International Action Day against Femicide of Yazidi Women

3 August 2017 marks the 3rd anniversary of the Femicide and Genocide by Islamic State (IS) against Yazidi people in Sinjar/Shengal. 4

On 3 August 2014 IS attacked and captured Sinjar, which is the historical homeland of Yazidis, a Kurdish religious minority whose ancient religion is linked to Zoroastrianism. IS destroyed Yazidi shrines, executed resisters and demanded the residents to swear allegiance or be killed.Image result for yazidis in raqqa revenge The Sinjar Women’s Units was formed in 2015 to protect the Yazidi community in the wake of attacks by Isis

During the IS-massacre in Sinjar up to 5.000 Yazidis were executed. Almost 200.000 people managed to flee. 50.000 Yazidis fled into the Sinjar Mountains, where they were trapped without food, water or medical care, facing starvation and dehydration. Anarcha-Feminism.. by Flick Ruby..’real anarchists are always feminist’

For too long anarcha feminists have been labeled as the ladies auxiliary of male bomb throwers. The misconception and manipulation of both feminists and anarchist principles and practice have resulted in the use of sensationalist and ridiculing tactics by the state and its spokespeople.

This has not only polarised the general populace from potentially liberation concepts but has also polarised anarchist from feminists. In the past and more so recently there has been a uniting of these beliefs and Peggy Kornegger’s book; ‘Anarchism; the Feminist Connection’ goes so far as to say that the two genres of thought are inextricably tied although the connection has not been consciously articulated by feminists very often.

Kornegger argues that feminism “emphasis on the small group as a basic organisational unit, on the personal and political, on anti- authoritarianism and on spontaneous direct action was essentially anarchism.

I believe that this puts women in a unique position of being the bearers of a subsurface anarchist consciousness which if articulated and concretised can take us further than any previous group toward the achievement of total revolution.Image result for anarchist feminist

While anarchism has provided a framework for the transformation required, for far too long even this revolutionary ideology has been largely male identified; male articulated, male targeted and male exclusive in both its language and participation. It has therefore been unfortunately lacking in vital analysis especially with regard to the psychological and physical realities of oppression experienced by the majority of the human population: women. Support Jessica and Ruby: DAPL Eco-Sabotage Heroes: Resistance Goes On.

Two activists have come forward and admitted to some of the multiple acts of eco-sabotage against the Dakota Access Pipeline in Spring 2017.
Several of these incidents had been previously hidden from the public. Much of the sabotage took place with minimal equipment and training, and during broad daylight.

The women have come forward in the hope that others will support and be inspired by their actions.Image result for eco sabotage DAPL

They have currently been arrested on a lesser charge, and the FBI is investigating. Deep Green Resistance is reaching out via our Political Prisoner / Prisoner of War Support Group and aims to provide whatever assistance possible.

This is a developing story and more news will be coming soon. Press release follows:

The Dakota Access Pipeline is an issue that affects this entire nation and the people that are subject to its rule. With DAPL we have seen incredible issues regarding the rule of law, indigenous sovereignty, land seizures, state sanctioned brutality, as well as corporate protections and pardons for their wrongdoings. To all those that continue to be subjected to the government’s injustices, we humbly stand with you, and we ask now that you stand with us. ‘The Free’, original 1986 edition. now a free download

Recently  a few people have asked for  the original version of The Free in digital form so I took in the old book and the German version and had them scanned. This is the result. the scan wasn’t too good and I had to go through it all, fiercely resisting the temptation to improve the text, hopefully I haven’t missed too many typos.

The Free (original short 1986 and 1990 edition)  Epub 1.6mb

‘This short, original version is the same tale but darker and more violent, focusing less on  revolution and more on guerilla struggle’.

.Dr Daniel P. Jaeckle, author of ‘Embodied Anarchy in Ursula K. Le Guin’s ‘The Dispossessed’ said this of the first version of The Free

I should add that the 1986 version has its own interest. It does not often engage in ideological statements, it ends with the more realistic deaths of some characters as opposed to the more romantic ending of the 2007 version, and the speed of the narrative is compelling. I encourage those who can find the 1986 version to read it as well.

In appreciation..  by Emma Goldman

”Suggestions that I write my memoirs came to me when I had barely begun to live, and continued all through the years. But I never paid heed to the proposal. I was living my life intensely — what need to write about it?

Another reason for my reluctance was the conviction I entertained that one should write about one’s life only when one had ceased to stand in the very torrent of it. “When one has reached a good philosophic age,” I used to tell my friends, “capable of viewing the tragedies and comedies of life impersonally and detachedly — particularly one’s own life — one is likely to create an autobiography worth while.”

Still feeling adolescently young in spite of advancing years, I did not consider myself competent to undertake such a task. Moreover, I always lacked the necessary leisure for concentrated writing.

My enforced European inactivity left me enough time to read a great deal, including biographies and autobiographies. I discovered, much to my discomfiture, that old age, far from ripening wisdom and mellowness, is too often fraught with senility, narrowness, and petty rancour. I would not risk such a calamity, and I began to think seriously about writing my life. Continue reading “Emma Goldman’s ‘Living My Life’..read and download here”

The Great Hamburg Riot: review, solidarity, lessons, celebrations

A Greeting from the Future | Communique of the ‘..Ums Ganze’ Alliance concerning the events around the G20-Protests in Hamburg

It’s not as if they haven’t tried. Like never before, the ‘Security Departments’ and the political establishment undertook all measures the bourgeois-democratic state has to offer. All repressive and ideological apparatuses were employed to keep the protests small and under control.

Firstly – intimidation, then the restriction of camping, of staying overnight and trespassing, revoking the right to assemble, a coup by the police against the judiciary and the militarisation of the police.

The Green Party divided the protest, calling for a rally during the summit, whose focus was not the summit itself but to ‘show courage’ for ‘our way of life’.Image result for support hamburg G20 protest prisoners

During the summit, almost 20000 cops under the control of the paid sadist Dudde, with dozens of water cannons, stables of horses and dogs, helicopters, and special commandos with guns followed his bidding… continues

After G20 in Hamburg] Solidarity call « Contra Info  ..  Let’s act in solidarity with all those affected by repression during the G20, and update about their situation through counter-information networks. Let’s make sure that they don’t remain alone. The more actions, the more pressure on the authorities, the media and their world. For anarchy!     in German

..They brutally attacked left-wing campers, autonomous demonstrators, residents, journalists and sit-ins by refugees, leading to several people being severely injured before the summit had even begun. It’s a miracle no-one died.

Why is Facebook Banning Lesbians for Using the word ‘dyke’?

Don’t let Facebook tell us who we are, protest the banning for using the word DYKE!

In the days leading up to the annual Pride marches that took place in many North American cities, reports that lesbians were being banned from Facebook began to surface.

Co-founder of MichFest, the famed annual women’s music festival that was held every August from 1976 to 2015, Lisa Vogel, noted the irony of Facebook’s rainbow “reaction,” paired with their apparent targeting of lesbians.

Over the weekend, more and more women reported being banned — either for posting the word “dyke” in some form, or for simply posting about the bans. Continue reading “Why is Facebook Banning Lesbians for Using the word ‘dyke’?”
