah Ocalan

All women need to know how to defend themself, be aware of their strenght, struggle for own liberation, protect their community and fight of their land.

YPJ victory over ISIS

The biggest threat for Rojava in the present is the Turkish state, which hand by hand with Islamist extremist have occupied three cities from the liberated territory, using the dirties methods and causing many war crimes. The attacks still continue despite several international agreements and with the presence and silence of world hegemonies.

To resit and against those attacks, it is not only to give own life in the struggle against fascism, but it also resists against the whole mindset, which is behind those crimes and ruling the world in our present days.

Freedom Convoy: Ottawa State of Emergency > Police ATTACK! + New Zealand’s Convoy Begins

Ottawa mayor seeks federal assistance, insisting totally peaceful massive anti-Covid-mandate protests are out of control.

note: no new twitter videos or news today as they have BANNED us for 6 days for sharing a post on the vaccines by Dr Malone.

Ottawa mayor Jim Watson has declared a state of emergency, citing “serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents,” as Freedom Convoy truckers and their pedestrian supporters continue to occupy the capital.

The move comes after Watson lamented earlier on Sunday that police have been outnumbered by the demonstrators, and indicated he wants the federal government to help quash the protest.

While Ontario has refused to budge regarding its Covid-19 restrictions, the provinces of Quebec and Saskatchewan have already rolled back some of their stricter measures, while Alberta announced that a vote to lift the mandates will be held this week.

“The situation at this point is completely out of control because the individuals with the protest are calling the shots,” Watson told Newstalk radio. “They have far more people than we have police officers and I’ve indicated to the chief that we have to be much more nimble and proactive when it comes to these activities.”

Organizers have indicated they plan to stay in Ottawa for the “long haul,” seeking donations from supporters to cover the costs of fuel, food, and lodging.

After fundraising platform GoFundMe froze $7 million in donations, they regrouped on Christian competitor GiveSendGo, overloading the platform’s servers as supporters rushed to pledge their money once more.

Declaring a state of emergency reflects the serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents posed by the ongoing demonstrations and highlights the need for support from other jurisdictions and levels of government

But the real reason for the State Of Emergency is to get authorization to call in the Military to attack the peaceful demonstrators

Before announcing the emergency, Watson pleaded with the federal government to “sit down and have some kind of a discussion, some kind of mediation to get this situation resolved because it’s now spreading across the country.”

Attempts to divert trucks to the Ottawa Baseball Stadium to keep them out of downtown appear to have backfired, with the stadium turning into a “staging area” for the demonstrators with saunas and reportedly even bouncy castles for protesters’ children along with a refueling station and other supplies.

Watson’s statements echoed an admission by Police Chief Peter Sloly on Saturday. “We do not have sufficient resources to adequately and effectively address this situation while adequately and effectively providing policing in this city,” the top cop said during a meeting with the Ottawa Police Services Board. Referring to the demonstration as a “siege,” he insisted it was “something that is different in our democracy than something I’ve ever experienced in my life.”

While Sloly has repeatedly claimed “all options are on the table,” PM Justin Trudeau last week ruled out deploying the military, acknowledging that such a response should be a matter of last resort. The protesters have promised to hold the line until the government repeals its vaccination mandates and QR code “health passports.”

The protesters have largely refrained from violence and property damage, though that hasn’t stopped Sloly and other opponents of the convoy from invoking the supposed “insurrection” Capitol riot of January 6. Authorities have placed heavy barricades at key crossing points throughout downtown and closed roads in an effort to keep out the endless parade of trucks.

Some 5,000 people and 1,000 vehicles descended on downtown Ottawa on Saturday, joining the multitudes already present on the 10th day of the ongoing demonstration. A smaller counter-protest took place at City Hall.

Police boasted that 450 tickets had been issued in the “red zone” around Parliament Hill since Saturday morning, though most were for minor infractions such as obstructed license plates, seatbelt violations, fireworks or cell phone usage. The Ottawa Police Service is also investigating alleged threats to public officials and a whopping 200 calls to its hate crime hotline, though they didn’t reveal the target of the “hate.”

New Zealand’s Truck Convoy Hits New Plymouth

Our year-old vaccine choice movement finally made the mainstream news tonight when TV1 reported on the reception our national truck convoy received in our local area. We had a little over 400 supporters to greet them in New Plymouth (pop 87,300), with about 150 more spread over some of the smaller towns.

Truckies were divided into North and South Island convoys, with the North Island convoy further divided into East and West Coast branches.

The Bonanza lagoons will finally be legally protected!

5/02/2022 | Group, cover, Wetlands, Sanlúcar Read original in Spanish HERE : https://wp.me/pIJl9-ohX

Ecologists in Action asks the competent administrations, Provincial Delegation and City Hall, to start working on awareness campaigns directed towards neighbors, groups and other sectors.

The Junta de Andalucía, in response to a formal request from Ecologistas en Acción, has started the process that will lead to the Bonanza lagoons being legally declared Protected Andalusian Wetlands in less than 3 months.

There are many threats that hang over the lagoons. All of them suffer from garbage discharges such as agricultural residues, occupation of their margins, overexploitation of the aquifer and contamination by fertilizers.

Not only do we have to conserve the lagoons. Economic activities such as agriculture, urban planning, services, have to be respectful of nature and use natural resources: soil and water in a sustainable way.

The area is within the urban matrix and the impacts described will tend to intensify over time.

In addition, the combination of Climate Change and the extraction of groundwater in the environment can dry up the lagoons, as is happening throughout the Doñana Natural Area.

An urgent problem is to stop the destruction of the banks by landfilling and illegal occupation, by some of the owners of the adjoining farms.

Ecologistas en Acción expresses its deep satisfaction with the approval of the Wetlands Committee to include the Bonanza lagoons in the Inventory of Wetlands of Andalusia. They also thank the Territorial Delegate for Sustainable Development of Cádiz, Daniel Sánchez, for recognizing Ecologistas en Acción for having reasonably requested such inclusion, about two years ago.

The request is based on the fact that the 4 lagoons are the habitat of 5 birds included in the Catalog of threatened species with the highest category: species in danger of extinction: White-headed Duck, Moorish Coot, Marbled Teal, Porrón Pardo and Squacco Egret; plus another 5 legally protected species.

The emblem of the Bonanza lagoons is the malvasia ( Oxyura

leucocephala, White-headed Duck) , a resident species of diving duck with a population of several dozen specimens (75 pairs were recorded in a census in 2011).The male has a white head with black crown, a blue bill, and reddish-grey plumage. The female has a dark bill and rather duller colouring. Its breeding habitat is lakes with open water and dense vegetation at the margin.

The presence of these species obliges the administration to legally protect the lagoons. However, the lagoons do not have any environmental protection. The recognition of this fact, finally after many years of unjust lack of protection, has concluded today in the commitment to protect them.

Therefore, the procedures for inclusion in the Andalusian Wetland Inventory are now beginning, which should last a maximum of 3 months and will include

The exact delimitation of the wetland;
the description of its natural values;
a diagnosis of its state of conservation and its threats;
and the establishment of what should be the measures for its effective protection.

El calamón viste un azul increíble; imperial. laguna Bonanza

With the end of the process, the lagoons will already be protected natural spaces with the legal name of “Andalusian Wetland”. Given this, the Ministry of Sustainable Development acquires the obligation to make the necessary public investments for the conservation and rational use of the natural resources of these lagoons.

Currently, these lagoons are land classified in the PGOU as non-developable land: Free Suburban Spaces, destined for urban parks, except for the case of the lagoon located in the Veta de la Serrana, which is classified as Developable Land destined for tertiary facilities (hotels) , which makes no sense in a non-developable environment.

The urban park planned in the PGOU of 1997! never got done. We hope that the Sanlúcar City Council will change the catrgory of the Veta lagoon to non-developable and said land will be expropriated, allowing the conservation of this lagoon, which is the most degraded.

In the same way, there are many threats that hang over the lagoons. All of them suffer from garbage discharges such as agricultural residues, occupation of their margins, overexploitation of the aquifer and contamination by fertilizers.

Not only do we have to conserve the lagoons. Economic activities such as agriculture, urban planning, services, have to be respectful of nature and use natural resources: soil and water in a sustainable way.

To conclude, from Ecologistas en Acción we ask the competent administrations, the Provincial Delegation and the City Council, to start working on awareness campaigns directed towards neighbors, groups and other sectors, which are in the area of influence, to give the value that corresponds to these wetlands.

  • La delimitación exacta del humedal;
  • la descripción de sus valores naturales;
  • un diagnóstico sobre su estado de conservación y sus amenazas;

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is calamon-5.JPG

A start-up in Sweden has begun recruiting crows as part of a pilot project to clean up the streets and squares of Södertälje, a city near the Swedish capital, Stockholm. The birds are being incentivized by food offerings, dispensed from a bespoke machine designed by rookie outfit Corvid Cleaning.

“They are wild birds taking part on a voluntary basis,” said Christian Günther-Hanssen, founder of Corvid Cleaning. He stated that his methods could save the city at least 75% of the cost involved in cleaning the streets of cigarette butts.

Research suggests that the New Caledonian crow, the bird being recruited for the street cleaning, is as developed at reasoning as a seven-year-old human.

“They are easier to teach and there is also a higher chance of them learning from each other. At the same time, there’s a lower risk of them mistakenly eating any rubbish,” Günther-Hanssen said.

He claimed that the cost per cigarette butt picked up is 80 öre [Swedish change] or more, and that, if effective, the birds could greatly reduce this cost.

According to the Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation, some one billion cigarette butts are dropped on Sweden’s streets each year. It represents 62% of all litter and Södertälje itself spends 20 million Swedish kronor ($2.16 million) on street-cleaning each year.

If the pilot project goes to plan, the machines could be rolled out across the city.
