Yesterday more convoys of Turkish troops, tanks, artillery and supplies were videoed entering Idlib province to fortify the 12 ‘security points’, now and forever major Turkish military bases in the new ”Demilitarized” Zone..

You can be sure the Turks will never willingly leave. Popular islamo-fascist dictator Erdogan has boasted he will ”take back all the lands” of the genocidal Ottoman Empire. Turkey has already seized Jarablus, Azas, El Bab and Afrin and all are being ”Turkified” with ethnic cleansing.

Idlib, with 2.5 million people, is the last chaotic bastion of ‘rebel’ groups, earnest young jihadi fighters and their families, many exiled from other parts of Syria. Most have lost their salaries from the US and Arab states as the war winds down.

Turkey has been busy ‘recruiting with threats’, rearming them and paying 500 Turkish lira a month, which with the fall of the currency is worth barely $80 US, hardly enough to eat.

Turkey has a direct border with Idlib via the Iskendun province which it seized and ‘Turkified’ in the last century.

The new agreement, cynically approved by Russia is for a 15 to 20km wide Turkish controlled ‘demilitarized’ zone (though totally militarized) around Idlib occupying about 25% of the province, and growing.

Many factions have signed up with the Turkish paymasters, including the entire NFL, formed by ten FSA groups and the SLF alliance including Ahrar al-Sham and Nour al-Din But the main resistance alliance, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has refused, though its leader Mohammad al-Julani had negotiated a divisive truce with the Turks before to gain time.

HTS is strong and well organised, has social services, collects taxes and though originally Al Qaida is now no more fundamentalist than various Arab states. But Idlib is a chaos under siege, with so many ‘rebel’ groups and refugees. Dozens of HTS leaders have been assassinated recently and one wing is happy to sell out to Erdogan. Erdogan had sought to delay an attack by trying to convince HTS to dissolve, join the FSA coalition of Turkish-backed rebels, and gertv paid. But the group’s leadership has resisted those calls, and instead vowed to fight on. Turkey could stand aside for a limited government offensive against HTS in return for the regime leaving Turkish presence in Idlib untouched .

The outcome in Idlib is still uncertain. Russia has let Erdogan take control of the situation, in exchange for gas and arms deals in a cynical reminder of the Stalin/Hitler pact. Erdogan is busily threatening Europe again with ‘letting loose the Idlib terrorists’.

All this is very bad news for occupied Afrin, with half the population exiled and ”settlers” arriving every day, many of them arab islamists from Idlib.

Defeated but defiant. Massacres by Turkish troops and the mercenaries of FSA around Afrin as the NATO tanks finally rolled in and the Afrin defense became a guerilla war..

Afrin is now even more cut off with ‘Turkification’ in full swing and Erdogan’s mercenaries seizing goods and property and committing mass rape and kidnapping.

To this blatant war crime in illegally annexed Afrin is added forced language change, abolished progressive and horizontally organised Kurdish local councils, closed or destroyed schools, women forced into servitude, etc,.etc.

YPG Kills 10 of Turkey’s Terrorist Invaders In Afrin City Center

The People’s Protection Units (YPG) on Wednesday said they killed 10 and injured another 20 in an attack on the Turkish army and the rebel al-Hamza Division group on Sunday.“Within the scope of the resistance in Afrin, our units continue to target the occupying Turkish army elements and their allied terrorist groups,” the YPG said in a statement.

“On Aug. 12, our forces targeted Turkish troops and Firqat al-Hamza (Hamza Division) terrorists with two separate bombing operations on the road leading to the Tirandah neighborhood in Afrin city center,” said it added.

The Syrian Democratic Forces spokesman (SDF) has denied that military units of his militia are moving to Idlib to collaborate with the Arab Syrian Army (SAA). “The liberation of Efrîn remains our priority. ‘TheFreeOnline’ blog banned in Turkey with Dozens more pro Rojava and anti Fascist sites

We have received copies from WordPress.com of Court Orders granted to Turkey to order them to ban this blog thefreeonline in Turkey and for internet users ”originating on Turkey”and also around 50 more blogs for posts against fascism, racism and patriarchy by the ‘elected dictator’ Erdogan and in favour or Democratic Confederalism. ( see list below, includes Latuff Cartoons, Desert Peace, Uprooted Palestinians, etc).

thefreeonline is a modest blog which promotes a utopian novel called The Free and posts relevant news, etc, in this case about the inspiring bottom up democratic revolution in Rojava, which has been brutally repressed in Turkey itself and now in Afrin with the Turkish invasion.You can’t read thefreeonline anymore in Turkey (except with a Vpn or Tor) , or if you’re a person ”originating in Turkey” (we’re not sure how that works, but the order seems to aim at blogs translating or sharing news from exiled Turkish people and supporters..

The ban includes the suppression of much more frequented sites, see list below, and probably there are many more, and perhaps Google and other blog hosts have followed wordpress’s example of refusing to appeal the banning orders.

WordPress’s statement says ”we must comply to keep WordPress.com accessible for everyone in Turkey. We will not be challenging this order in court”. In other words Erdogan is blackmailing again, threatening to ban all WordPress.com blogs from Turkey (as they did before) unless those critical of him are suppressed.

Stop Erdogan`s Reelection ...After jailing 195,000 People who might not like him, launching campaigns against minorities and women, and massacring Kurds to ‘reestablish the Turkish Empire’ the President of Turkey has called a snap election to legitimate his power, on Sunday June 24th. Open Letter To UK & Iceland Governments

Haukur Hilmarsson’s mother, Eva Hauksdóttir, has issued an open letter to the governments of Iceland and the UK, imploring them “to confront Turkish authorities on their obligations to the dead.”

As reported, Haukur distinguished himself in Raqqa, where he rose to the rank of commander in the International Freedom Battalion. After helping rout the Islamic State from the area, he later joined the fighting against encroaching Turkish forces in northern Syria. It was in Afrin, a Syrian city that has seen heavy casualties lately, where he ultimately fell in combat.Since then, Haukur’s mother and friends have been imminently frustrated by a lack of concerted response from related governments, who they feel have not done enough to try and retrieve Haukur’s remains and return them to Iceland.

We don’t know the exact number of Kurds killed in Afrin since Turkish forces launched the Operation Olive Branch last January, but evidently the toll is high. Thousands of Kurdish fighters are dead or wounded. Hundreds of civilians have been killed or wounded and thousands displaced.

While a large number of devastated families have fled Afrin, many of them after being forced out of their homes to make space for other displaced and persecuted Syrians, others stay in Afrin, trying to move on in grim circumstances. One of the many things that make their life arduous is that dead bodies are still lying around, decomposing in open fields and farmlands.”. Introduction

With the defeat of the IS in Syria and especially after the liberation of Raqqa in October 2017, the Turkish state intensified its threats and attacks on the Democratic Confederation of Northern Syria. On this background the Turkish occupation war on Afrin started on the 20th January 2018 violating international law and the sovereignty of its neighbour country.

The Turkish army has launched this war in cooperation with jihadist groups of the FSA ranks. Many of them are former Al-Qaida or IS members. Since the beginning of March, all districts and the city centre of Afrin had been under heavy bombardments, shelling and drone surveillance by the Turkish army targeting especially civilians.

: #BreakSilenceOnAfrin One of the hundreds of former ISIS fighters who fled to Turkey, recruited as “FSA” and now is attacking Afrin together with turks. This is turkey’s war on Kurds.

On March 18th more than 200,000 people left the town centre and were evacuated in order to avoid a physical genocide. Since then the majority of refugees are staying in the Shehba region without security guarantees or international support.

In this new phase, the confrontation between the international powers and their interests is increasing all over Syria.

Last week’s Developments inside Afrin

After 78 days of resistance against Turkish occupation war, hundreds of thousands of people from Afrin Canton are still displaced and facing difficult conditions. The Turkish army and its jihadist allies are implementing ethnic cleansing, assimilation and colonisation policies, making preparations to add the region Afrin de-facto to Turkey’s state territory.

At the same time thousands of jihadists have been transferred from Goutha to Afrin to create demographic changes and install an Islamic-Turkish order.

The resistance of YPG-YPJ forces in the all districts of Canton Afrin carries on, as well as the resistance of the displaced people from Afrin in Sherawa and Shehba region.

Turkey has extended it threats now towards Til Rifat/Shehba region, Minbij and Shingal. Moreover, the tension between the two blocks Russia-Turkey-Iran and the US lead International Coalition are growing.

War and Humanitarian Situation

The conditions of Afrin’s people displaced in Shehba region are still very precarious and insecure. However, works to build camps and to organised delivery of supplies and humanitarian aid are organised by the Democratic Self-administrations of Northern Syria and the Kurdish Red Crescent.
