Introduction

With the defeat of the IS in Syria and especially after the liberation of Raqqa in October 2017, the Turkish state intensified its threats and attacks on the Democratic Confederation of Northern Syria. On this background the Turkish occupation war on Afrin started on the 20th January 2018 violating international law and the sovereignty of its neighbour country.

The Turkish army has launched this war in cooperation with jihadist groups of the FSA ranks. Many of them are former Al-Qaida or IS members. Since the beginning of March, all districts and the city centre of Afrin had been under heavy bombardments, shelling and drone surveillance by the Turkish army targeting especially civilians.

#BreakSilenceOnAfrin One of the hundreds of former ISIS fighters who fled to Turkey, recruited as “FSA” and now is attacking Afrin together with turks. This is turkey’s war on Kurds.

On March 18th more than 200,000 people left the town centre and were evacuated in order to avoid a physical genocide. Since then the majority of refugees are staying in the Shehba region without security guarantees or international support.

In this new phase, the confrontation between the international powers and their interests is increasing all over Syria.

Last week’s Developments inside Afrin

After 78 days of resistance against Turkish occupation war, hundreds of thousands of people from Afrin Canton are still displaced and facing difficult conditions. The Turkish army and its jihadist allies are implementing ethnic cleansing, assimilation and colonisation policies, making preparations to add the region Afrin de-facto to Turkey’s state territory.

At the same time thousands of jihadists have been transferred from Goutha to Afrin to create demographic changes and install an Islamic-Turkish order.

The resistance of YPG-YPJ forces in the all districts of Canton Afrin carries on, as well as the resistance of the displaced people from Afrin in Sherawa and Shehba region.

Civilians run for cover from explosions in the city of Afrin in northern Syria on March 18, 2018, after Turkish forces and their rebel allies took control of the Kurdish-majority city.

Turkey has extended it threats now towards Til Rifat/Shehba region, Minbij and Shingal. Moreover, the tension between the two blocks Russia-Turkey-Iran and the US lead International Coalition are growing.

War and Humanitarian Situation

The conditions of Afrin’s people displaced in Shehba region are still very precarious and insecure. However, works to build camps and to organised delivery of supplies and humanitarian aid are organised by the Democratic Self-administrations of Northern Syria and the Kurdish Red Crescent. The Spanish police have yet to reveal any reason for the arrest.

Spanish companies like Indra, based in Barcelona, obtain lucrative contracts for the export of military technology in Turkey, despite the human rights violations committed in that country
translated from research by GUILLE LARIOS at La Directa

It was in 2006 when the president of the Spanish government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and the then Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan co-sponsored an initiative of preventive diplomacy aimed at reducing tensions between the West and the Islamic world and fighting against international terrorism for others Roads that were not the military.

The Alliance of Civilizations was born with the support of the United Nations and the interest and approval of most (military) world powers.  Turkey became the third largest trading partner in Spain and the third largest importer of Spanish weapons, behind Thailand and the United States. Comrades in question are held arbitrarily by the police in custody and in protest of their treatment, yesterday they went on an indefinite hunger strike until they are released.

As the anniversary of the Gezi Revolt approaches (the end of May) fascist Erdogan government fears another revolt against its violent dictatorial regime. It is keeping every protester it can arrest as hostage. I will update this as more information arrives. As always, but as it becomes more and more clear everyday, our only weapon against the state and sectarian violence directed everywhere against the working class is international solidarity! Can a Fascist Dictator be Elected? YES.. and Erdogan threatens Prison, Dismissal and Death to NO voters

The  referendum in Turkey is to give the president Erdogan nearly total dictatorial powers. But can a Fascist Dictator really  be Elected?

YES because in this case Erdogan has already seized dictatorial powers.. he’s supposed to be a generally symbolic president yet see below  the endless list of atrocities he has ordered.

But is he a fascist? Well, he is the absolute power in the populist far right AKP party which advocates extermination of 18 million kurds and the creation of an Ottoman Empire.

Though he screams and bullies abroad he is at home a master manipulator, head of a criminal family and business mafia, adept at abusing nationalist, sexist  and racial prejudices and feelings of resentment (even working class resentment against rich europeans) to whip up frenzied mob fervour and pursue witch-hunts against Kurds, leftists, feminists, Gulanists, minorities and anyone who dares to criticize him (or is a friend or family of any of the above).

Is this fascism.. in my definition YES. The referendum in this climate is a black joke, with every kind of pressure imaginable against No campaigners, with zero international observers coming, and with the most recent elections in Nov 2015 described as ‘stinking of mass fraud’.
