Obviously, there have always been intersections between art and resistance, but we’d like to hear how you see those intersections for yourself, and how you see those intersections playing out in society today.
I believe art is an important part of resistance in that it contributes to an overall culture of resistance. Art inspires, educates, motivates, and helps to maintain a history of resistance as well.
Two activists have come forward and admitted to some of the multiple acts of eco-sabotage against the Dakota Access Pipeline in Spring 2017.
Several of these incidents had been previously hidden from the public. Much of the sabotage took place with minimal equipment and training, and during broad daylight.
The women have come forward in the hope that others will support and be inspired by their actions.
They have currently been arrested on a lesser charge, and the FBI is investigating. Deep Green Resistance is reaching out via our Political Prisoner / Prisoner of War Support Group and aims to provide whatever assistance possible.

The Dakota Access Pipeline is an issue that affects this entire nation and the people that are subject to its rule. With DAPL we have seen incredible issues regarding the rule of law, indigenous sovereignty, land seizures, state sanctioned brutality, as well as corporate protections and pardons for their wrongdoings. We are appalled by today’s forced evacuations of indigenous people at the Camp at Standing Rock, they are a violent and unnecessary infringement on the constitutional right of water protectors to peacefully protest and exercise their freedom of speech. It hinders the camp clean up process and creates confusion and chaos that puts the Missouri River at risk of pollution from construction and camping debris.
Today’s expulsion is a continuation of a centuries old practice, where the U.S. Government forcefully removes Indigenous people from our lands and territories.
We urge supporters of the water protectors to continue to resist this travesty by organizing mass mobilizations, distributed actions, speaking out against the violations of the Treaty rights of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the Seven Council Fires of the Great Sioux Nation, and continuing to source up the capacity for litigation and grassroots organizing against the Dakota Access pipeline.
Our hearts are not defeated. The closing of the camp is not the end of a movement or fight, it is a new beginning.
They cannot extinguish the fire that Standing Rock started. It burns within each of us. We will rise, we will resist, and we will thrive.
We are sending loving thoughts to the water protectors along the banks of the Cannonball River, today. May everyone be as safe as can be. #noDAPL

1. THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS PASSING THE BUCK, TO TRUMP.
On Sunday, December 4, 2016 the Army Corp of Engineers denied theeasement for pipeline development under Lake Oahe and made recommendations for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the river crossing and exploration for alternative routes. An EIS would likely take months to undertake and would be subject to the Trump regime’s Environmental Protection Agency.
2. ENERGY TRANSFER PARTNERS VOWS TO CONTINUE BUILDING DAPL UNDER LAKE OAHE.
Cannon Ball, ND – Water protectors attempting to clear two damaged military trucks from Highway 1806 were met with a militarized response by law enforcement working to ensure the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline on Sunday evening. Police used tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets, concussion grenades, and more crowd control munitions.
By midnight of November 20th, injuries to over 160 people were reported, as medics also confirmed that a 13-year-old girl was shot in the face by law enforcement, two people suffered cardiac arrests, at least one person is in critical condition, and many contusions and damage to hands from rubber bullets. Many people were also experiencing hypothermia from the water cannons and have lung and eye irritation from tear gas and mace.
Unicorn Riot reported live on and off through the night as the standoff lasted over six hours.
Witnesses on the scene say police are employing tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets, mace, LRAD sound cannons, and other weapons, as they moved to encircle the crowd trapped on the bridge — and at the mercy of merciless police.

The incident, which caused damage of an estimated $2 million in equipment, is being treated as arson. Despite the lack of evidence or suspects, Reasnor Assistant Fire Chief Don Steenhoek laid the blame on Dakota Access Pipeline protesters. “[I]t’s pretty senseless,” Steenhoek told local news outlet KCCI. “They’re not getting back at the pipeline.
