Pursuit of rapper Valtònyc reveals widespread censorship in Spain

A Belgian court provisionally released rapper Josep Miquel Beltrán (stage name Valtònyc) pending its decision on a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by Spain. The rapper fled Spain in May to avoid a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence after being convicted of glorifying terrorism, insulting the monarchy, and issuing threats in songs posted on YouTube and other internet platforms.
Valtònyc’s offending lyrics … [were] referring to corrupt politicians and the monarchy.
Valtònyc has defended his songs saying, “Calling me a terrorist is nonsense … My songs don’t hurt anyone, I haven’t killed anyone. I rap about things that happen, but I’m not a participant.” He invoked freedom of expression in his defense…

Davis spoke about the need for international solidarity opposing institutionalized police violence against those engaged in political conduct around the world. Davis said, “Anti-Muslim racism, Islamophobia has to be understood as intersecting with and reinvigorating anti-Black, anti-Asian, anti-Latinos racism.”

The halt in shipments will last ‘until the safety of shipments through the strait, which connects the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, is ensured’, Khalid Al-Falih said in a statement.

Hopefully the missile attacks will finally force the Saudis to the negotiating table. After 3 years ignoring the continuing massacre for arms profits the West may finally take notice with the threat of soaring oil prices.
The Houthi/Ansarullah fired one of their increasingly sophisticated home made missiles at the passing Saudi oil tanker, the NCC Dammam in response to an air strike on Hodeidah on Monday that massacred at least a dozen civilians, including seven children.
The damage to the tanker, by chance was only slight, but the attack has forced the Saudis to suspend the hugely important passage of its tankers through the narrow Bab-el-Mandeb strait.
Tensions have been rising in recent days after the Houthis/Ansarullah, who control most of northern Yemen, launched a series of missile strikes on Saudi Arabia, including the capital Riyadh.
North and West Yemen are now effectively a separate country, (as they were before for many years). The war began when Saudi Arabia ”appointed” their president Hadi, (he was the only candidate in disputed elections), causing the Houthii/Ansarullah movement to eventually rise up and sweep the country.

Workers at Amazon’s center near Madrid took on the richest capitalist ever, Jeff Bezos , in a 3 day strike on July 16 to 18 (Amazon’s ‘Prime Sales Days’ ) against severe cuts in their working conditions.
On the second day of the strike riot police charged and viciously beat up defiant pickets, injuring many and arresting three, later released with charges. Video of the police attack in favour of Amazon went viral around the world on social media.
Amazon’s management thought they could intimidate a local dispute but the assembly based strikers of the anarcho-syndicalist CGT and the CCOO called out 80% of the full time workers, nearly shutting down the operation.
International solidarity was the key breakthrough, union delegates had previously traveled to Italy and Germany to seek support. 1,200 people in six German centers seconded the strike on these same days , while in Poland there have also been days of strikes despite “completely contrary legislation”.
