‘I Wont Pay’ activists block open Metro for happy Public

yo_no_pagoen Catalá abaix. A week after blocking open the Metro doors for an hour in the main Catalonia Square, the ‘Platform # NoPaguem’  returned to action. This time, in the packed Diagonal station. A few minutes after 8 in the evening, dozens of people came down to the station to the entrance to Paseo de Gracia and opens the door repeating a simple but effective “opening doors and keeping them blocked open ”

Some people wore face masks depiucting Mayor Xavier Trias, ironically denouncing the increase in public transport fares, by one who gets a stratospheric salary.

On either side of the lobby, dozens of people displayed posters and banners demanding two public transport at affordable prices, as well as reporting their cuts and adjustments’ as macro-economic causes of these increases and, in general, the increased cost of living.

#Greece: Fighting for Revolution as Capitalism Falls

occupy resist produce Greece: Fighting for Revolution

Posted on January 5, 2013 en español abajo
Greece stands at a crossroads. Either austerity or social revolution. The latter has been happening anyway with the parallel economy booming. The state is resisting, but so are the people.
The video below is a compilation from a number of sources and includes footage of confrontation over 2011-12. It has been a busy two years. 2013 will not be an exception. As with many other parts of the world – Chiapas, Catalonia, and the pockets of resistance everywhere – we may be witnessing the death throes of capitalism.
If Greece was Syria, the US would be in there arming the rebellion. Instead it’s up to us to provide support – as with the International Revolutionary Solidarity Movement or the International Brigade – or by creating our own version, where possible, of the parallel economy where we live.

When will we see Tanks in Barcelona streets?

goodbye spainby Esther Vivas

“Independent Catalonia? Over my dead body and those of many other soldiers”. It was with these words that on August 31, retired infantry lieutenant-colonel Francisco Alaman Castro referred to the possibility of an independent Catalonia. And he added: “We will not make it easy. Although the lion seems to be sleeping, they have no interest in provoking it too much, because it has already given enough proof of its ferocity over the centuries. These plebs are not up to much, if we know how to confront them”. Continue reading “When will we see Tanks in Barcelona streets?”

Catalonia: Right and Left pact for a Republic

catalan republic. They said it was impossible, but Right and Left have agreed joint local rule to promote a campaign for Catalan Independence from Spain.

The CiU conservative leader had called elections to cash in on a tidal wave of sentiment for independence, as Madrid reneged on agreements and appeared set on milking Catalonia dry, along with racist and neo fascist insults.

However the electorate  thought differently and CiU lost their majority, while the left republicans shot up. But pro independence parties have a huge majority and a pact was made, the left will have to vote for savage social cuts on top of a record recession, while the right will have to share power and give in to some important ERC demands.

The workers  and social movements have been quick to decry the move as a ruse to defuse revolutionary actions due to the locally collapsing capitalist system.and oppose yet another State, this time in the hands of the corrupt Catalan business and political class.

Ecologists and Greens however celebrated the agreement to tax Nuclear Power, as well as a key measure to tax Carbon Dioxide emissions, which is a brilliant precedent in Europe.

imagesChances of persuading Madrid to allow the referendum however are nil, they have threatened to jail Catalan leaders who propose it. Continue reading “Catalonia: Right and Left pact for a Republic”

Integral CoOps,15M and Occupy.. an embryo for Post Capitalism?

en español aquí: La Cooperativa Integral y el Caído del Capitalismo

In southern Europe it looks like Capitalism is collapsing. . Everywhere businesses are closing down and stolen money moved to tax havens. We have an opportunity right now to start new systems, truly sustainable and without hierarchy, without interest, without rich or poor ..  on the way to a money-free world! Below we report on the  Integral CoOps, which use new technology to link consumption, production, Community Currencies and Time Banks.

NO to  Reaction  YES to revolution ..

All the old activists covered their eyes in despair, when tens of thousands of youths from the 15M movement raised their hands in the air and yelled for nonviolence, while being brutally beaten up by the police mercenaries last year. What a shocking lack of solidarity and militancy!

Yet it is also true that direct confrontation with State forces makes us into a mirror image of them. All the dialectical struggle of macho Marxists only led its leaders to the corruption of power, in the totalitarianism  of  State Communism, or nowadays in leftist parties and sold out unions .

The 15M Movement and Occupy on the other hand are based on the assembly, self organized horizontally, without leaders or parties, without hierarchy, and without accepted sexism,  like an internet chat, or in the tradition of the Iberian Anarchists.
