Turkey vs Rojava: false videos inflame hatred of Kurds.. Defend the SDF!

We share a report from many by The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights   about Turkish attacks on the SDF .

Context: The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were started in 2015 to expand the Rojava Revolution by inviting male and female militias of all races and religions to join in expanding and defending the struggle.

Now it’s a multi ethnic, multi religion, anti sexist, non authoritarian federation, which includes women and dozens of groups of all religions and races, having liberated Manbij, Raqqa and Deir es Zor etc. from ISIS terror. the SDF is now the official military force of the  Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AA)    Kurds may now be a minority in the SDF but the YPG/YPJ is the biggest militia.

Turkey again makes daily threats to eliminate the 70,000 strong force, financing and supplying ISIS remnants,as well as HTS Al Qaeda, Islamic militias and infiltrating terrorist gangs, while Assad forces conspire with tribal leaders to foment resistance. The SDF still has ‘protection’ by none less than a small force of the USA military, for their own imperialist reasons, though Trump still plans to pull out.

Press reports suggest Erdogan may take advantage of the truce in the Turkish supplied Idlib war to invade  Rojava (AA)  on the pretext of creating a 32km ”safe zone” which would include the main Kurdish cities, in a dirty deal with the US.

That is, ERdogan needs permission from the US to use the airspace and bomb Rojava cities to oblivion. (In exchange for  ???) This was what made the Afrin invasion possible, but that time it was Russia which did the dirty deal and gave bombing permission.

In preparation for a planned Turkish military operation east of Euphrates, the media campaign to create Arab–Kurdish strife continues through creation of more fake videos

”Media fabrications by the Turkey-loyal [ie mercenary] groups continue spreading videos showing men dressed as  members of the Syria Democratic Forces torturing and beating citizens, in order to create  Arab–Kurdish strife in the east Euphrates area and northeast of Aleppo”.

”The latest of these is a video showing members dressed as SDF, speaking in Kurdish, and torturing an Arab family, who they beat, insult, and do immoral acts to. Also the video shows a car belonging to Asayish [SDF security] with SDF flag next to it, which was met with angry reactions on social media.

But a lot of evidence proves the fabrication of this fake video: it shows the speaker saying that these are women fleeing forced recruitment, but there is no forced recruitment for women within SDF; Continue reading “Turkey vs Rojava: false videos inflame hatred of Kurds.. Defend the SDF!”

Ecology against Capitalism – Seeking a Renewed Relationship to Nature

Originally published on Komun-Academy, Written by Hêlîn Asî, 2019

Around the world, currently, thousands of people, especially youth, protest and demand action against climate change. Under the slogan Fridays for future global strikes and mass demonstrations are taking place. In light of the statistics and prognoses about the causes and effects of climate change over the last few years, the climate question has become one of the most urgent questions of our time.

While on one side, individuals must bear responsibility, it is clear that it does not suffice to merely criticize individual lifestyles without challenging larger structural political and economic conditions. Analyzing climate change as independent from capitalism means depoliticizing the issue. In fact, nearly all conditions that have contributed to climate change can be traced back to the capitalist-consumerist system.

Landless MST Camps resisting neo-fascist Bolsonaro Regime

context: Financial and Landowning Oligarchy Looting the Country:     Corruption has always been  rampant among the Brazilian 1% elite and this was used to discredit the ‘leftist’ PT leaders(although corruption by the right is infinitely worse). Rightwing control of the judiciary was used to force out Dilma in an institutional coup and later to jail and disbar Lula, the clear favourite ‘socialist’ candidate for president.

The presidency went to a far right wing mafia boss, Bolsonaro, with a US spawned Trump style media campaign. Bolsonaro is using his presidential decrees; to try and open the country to selling off anything of value for commissions; for repression of the landless and impunity for the tiny minority of landowners who still own most of arable Brasil;  for open and continuous racist and anti gay and feminist statements, thus unleashing a flood of attacks; for trying to abolish Indigenous rights and land titles; for opening the Amazon and all areas to mining, logging, ranching, etc..

But above all the US supported Bolsonaro regime is about trying to abolish all progressive measures, health, education, pensions, food aid etc,  which have partly lifted the people from poverty, serfdom, ignorance and gender based oppression in recent years. Bolsonaro proudly advocates dictatorial rule  with death squads, torture and police and army repression.. Even so the EU has now signed a trade deal, thus legitimizing and rewarding the regime.

The Bolsonaro regime will not end the landless MST camps
interview with Kelli Mafort by Pedro Biondi

translated from/en castellano AQUI .. https://www.lahaine.org/cD6Z  ………   In the Temer government there was a very large freeze, and now the Bolsonaro government, in addition to the continuity in the cutting of public policies, tries to confront the popular movements creating a climate of terror in the camps and settlements (of the landless MST people), and promoting privatization of the settlements of the agrarian reform. The scenario is quite unfavorable and poses new challenges for the struggle of popular movements.

The Landless Movement of Brazil faces new attacks by the fascist regime, which is heading a crusade to privatize the territories.

Our Inspiration – Anarcha-Feminists of the Past and Present

For anarcha-feminists, the struggle against patriarchy is an inherent part of the struggle to abolish the state and abolish capitalism, since the state itself is a patriarchal structure.

Although there is a rich, global history of people of color and/or feminist anarchist movements, within the U.S., it’s not uncommon for anarchist spaces to suffer major blind spots when it comes to race and gender.

Given that anarchism, even more than socialism and communism, explicitly denounces any form of hierarchy in political organizing, it is especially ironic when white male anarchists fail to recognize the ways in which they replicate hierarchy by participating in racist and patriarchal forms of domination against their comrades.

Anarcha-feminism Anarcha-feminists

So here is a brief introduction to anarcha-feminism—loosely defined as a political philosophy and movement whose goal is not only to abolish the capitalist state, but also all forms of patriarchal domination as well.

Anarcha-feminists do not see the goals of feminism as distinct from anarchism—rather, they see feminism (in its true form) as a kind of anarchism, and vice versa. For anarcha-feminists, the struggle against patriarchy is an inherent part of the struggle to abolish the state and abolish capitalism, since the state itself is a patriarchal structure.

In a manifesto titled “Anarcho-Feminism: Two Statements,” the authors note: “We believe that a Woman’s Revolutionary Movement must not mimic, but destroy, all vestiges of the male-dominated power structure, the State itself — with its whole ancient and dismal apparatus of jails, armies, and armed robbery (taxation); with all its murder; with all of its grotesque and repressive legislation and military attempts, internal and external, to interfere with people’s private lives and freely-chosen co-operative ventures.”

Below are a list of some anarcha-feminists and anarcha-feminist groups, both historic and present, to get you started:

Emma Goldman (1869-1940):

Often referred to as the mother of the modern anarchist movement, Emma Goldman was born into a Jewish family in contemporary Lithuania (then part of the Russian empire) in 1869, and subsequently emigrated to the United States. Mass Hunger Strikes end in Victory over Fascist Terror.. 8 dead

reportaje en castellano abajo

After 200 days of incomparable historical resistance, the hunger strikes in Kurdistan, Turkey and Europe have been declared over today

We send our warmest revolutionary greetings to all comrades who took part in the hunger strike and the many resistance actions and congratulate the free peoples on this victory.

Ocalan in the past has declared long ceasefires with the Turkish State rejecting terrorism and separatism  in favour of ‘municipal anarchist’ communal ideas and feminist emancipation which have swept through the over 15 million Kurdish population.

On November 8, 2018 the Kurdish politician Leyla Güven had started her hunger strike to lift the total isolation against Abdullah Öcalan, the representative of the Kurdish people and philosophical thought leader of the revolution in Northeast Syria. Synchronicity has a funny way of throwing together two apparently unrelated events in  a way that invites comparison.

This was the case, for instance, with Saturday November 17 2018, the day on which both the Gilets Jaunes in France and Extinction Rebellion (XR) in the UK were launched onto their respective national stages.

Initially, the comparison appeared to favour XR, from our perspective at least. In Britain, altruistic environmentally-aware protesters were battling to save the planet, while across the Channel the Yellow Vests were upset about a rise in petrol prices.

But that perception rapidly changed. Continue reading “The Acorn – 49 – read it here”
