On Sunday (30th) night anti-fascists clashed with police during an anti-fascist patrol which resulted in 15 people injured and 23 arrested.
Around 9pm the easy riders crossed paths with far-right members of Golden Dawn in the Athens neighbourhood of Agios Pantalaimonos. Unsurprisingly a heated political debate ensued with two fascists requiring hospital treatment as their oratory skills were found lacking. The Greek mainstream media reports residents being present during the incident and one local producing a gun but not using it. Afterwards the anti-fascist motor division was followed and ambushed by Greek police motorcycle units.
On Monday (2nd) an anti-fascist demonstration was called for outside the courthouse. Around 300 people attended the solidarity demo. As the anti-fascists exited the courthouse to be escorted back to the police vehicles and driven to the cells the police attacked the demo dispersing those gathered to the nearby streets. This led to another 20 people being detained with four arrests who were promptly taken to court next day.
The anti-fascist motorbike chapter has come about in response to relentless attacks by fascist groups on foreign minorities. Continue reading “Greek heroes fight fascist and police thugs”

Cooperative Integrated Catalans Coop is a good example of a work/consume collective with its own credit system. Its a working tool and use and buying collective proposing solidarity, a social currency and building homes in the middle of the European crisis.
(ANSOL.) – About 70 kilometers from Barcelona, 850 Spanish formed a year ago Cooperativa Integral Catalana (CIC), a structure that proposes cooperative thinking and lifestyle combining work and consumption into a single entity.
“The comprehensive cooperative is a step beyond consumer cooperatives, it seeks also to provide services, creating a network of trust between the people associated that will cover many aspects of his life and a desire to transform” explained legal team responsible for CIC, Gema Palamos, according to the newspaper Diagonal. On the morning of October 4th, approximately 500 workers at the Skaramangas shipyard (West Attica), gathered outside the greek ministry of defense on Mesogeion Avenue. The workers were protesting for the fact that they have not been paid their last 6 monthly wages.
The workers quickly gathered around the hellenic army general staff HQ. Soon thereafter riot police entered the courtyard and clashed with the workers. At least 120 detentions of workers were reported and the tension continued outside the police HQ on Alexandras Ave (where anti-fascists are still held following arrests earlier in the week).

At approximately the same time, in the city of Heraclion, Crete, farmers gathered in the city centre to protest again the forthcoming cuts in their pensions, as part of the latest round of austerity cuts expected to be announced in the coming days, or weeks.
Later in the afternoon the farmers moved to the city’s international airport, entering its halls and attempting to smash through the gate of the airport in order to occupy its runway. Riot police used tear gas and the farmers responded by tossing stones at the police. Continue reading “Greek Uprising: Defense Ministry stormed. Airport Occupied..”
