Hundreds of thousands of garment workers walked out of their factories in Bangladesh Thursday, police said, to protest the deaths of up to 1000 people in a building collapse, in the latest tragedy to hit the sector.

Grief turned to anger as the workers, some carrying sticks, blockaded key highways in at least three industrial areas just outside the capital Dhaka, forcing factory owners to declare a day’s holiday.

“There were hundreds of thousands of them,” said Abdul Baten, police chief of Gazipur district, where hundreds of large garment factories are based. “They occupied roads for a while and then dispersed.”

Police inspector Kamrul Islam said the workers had attacked several factories whose bosses had refused to give employees the day off.

“They were protesting the deaths of the workers in Savar,” he said, referring to the town outside Dhaka where Wednesday’s collapse of an eight-storey building housing five garment factories took place, injuring more than 1,000 people. Who are those grinning Anti-systemites?

anti-systemites

The papers call us ‘anti-systemites’

Who are we? What are we against? When do we appear?
When do we we vanish?

Now we understand, that veteran, with glasses and gray hair, who first glanced at the fire and then threw on cartons to stir it up: he was an anti-systemite!

And how about those adolescents who parked their bikes and helped break the windows of the museum Diocesiá (the fraudsters and abusers). They were anti system too.cop car Continue reading “Who are those grinning Anti-systemites?”

Politicians continue Mass Evictions, order Police to attack Doorstep Demos

many commit suicide when eviction day arrives
many commit suicide when eviction day arrives

‘Escrache’ in Spanish means a demo at the home of a corrupt person in power.

In recent weeks a wave of such demos has spread round Spain, protesting aginst politicians rejection of the proposed popular law to stop mortgage evictions (now running at over 500 a day).

The anti eviction campaign went viral and the PAH platform gathered over 1 million signatures to qualify for presenting a progressive new law.

But the politicians, themselves mired in a huge wave of disgusting money scandals, are rejecting it, to squeeze every penny possible to help their banker friends and feed the insatiable creditors.

They have even refused to abolish ‘dación en pago’ whereby you have to go on paying the mortgage, often for 40 years, even after you have been evicted and the house repossessed. This is so unjust that people are furious. Especially since the public now realise that the credit for loans is just ‘created’ by the banks, out of thin air (though in relation to their levels of our deposits).

They have been quick to rush in new laws against the ‘terrorists’ who take the protest to their homes and urge the police to even more horrific violence to prevent ‘intimidation’.

no more suicides!
no more suicides!

Some mortgage victims just give up, couples suicide together, or jump out the window when the police arrive to evict them, adding to the growing list of mortgage martyrs. Continue reading “Politicians continue Mass Evictions, order Police to attack Doorstep Demos”

Integral CoOps,15M and Occupy.. an embryo for Post Capitalism?

en español aquí: La Cooperativa Integral y el Caído del Capitalismo

In southern Europe it looks like Capitalism is collapsing. . Everywhere businesses are closing down and stolen money moved to tax havens. We have an opportunity right now to start new systems, truly sustainable and without hierarchy, without interest, without rich or poor ..  on the way to a money-free world! Below we report on the  Integral CoOps, which use new technology to link consumption, production, Community Currencies and Time Banks.

NO to  Reaction  YES to revolution ..

All the old activists covered their eyes in despair, when tens of thousands of youths from the 15M movement raised their hands in the air and yelled for nonviolence, while being brutally beaten up by the police mercenaries last year. What a shocking lack of solidarity and militancy!

Yet it is also true that direct confrontation with State forces makes us into a mirror image of them. All the dialectical struggle of macho Marxists only led its leaders to the corruption of power, in the totalitarianism  of  State Communism, or nowadays in leftist parties and sold out unions .

The 15M Movement and Occupy on the other hand are based on the assembly, self organized horizontally, without leaders or parties, without hierarchy, and without accepted sexism,  like an internet chat, or in the tradition of the Iberian Anarchists. Joint statement on the Marikana Massacre issued by the Tokologo Anarchist Collective, Zabalaza Anarchist Communist Front and Inkululeko Wits Anarchist Collective.

The Constitution promises political rights and equality. It is quite clear that the bosses and politicians do exactly as they wish. They walk on the faces of the people. This is shown by the police killings of strikers at Lonmin’s Marikana mine. Continue reading “African anarchists condemn Marikana Massacre”
