Capitalism is like Cancer : Direct Democracy is the answer

US Capitalism..  racing to a cliff with Faster Growth and less Brakes

'You can't trust humans with power over others. We need to refuse to obey at all levels and decide everything with direct assembly democracy. If not Capitalism always wins.''
‘You can’t trust humans with power over others. We need to refuse to obey at all levels and decide everything with direct assembly democracy. If not Capitalism always wins.”

leaders remain wedded to economic metrics that say little about the well-being of humans and the environment.

Last month the Associated Press reported that the income gap in the United States broke a new record in 2012, with the 1 percent grabbing a greater share of total household wealth than ever before in history.

This news follows on the heels of the fact that the 1 percent not only captured all of the income gains during the first two years of the economic recovery, but also stole a portion of the already-existing incomes of the bottom 99 percent, causing median household income to decline despite overall economic growth. Let Them Go, Mr Putin: 27 Activists and Greenpeace boat kidnapped

by Stuart Jeanne Bramhall / September 22nd, 2013oildisaster3

When it suits its purposes, Russia seems to have the same propensity as the US to thumb its nose at international law. Two weeks ago, Putin acquired immense international stature and prestige by halting the imminent threat of US missile strikes in Syria. Now he seems to have squandered it all by illegally seizing a Greenpeace vessel in international waters. Continue reading “Let Them Go, Mr Putin: 27 Activists and Greenpeace boat kidnapped”

Shrink That Footprint: balloon graphic

Greenhouse gas emissions explained, in seven balloons

greenhousegases

In 2010, human activity caused 50 gigatonnes of CO2 equivalent in emissions. The emissions were 76 percent carbon dioxide, 16 percent methane, 8 percent nitrous oxide, and 2 percent F-gases.

The biggest emitters were China (23 percent), the U.S. (14 percent), Europe (10 percent), India (5 percent), and Russia (5 percent).

And the primary sources of emissions were energy (35 percent), industry (18 percent), transport (13 percent), agriculture (11 percent), forestry (11 percent), buildings (8 percent), and waste (4 percent). The sources are explained in more detail in the balloons. Corrupt Spain to privatise sunshine, destroy renewables

Spain Privatizes The Sun: Multi Millon Dollar Penalties For Collecting Sunlight

solar-bicycle

If you get caught collecting photons of sunlight for your own use you can get a fine not exceeding 30 million euros What the hell is going on in Spain? This is one of 100’s of crazy, often neo-fascist measures by a govt with a total majority (by default) yet drowning in corruption scandals and huge popular resistance. They’ve already decimated the promising renewable energy sector by taxes and cutting out promised subsidies, while keeping them on coal, oil and fracking. What the hell? Why? For one thing the fossil fuel sector has huge scandals, its a honey pot, eg. they’re raising prices to pay billions for estimated losses due to modernisation;  for 40 years electric meters grossly overcharged the public;  gas purchase prices are totally secret and pegged to projected oil levels… Billions go missing, the PP (ruling party) treasurer was found to have 40m euros, just in his swiss accounts. Rampant pay offs have continued unabated from the fascist era. Indicted politicians ( there are over 1000) stood again and got re-elected.
